I have been experiencing a problem with the DQ250 gearbox for the last 10,000 km and it sounds like this: When the clutch engages there is a clunk, the gear shifts are very linear and nothing is felt, except a clunk and a little jerk. I have noticed this phenomenon also when I go, in any gear, take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on, a clank is heard. I'll leave some videos below with what I'm trying to explain. I'm guessing it would be the dual mass flywheel, the car having 210k km. The dog bone and mounts are ok. Replaced the CV Joints but nothing changed. The sounds appears when you try to reproduce the noise which gets louder and louder the more you try to reproduce it Also when i'm in idle i feel sometimes some vibratians and when i put it in D, the vibration dissaperes. On VCDS there's no errors from mechatronic unit. What do you guys think?

Hi buddy, I have 2014 volkswagen passat tdi, 2.0l Tdi, Automatic transmission, DSG. When I warm up the car and start driving its 2 gear,3gear kind a heavy rattle sound and losing POWER kinda, under 2,000RPm, and 4,5 gear light rattle sound coming from Turbo or could be transmission, but not sure where coming from. NO CHECK Engine light, or No any light on dashboard. It's has 170,0000km. Someone said its FLYWHEEL OR TURBO TURBINE. symptoms.
Hi, The way to approach your fault and symptoms would be this, because you don't have fault codes stored, only way is to start with basic things: check gearbox oil level when gearbox temp. at 45°C and engine running. Than check turbo impeler if you have a feeling there is some sort of noise from there, Check all your engine mounts as they could give weird vibration or noise. Now about flywheel there is easy way, so when engine warm, switch off engine if you feel rattling noise while engine is stopping that is bad flywheel. So that would be few basic checks to verify is it engine or gearbox side, is all above is correct you are gonna need more investigation and try do gearbox calibration, turbocharger calibration.. Faults like that where you not really sure where coming from are hard to find and needs time to test all of it, especially I am not sure what kind of noise it is and no fault codes. Hopefully helps you Thanks for watching
I would suggest buy or rent some "ears" and pinpoint where the sound is coming from...these are nothing but wireless microphones that tell you where the sound is coming from...you could place between the trans and turbo and that will sort that out....@@out_of_service5844
Hi, I don't have a list but as much as I can remember this is all what you need: Jack, axle stands, 17mm socket, 24mm 12 point for halfshaft(some of them have Allen key 17/19mm or 30mm 12 point socket), small torx bits for undertray and airbox, Some pliers, Screwdrivers, Get some spanners (10 to 19), Full socket set, (you not gonna need all but have tham with you) Multispline M8-M10-M12 If you not taking subframe down as I did than you need 6mm long Allen key for flanges, if you taking subframe than no need. Torque wrench for flywheel tightening You need some bearing puller for crankshaft bearing or use some sharp chisel to break and take out old bearing. Watch a video to see if I missed something and as well few small things aren't on video. Hopefully information is helpful Thanks for watching
Please i want to know how car ecu know that clutch plates are finished and what sensor responsible for that I have clutch faults but car smoth and no issues
Hi, DSG 6 speed gearbox doesn't have position sensors for clutch plates as DSG 7 speed has position sensors onto the rods which pushing clutch plates, So ECU is doing calculations, I am not 100 sure which way, But can suggest to do full gearbox calibration and see than will you still have stored fault codes and which ones. Hopefully this is helpful for you Thanks
Hi, thanks for video! I have a question, I know at manually gear if you have flywheel from sachs, you have to put clutch from sachs. At DSG, you have something like this?
Hi, no here is not really like that but very often LUK comes as original and so even price better than Sachs. But it's up to you what you can source. It will work same.
You don't need to put sachs clutch if you have luk flywheel, luk makes his own version of clutch that fits on sachs flywheel, my company sold many of those
There’s 2 or 3 companies that make oem quality flywheel for these. Just get same model and you’ll be good. Heard Luk made it better then original oem with updated design or slight adjustments.
Nice video. Can I ask aquestion? I have 2.0 TSI with 7speed DSG. Replaced my OE rear main seal with iAbed rear main seal. After that the engine sound became different. More like a higher torque engine from bigger cars. The piston stroke sound is louder. Nothing else was changed. What could have caused the engine sound change? Thanks.
