Thanks for the nice review. I might just pick this up for a no brainer, "average" shoe for base miles. All my other shoes have more modern characteristics of lightness, bounce, rebound, propulsion, etc.... sometimes it's just nice to have an old fashioned feel when not necessarily trying to go fast. Plus after 500K it will make a nice looking everyday/walking/travel shoe.
It is exactly what you describe and it would do more than a fine job for that purpose. Maybe compare it against the velocity Nitro 2 and floatride energy 4 (shoes I haven't tried myself but that are very popular and in that price ballpark). Thanks for the nice comment, Jon
I really liked the Pegasus 37. Felt like it really came alive after 150 miles! The Pegasus 39 seems like a good update over the 38 and overall, it seems like a great shoe! Great value at $120 too.
Chad, my Peg 39s came alive after around 70-80 miles. Its the same as with the predecessors. Didnt "really" like them on the first couple of runs (was expecting that though), but now I personally love them. So versatile, even for some speedier sessions!
I am actually really excited, for these. The peg has been all over the place, I found the 36 trying to be a umptempo trainer with how the upper fit and that foam. The 38 seems to be greater for those longer slower summer runs. I will say, I couldn't agree with you more React when its more airy than solid is much better, The react foam that was in the epic react 1 and 2 as amazing. glad to see nike putting it some effort into their running shoes or at least the peg. I don't understand how nike decides too make changes or what they are attempting to go for when releasing a new model. With that being said still excited for these.
I am a beginner runner and I have slightly flat and wide feet, slight overpranation and need at least a slightly wide or comfortable toe box. I want an average adaptable shoe for road running, casual walking, casual use like wearing it outside, and sports on flat red sand floors. My budget is 60-75 usd dollars and I live in india and found these shoes in this price range (in inr currency). Do you think these shoes are too unstable or unsupportive for slight overpranation and do you think they are very tight or very less durable. These are my main concerns. I also found the shield version of these shoes for the same price range. Should I go for the normal model or shield one or a totally different one. Please recommend. Thank you.
I used to own a pair of pegasus 36 , for me the last good pegasus out there so far , I had a lot of expectations on the 39 , but the day that I was going to buy them , I tried the Saucony ride 16, and felt in love with it , to tell you the truth , I don't see myself going mg back to Nike unless they come out with something better
Add 4 mm of foam (not react ideally in the forefoot) and it's a winner. Probably even more so if you replace the air zoom units by some ZoomX foam...please read this Nike haha ;-))
Thanks for the review. I don’t think having an unspectacular shoe or two in the rotation does too much harm. If every shoe was magical, we’d have no contrast to make the brilliant shoes feel so amazing. That being said, I’ve never really got on with pegs although I end up with many pairs as they’re always so cheap to pick up. 🤣
I definitely agree with that, Andy. Boring shoes are actually useful as they also often help to strengthen muscles that supershoes leave "not so busy". Congrats on the pictures from yesterday, a pleasure to discover and watch them.
Tried the Pegasus 36 and hated it. Tried the Pegasus 37 purely cos the of the Eliud Kipchicoge/Kenya colourway, but it’s a horrible shoe to run in. My no brained daily trainers are the Reebok Floatride Energy Series or the Puma Velocity Nitro…
I would be curious to hear from you if you ever try the Velocity Nitro 2! But other than that hard to disagree with your comment. 35 was the last great Peg for sure and since then it's not really outstanding stuff anymore. This one is the closest it gets to 35. Thanks for your comment, Kevin.
Great job but I think you are searching for something in Pegasus lineup that Will not happen now or tomorrow because Nike with this shoe, wanted to realize a Great Daily running shoe, not a performance One. For that pourpose, Nike created Vaporfly, Alphafly and other carbon plated shoes, this One Is the "old school running companion that you knows from the 80's". Who bought a Pegasus knows that and wants that, runners that wants performance on a Daily trainer Like Pegs, are probably looking at the wrong pourpose of the shoe. Anyway Nike moves a lil bit forward with the 39 model year, less Weight, more cuscion, the Flyease model at launch, more durable also for heavyweight guys and the same old feeling with a Great value shoe. The One that we loved Need to be the same, but Better, and there It Is! Anyway, good job for the Channel, keep running 🤙🏻
Use the shoe in the winter if breathability is a problem but just to let you know that you are the only one in the whole TH-cam she revues who has this issue
Hi I am planning to buy these for my dad because his foot is not well and I am looking to buy him a nice soft shoe for his bday. Are these shoe soft and comfortable?
After around 100 miles I can definitely say, I am surprised how good the Peg 39 is. It took a few runs, but it really grew on me. Also got it for 75 bucks or so already. So cheap for what you get. In my opinion it is exactly, what they sell it for. A "daily workhorse" for pretty much every workout. Upper feels a bit cheap, but thats my only complain. Outsole definitely has better grip than the 38 (feels softer, too), and well, we all know, React is a bit outdated (and it will stiffen up in Winter here in Central Europe - many EVA based foams have that issue though), but its sooooo durable. You cant really kill React foam.
The Pegasus 35 is, in my opinion, the best Pegasus of them all. I think it's probably one of the best daily trainers of all time. I wish Nike would go back to the pre React versions.
Hi Alex, I took the 39 for a few runs and it was okay like you said on the video. A soft light easy dynamic shoe but not to special. But After a temporun (6x400 and total 15k) my forefoot started to hurt like I hit the ground right through the shoe. Like there was no firm or strong material underneath. A problem I didn’t have with the 37 or 38. Do you have any insights of thoughts?
Hard to say, Siebe. The pods in the forefoot are a little protruding and I'm curious whether they can actually go flat (which would explain your sensation). Do you still feel that when walking in the shoes now?
the front zoom air bag in the 37/38 is twice the size of the front zoom air bag in the 39 (which is the same size as the 34pegasus zoom air bag) i have 2 pairs of 38 and 1 in the 39.
These vs react infinite run 3. Im recovering from a acl and meniscus tear and just needed some really comfy walk around shoes that won’t break the bank
When you’ve tried the super shoes like Vaporfly, alphafly, endorphine pro, metaspeed sky etc…, you don’t want to look at or go for lower end of running shoe lines. P.s. invincible run beats Pegasus in comfort and bounce, but longevity wise, react is more durable.
@@AlexFilitti Hey would you recommend the pegs for casual asphalt running (women's - slow long runs and fast sprinting)? Or rather the React, Vaporfly or others..? Thanks :)
Good review, Alex. Barring their solid racing options, Nike is an overrated brand, especially this Pegasus model, which is quite plainly the definition of average. If this shoe was from some unknown brand, people would have hardly had taken it into account.

