It would be good if we could see one of these against a standard m140i in the half mile and maybe a rolling start. Seen as the m140i is still the reigning champ from the ultimate hatch drag tournament
Thanks for your kind words Samuel, glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully we'll get Luke back in the car at another data with some mods, or even throw him the keys!
Thanks for sharing the video Luke. But does anyone else agree that the wheels need spaces? They look lost under the arches and it spoils the stance. But that will probably have something to do with the regulations from factory. 🤔 Something i am sure Regal will adjust in time. Oh and just one other thing Luke.... Invest in a skid lid that doesn't look like a potty on your head. 😉😀😀
Yes a cracking 👏 video. Nice to see what the mark 8 is capable of . You was majestic as ever and I could tell you gave the driver the respect he deserved. These are the videos you should be proud of. Any chance you could do a Mk7 vs a Mk8 8 stat video on the same Circuit??? Now there's a challenge... Gauntlet laid.... And I know once reading this you will take up....get your Yar Yars out and push earlier Golf Rs out against the new mark 8....In Luke WE TRUST
BILSTEIN EVO S, which is their entry level coilover. A nice upgrade over stock with ride height adjustability without ruining ride quality. Not optimised for the track, but better than stock! We'll be fitting more track-oriented coilovers soon too.
We can brake way later that in the mk7 r, what brakes were you running? EBC yellowstuff pads, enough said XD.... those pads are garbage, at least for a heavy car as the golf R, try running PAGID rst1, Carbone lorraine, hawk track pads etc, i guarantee you will be able to brake at the 50m mark ahaha it's just that probably tyres won't be able to hold and discs will be shot soon as they can't keep up with pads but i t will brake like a beast.
One additional comment ....only later after watching the video...how was the exhaust sound compared to your BMW track day?..just wanted to throw it in there.....
So how does it perform campared to your modified m140i, many m140i owners feel that their cars are better than the Golf r....I can't imagine how but I'd like to understand
Love the new R....BUT, 50k for a decent spec is a fuckin joke.... you could have an RS3, RS5, M3, M4, C63 all a year or so old with less than 15k on the clock, plus many other options, dont understand who their target market is tbh
And that's the point, ok it's got great performance no arguement bit 50k for a Golf with performance pack and optional extras which you'd want. I've just ordered a m135i loaded with choice optional extras and a better interior for just over 44k, ok not as performance focused as the new r but who is going to drive their car anywhere near its full potential like this. Like above, I can't see this cars target buyer. More prestigious cars available for that money. Good watch none the less.
@@RegalAutosport A fast Civic, M135i, christ there are a dozen other cars you could buy for 5-10 grand and spend the rest on modifications to make it faster around a track than the Golf.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 70,000 SUBSCRIBERS!!! 😱🙏🏻
Pleasure to take you out Luke! Great chat and you didn't draw for the brown paper bag, respect!
Surprised you didn’t let him drive it. I have way more expensive cars and I’d let my neighbours dog drive them. Lame
I like that the rear wants to rotate more so than previous generations. That’s a good thing.
Great content. Any oil or trans cooling issues on this?
Awesome video definitely getting one of these
You'll love it, we really like ours!

Great video, love the camera setup and really like Ash's level of expertise and delivery. Cheers

I know the stock mk7 r wheels are et50. I put a 10mm spacer in the front and 20mm in the back. Improved the look a lot.
i have a golf r on order, sooo excited
I've never seen Luke so quiet!
Here we go again 😉
Did driver's gloves create chaos from the R steering touch sensitive buttons as hated by many UK motor journalists?
It cames with optional Trofeo R tirea.
Hi , some lap times and compared to other cars would be nice.
I must admit I’m not keen on the r but the GTI is growing on me
Christ. i have the Mk8 R Per Pack. At least i know they can take a bit of a hammering!!! lol

Hi. Great vidéo. How many kilometers should I wait before starting to push the motor to the limit 😉?
2500+ !
What type of coilovers was that mk8 Running?.

@@markrhoden68 I would have gotten an M2 Competition. But best of wishes from a GTI Clubsport MK7 owner! 👍
Very true. However if the Golf R is offered with a manual in the US I'll choose the R over any of the cars you mentioned. I'm currently in a mk7 R.
spec up a rs3, rs5,m3.m4,c63 from new looking at 70k , plus no warranty or not much left on it on an old car, no brainer for me , get a new car
Yeah it is a bit daft 50k, but who buys a brand new car outright unless you plan on keeping it for many years!
👍
Up the goodwood
One of the best tracks!
£50k for a Golf.
You could build a faster track day car for £20k seriously.
What would you build for 20k?

They butchered the interior of that car