Hi, I'm sorry for late response, I just missed your comment. So on this type of engine there is no crankshaft sensor on rear crank seal, so nothing you could do wrong there, but what you could check is if your engine/gearbox mounts moved so slightly, sometimes it's very important to put them back on old spots as later there can be vibrations, is there any fault codes set? Hopefully this info is helpful Thanks for watching
@@out_of_service5844 Thanx for the reply. To answer your question, there isn't any fault light on the dashboard. Also, the transmission feels a little different since then. Sorry! I forgot to ask you at first ... If I don't remove the flanges, can I still take down the Gearbox? I don't want to lose the oil, because I changed it 10k km ago, thank you very much!
Hi, no worries R/H flange you need to remove because flywheel is on the way, left side can stay, but on Octavia is so close to subframe so needs to go off, Passat subframe is a bit wider. Keep that side higher while removing and fitting, maybe some clothes in place of flanges, if little oil comes out don't worry, In case more oil lost you gonna need to check level while engine running and right temp. and top up a bit Thanks
Aswell, if you have a help you can try to take box out not to remove flanges at all, I found this as best way to remove tham so no one's help needed and no removing of subframe. Bear in mind the gearbox itself weights ~92kg

Hi, So if everything was ok before check did you put gear lever cable back in proper position, as far as I remember when it is in P than the gear selector on gearbox should be in like engaged position, cannot be loose on other side, anyway length of cable not giving possibility to mess it up so much, just there is some adjustment for cable.. I would say that you need a small adjustment on the selector cable or doube check how you put it back together...if all back together perfectly then small cable adjustment should do it but check your connections first. @@out_of_service5844

Hi, first would suggest to connect on diagnostic tool and check for any fault codes, if no fault codes check oil level correctly, sometimes bad flywheel can make a delay in shifting but you can check flywheel or if very noisy it's definitely for replacement, basically delays can be couse of many different things, needs tests.
Hi, Labour cost is different in each country. The proper way to count the cost is by standard time needed to do replacement, so as I know it is ~ 4 hours, just most of workshops not pricing it by hours, they do a fixed rate depending on vehicle, very often for DSG would be a bit higher price than for manual gearbox as might need a bit more time to do it, heavier gearbox and tighter space Thanks for watching and for comment
Hi, I believe we are far away from each other, try to find local mechanic to do it. If he never did this kind of job on DSG refer him this informative video. Thanks for watching Hopefully you get sorted your car.
Hi, No there was no real ticking noise or similar, you need to check more yourself and see what type of noise it is, there could be many noises there from other parts of engine, if you think something is in around flywheel and gearbox check is there any difference when in D or P or N while you rolling only on idle slowly does noise disappear.
Hi, Yes they do get play there, just for delayed shifting it can be many different faults cousing delays and than bangs into gears. Thanks for commenting
I did read that the output shaft sensors do go on these cars more often than should be...so I would start there and look at the data vs the actual when you are driving....I don't know of any other way to test.
Hi, New bolts and a bit of loctite, bolts are coming with sort of loctite but better use extra as you don't want tham to become loose and on many engines, threads on crankshaft are passing throu inside, so if no loctite there is possibility to have oil leak. I'm glad video helps Thanks for watching

Someone said its FLYWHEEL OR TURBO TURBINE. symptoms.
Hi,
The way to approach your fault and symptoms would be this, because you don't have fault codes stored, only way is to start with basic things: check gearbox oil level when gearbox temp. at 45°C and engine running.
Hopefully helps you
Thanks for watching
Thank you for reply...
I would suggest buy or rent some "ears" and pinpoint where the sound is coming from...these are nothing but wireless microphones that tell you where the sound is coming from...you could place between the trans and turbo and that will sort that out....@@out_of_service5844
hi do you have a list of tools needed? i am looking at doing this job shortly and will want to have all the tools on hand
Hi, I don't have a list but as much as I can remember this is all what you need:
Jack, axle stands,
17mm socket, 24mm 12 point for halfshaft(some of them have Allen key 17/19mm or 30mm 12 point socket),
small torx bits for undertray and airbox,
Some pliers,
Screwdrivers,
Get some spanners (10 to 19),
Full socket set, (you not gonna need all but have tham with you)
Multispline M8-M10-M12
If you not taking subframe down as I did than you need 6mm long Allen key for flanges, if you taking subframe than no need.
