Very nice install. I'm thinking of doing something very similar on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Which dash mount kit and which wiring harness worked for you?
I have a 2013 Durango with the base stock head unit and was looking at swapping to this. Did you have to purchase a wiring harness from like Metra? Or anything else besides what came in the box.
Thx. So do you prefer the 2GB version? This one? www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-JOYING-2GB-RAM-32G-ROM-Android-5-1-1-Quad-Core-Universal-Car-Radi-Audio/32754730051.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.MYSQwe
Which steering wheel control module are you using to work with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Are you able to program each button? Is there a button that brings up "Okay Google"
I don't think there's an okay Google but there is a button you can press and then say navigate to ......... it works very well too. I'm using a scosche interface with steering wheel controls using the pioneer profile. I then have to assign what each button does in the factory settings of the head unit.
I installed a Joying unit in my 2007 Jeep commander, i used the PAC SWC adapter. I could only get 4 out of the 6 buttons setup though. I believe that my buttons match yours, it as 3 on each side of the wheel mounted on the backside. I couldnt get the middle buttons on each side setup. Are all of yours working?
Hi mate so 8 months later is it still working ? I have a lot places telling me to avoid these types of units but Joying seem to have my attention i must say !
Did your Jeep have the factory Boston Acoustics sound system in it? Or just the base system? I've heard that people can have issues with the BA system and these android units?
The headunit I bought came with a canbus adapter, if that is what you are talking about. Looks similar to the CRSR01 unit on the Scosche website. Unless you mean something else?
Hello Again, I was wondering if you had any battery draining issues? Started happning to mine, I'm wondering if the CANBUS decoder is bad or something, so I'm trying to find others that have had the issue.
Adam W absolutely not. I leave my Jeep alone for weeks sometimes and no problem starting. Try and get hold of a DC Clamp ammeter and see if you can track down the source of the current drain.
It was most definitely the head unit, I bought an XTrons one. As soon as I swapped it out and put the OEM head unit in, everything worked fine. I think it might be the canbus module that came with it, faulty or something.
I ended up using an Huawei E5573. The data is transferred via WiFi but my head unit gets signal strength data from the USB connection. the Hilink app is very useful too.
Mate, thanks but I think you misunderstand me. I am thinking of the system settings menu in the UL135 HU. under the canbus tab It does not have Pioneer listed, but 70+ car brands, but very odd namings. I have no clue what a canvas interface is ? I have both a Axxess and PAC interface, but cant test if they work properly, If I dont have the correct setting of the canbus in the HU system settings menu,
Michael Rath Hi Michael I will have a look at the settings tomorrow. I wrote my reply using a cellphone which kindly corrected CANbus to canvas. CANbus is a digital serial data network which is widely used in automotive to cut down on wiring which keeps manufacturing costs and weight down. My Joying head unit is not connected to my Jeep's CANbus network and therefore the settings are irrelevant. My scosche adapter converts the Jeeps CANbus signals into analogue signals which then connect to my Joying head unit. In summary, when I select volume up on my steering wheel, a digital signal is sent over the vehicles CANbus network. This is then received by my Scosche interface and converted into analogue resistance measurements which are connected to my head-units Key1 and Key 2 wires. There are many analogue resistance profiles, JVC, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Sony and Pioneer. I found that the Joying unit was very reliable when using the pioneer profile. On the PAC devices you will have a 3.5mm Jack, a bit like the connector you will see on the end of a pair of headphones. This will need to be connected to the Key 1 and Key 2 wires. I bought a 3.5 mm female socket which I soldered to the key 1 and Key 2 wired to make is a quick plug and play solution. Does this help?
Hi mate, I've done all this, SWC works. However, Im experimenting a bit with the other minor functions, the factory amp ON, etc. Hence I would like to know, what your setting is in that mentioned menu, there are 4-5 different jeep/chrysler choices, including a "78 NULL" with two choices!

Mate, have the same unit in a 2006 Dodge Charger with low speed canbus, what did you get for the SWC ? Seems to work flawless
Cheers

where did you get that dash kit it's nice
Hi, doesn't all joying units only read 32GB either USB or SD cards?
Does this have a sleep / standby function? I'd like to see at least 8 hours standby with quick boot, before shutting down.
I boots very quickly but yes, it can hibernate for a user defined length of time.
Hi #tickertapes. This is the 1 GB RAM (JY-UM135N) or the 2 GB RAM (JY-UM135N2) version? Thx for the answer!
Csaba Kántor that was my 1GB version, I now have the 2GB version which is much snappier with the Sofia chipset.
Thx. So do you prefer the 2GB version? This one? www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-JOYING-2GB-RAM-32G-ROM-Android-5-1-1-Quad-Core-Universal-Car-Radi-Audio/32754730051.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.MYSQwe
Csaba Kántor hi, yes, definitely go for the 2GB, navigation is much smoother especially when listening to mp3s

Robert Taylor yes, I think they all work using Pioneer protocol. The RHS is mute Can't remember what the LHS is. I'm using a scosche adapter.
thanks for the reply, did yo connect both key 1 and key 2 wires from the head unit to your adapter?
Followed this link from the forum....how does the quality of this unit seem? Any glitches/freezing?
Not had any issues yet. all SD cards have to be formatted in FAT 32, otherwise no complaints.
Hi mate so 8 months later is it still working ? I have a lot places telling me to avoid these types of units but Joying seem to have my attention i must say !
Riccardo Harry it's working fine, not had any problems at all. So far it's been worth every penny.
What type of ODB2 dongle are you using ?
I have a Bluetooth dongle but the Joying does not detect it.
r1freak1 I have an xtrons adapter. I bought that because it was very compact. Works fine.
Did your Jeep have the factory Boston Acoustics sound system in it? Or just the base system? I've heard that people can have issues with the BA system and these android units?
Adam W I have the Boston system, sounds great and no issues.
Good to hear, I'm going to be installing a similar system in my 08 tomorrow, hopefully I have no issues.
Adam W the 08 is a bit different but provided you can get an accessory interface you should be fine. I'm using a scosche unit with swc interface.
The headunit I bought came with a canbus adapter, if that is what you are talking about. Looks similar to the CRSR01 unit on the Scosche website. Unless you mean something else?
Adam W just plug and play for you then. post a video when it's all up and running. Good luck and hope you enjoy.

How to you change the boot image to Jeep? I cant seem to figure that out on mine.
just go into factory settings and enter 126 and change logo to Jeep
Hey mate, still experimenting with some SWC options, can you tell me which vehicle you chose in factory settings, canbus menu ? Cheers
I went down the analogue route. bought a canbus interface with built in SWC interface. think Im the using pioneer profile.

well I had a look in my factory/CANbus settings and it just says CANbus No.
my CANbus is as turned off, not used at all.
How can you stream music if you're not connected to wifi? Do you have to use your phone to stay connected?
You will require a dongle, a hotspot or a mobile phone or some sort of connection.
Useless how many times do you think we want to hear the radio. So no GPS Navigation then
Selling the vehicle now but I used Google maps and Wayze without issue.
is there a way to get rid of the beeping noise?
yes, you can turn it off if you wish