After waisting a loooot of money in adidas shoes, i bought the pegasus and I’ll never regret i basically found the perfect shoe for running
Use the shoe in the winter if breathability is a problem but just to let you know that you are the only one in the whole TH-cam she revues who has this issue
The Nike logo in mine started separately from the rest of the shoe on both of them after 3 or 4 times wearing them....
Bad for the brand image when the logo falls appart so quickly ...
@@AlexFilitti Should be noted they quickly refunded me
Also had this issue after 2 months with 3 out of the 4 logos on the pair. Have applied for a refund too
I put this in the category with the Brooks Launch. They sell a lot of them, but I think I'll pass and buy a better shoe.
Hi I am planning to buy these for my dad because his foot is not well and I am looking to buy him a nice soft shoe for his bday. Are these shoe soft and comfortable?
Get him a max cushion shoes instead of this, like Skechers Maxroad 5, Asics Novablast 2, Brooks Glycerin 19 and the likes
They're not that soft, no.

@@antonioromulodelcarmen283 I would also rank it a tie. But if I have to shout out a winner, it would be turbo 1.
Turbo 1 FTW!! ;-)

The 39 aren't for recovery days.
The are firm enough ,not so soft as 38.
In my opinion, Peg 39 is a heavier and more unstable Mach 4.
What about the Mach 5?
@@Mike_Rundle Sorry. I broke my ankle a two month ago. I haven't used Mach 5 yet. 😢
I like the thicker softer tongues, maybe they can make em more breathable.

😂😂
The biggest problem of the Peg 39 is that it' s not made by Puma and called the Velocity Nitro 2🤣
Good one! I think you summed up (again!) my thoughts quite well
Good 👍 One Robin.
and if I may, puma price
If Puma sharpens their designs a bit it would be killer 👌
@@jlu I don' t know... I like the looks alot. But they do all look quite similar.
The bulk of people buying the Peg are for casual use.......................just look at how they always have the 'by you' options for it......
React is not an EVA, I think.
My bad, EVA/TPE blend indeed
Eh, I think the Peg is underrated.
This one in particular? What do you think of it?
I can do threshold workouts in the Peg, can't do that in the 880, Clifton, Ghost etc. So I find peg the most versatile.
Thanks for the review very useful, save me 120 euros yay
Happy if this is helpful Fabian! 🙂
I still remember the Tailwind and Pegasus 1.. Then 32 was OK.. 37 to harsh.. Maybe I am getting old but I find the Vomero much better.
The vomero is better... Loads
I prefer the Vomero 16 over this one too. But I think they don’t serve the exact same purposes
I chose the vomero 16 because they were taking too long to release the peg 39 and I have no regrets.
@@AlexFilitti I’m waiting on the Vomero 17 and hoping it’s based off the 16 with a few features from the Peg 39. 🤞🏻

Exactly per adidas.........
They cost less than 80 € though. I like the 38 as a daily trainer
Just picked these up on sale for $69
It’s a very good but uninspiring shoe. Very good at pretty much everything, just a bit boring
Yes exactly!
Then its exactly what it should be as a daily workhorse trainer!
Weird fit, has airbag in front that pushes front of the foot up. Unnatural fit, not for me.
