Same. GOAT tier shmup. And it's one of the best ones to get started with.

This was my first arcade 1CC, and while what I look for in a shooter has changed, it's still special to me for that, and it does a good job at teaching players fundamentals they need.

Espgaluda 2 from the same dev and publisher is also fantastic on Switch. Very little lag, bright visuals and an excellent arrange 'Omake' mode. Live Wire seem to be content to handle Cave's more fantasy based games, so I hope to see Ibara/Pink Sweets/Muchi Pork/Mushihimesama Futari and so on.

You've done the game justice with this review! I would always chuck a few quid into this game whenever I was at Play to Win Goodge Street

Hey, you should do more reviews of these style, you are really good. It might take a lot of effort but the end result is definitely worth it. I can't wait to get my Limited Run copy.

Thanks! I knew it was a niche title but I put extra effort into understanding this game for the review so I’m happy it was appreciated.

I think the review was great and I appreciate how much work you put into it, I'm just terrible at these kinds of games unfortunately.

Old comment, but I'll chime in anyway. I too was atrocious as these games, but have become much better over the years. Good thing is about this wonderful genre, is as you get better at a particular shmup, your general skill transfers over to other games. Once you get hooked like I did, you'll LOVE it!!!

I might get this from Limited Run. I like to have physical copies of games so paying a little extra is worth it.

This game is... mainly known for having one of the hardest bosses ever

    • @ishimoto1597
      @ishimoto1597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's got a more lot to offer than just that. This has super hard ultra mode, but that's a tiny part of it. The novice modes are great, and all of other modes are pretty approachable for beginners once you've cleared the novice mode.
I've got hundreds of hours in this game, and i'm nowhere near done, and i'm nowhere near good enough for the hardest boss ever. It's a really really good package.

Cave are the kings of bullet-hell. I can appreciate bullet-hell shmups, but as a western shmup player, I lean more towards the fantastic western shmups such as Defender and Robotron.

Kudos for stating both positive and negative sides of the game/port. The fact that you suddenly received the game from Cave gives me the hope that they're planning to do something ........other than continue supporting their mahou shojou mobile game that is

Mushihimesama has a special place in my collection since it was the first Cave game I got a 1cc in. I was a little hesitant to watch this video because, while I like your regular content very much, you're not really known as an STG/shmup gamer, and reviews of shmups done by non-shmup players tend to totally miss the point ("Game is over in 25 minutes, bad value and not worth it") of the genre which is playing for survival (1cc) or score, and not credit feeding your way to the end. However, you really did a good job in describing the port, the game, and the way it's played by those invested in shoot 'em ups.

Great review!! Just like to point out an error: The graphics are not the original, but taken from Mushihimesama HD for Xbox 360, which notably excluded the original more pixely graphics. It's a shame, I would've bought this port otherwise.

Great overview - glad Switch has an ever growing Shooter library.
I'm loving the community of shmupers on YT.
I'm a HH player and casual so these games are great to try - but always kick your ass.
The boutique prices that the physicals get are a piss take but looks like a must buy.
    Cheers.
