I have just recently drove from Coniston over the Hardknott pass in August and it was a nightmare in a car, typical Scottish Coach Driver with no brains there is no way he should of took that route as the closer you get to Coniston the lane gets narrower, just plain stupid and dangerous

I could see something was bound to develop here - something perhaps similar to the closing scenes of 'The Italian Job'.

Looks like it may have recently eaten a few rabbits , they hibernate in places like rabbit warrens in winter. I think it looks like it’s ready to strike .

As an ex-coach and bus driver of more than twenty years, even if I dreamt I had tackled those passes with a full-sized coach, I would wake up and apologize. I nicked that one from Cassius Clay. lol. Seriously though, at the very least they should have taken his PSV licence from him while they tested him to see if he had mental health problems.

he's clearly never been up or down Hardknott or he'd know about the tight hairpins just before you get down into Cockley beck, no way was that coach getting through those! Why dont people take any notice of signs, morons. Having said that, if i'd just descended Hardknott on my bike that day i'd have followed him up again just to point and laugh.

This is the last place I would try to drive a coach.

There are enough warning signs saying unsuitable for HGV,s and coaches.

Must of been a foreigner who can’t read English signs who is going off his phone sat nav thinking this way is a way to get back however his phone does not know the vehicle is rather large

I was about to do the pass when a motorist flagged me down to tell me a coach was reversing all the way back after attempting it so we stopped for a pint at the Woolpack and then set off. Fantastic pub! If it wasn’t for the crazy coach driver we never would have found this great pub! We watched the coach come past whilst enjoying a pint! The pass is not a problem for light vehicles!