Torque wrench for flywheel tightening
You need some bearing puller for crankshaft bearing or use some sharp chisel to break and take out old bearing.
Watch a video to see if I missed something and as well few small things aren't on video.
Hopefully information is helpful
Thanks for watching
Do you have to reprogram the Engine computer ??
Or what else do you have to do besides swapping the Gearbox??
I was thinking the same think.. 10/14/2024 2235
Я правильно понял что маховик степень затяжки 60кг, а потом поворот на 90 градусов?
Why did you have to replace it? What was the problem?
Do all 6speed DSG have 6 bolts going into the crank? Also are they all 240mm diameter?
Erwin doesnt give this info
Please i want to know how car ecu know that clutch plates are finished and what sensor responsible for that
I have clutch faults but car smoth and no issues
Hi,
DSG 6 speed gearbox doesn't have position sensors for clutch plates as DSG 7 speed has position sensors onto the rods which pushing clutch plates,
So ECU is doing calculations, I am not 100 sure which way,
But can suggest to do full gearbox calibration and see than will you still have stored fault codes and which ones.
Hopefully this is helpful for you
Thanks
salut! what is the reference number of that small inner bearing you replaced? thank you
Hi, thanks for video!
So theres no torque converter bolts? Just outer bolts to the block then tug it off?
Yes, this is like on normal manual transmission
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm sorry for late response, I just missed your comment.
So on this type of engine there is no crankshaft sensor on rear crank seal, so nothing you could do wrong there, but what you could check is if your engine/gearbox mounts moved so slightly, sometimes it's very important to put them back on old spots as later there can be vibrations, is there any fault codes set?
Hopefully this info is helpful
Thanks for watching
@@out_of_service5844 Thanx for the reply. To answer your question, there isn't any fault light on the dashboard. Also, the transmission feels a little different since then. The clutch is not as strong before and feels little jerky when changing gears. DSG7 auto. I am worried the guy might have changed my clutch disks. Otherwise, why my totally normal car would do that after the RMS change.
this could be just the small differences upon repair and replace....I would perform a transmission adaptations again to see if that removes the "jerk" would be the place to start that would seem logical. @@batchimed7392
Does not need coding or adaption-driving of the "new" gearbox?
Hi, it does need adaptation so to work the best after replacement
What's the problem at @23:20?
Thank you for the video! What year and model is this?
Is that up n down movement normal on a new dual mass flywheel ? Recently bought new LUK on my R32 and it had this play also straight from the box
Yes absolutely normal. As new no more than radial 19drg. Free movement before hitting the internal silicone damper stop.
How many miles and you replace the transmission??
hi, i want to make the same change on a jetta tdi 2013 dsg 6speed… what part number did you use? I have doubts with the compatibility of with luK
Hi,
If you just ask for Dual mass flywheel for 6 speed DSG gearbox you should get it right away, this is part number I used: 415 0740 09 LUK, LUK is best to use, and aswell get flywheel bolts they are not big money but best replace them.
Thanks for watching
Did you get a Luk? Imagine it was DMF181 or DMF126 right?
What happens if you do not install a bearing
in which position must remain dsg gearbox P.R or neutral thank you
Sorry! I forgot to ask you at first ... If I don't remove the flanges, can I still take down the Gearbox? I don't want to lose the oil, because I changed it 10k km ago, thank you very much!
Hi, no worries
R/H flange you need to remove because flywheel is on the way, left side can stay, but on Octavia is so close to subframe so needs to go off, Passat subframe is a bit wider.
Keep that side higher while removing and fitting, maybe some clothes in place of flanges, if little oil comes out don't worry,
In case more oil lost you gonna need to check level while engine running and right temp. and top up a bit
Thanks
Aswell, if you have a help you can try to take box out not to remove flanges at all, I found this as best way to remove tham so no one's help needed and no removing of subframe. Bear in mind the gearbox itself weights ~92kg
@@out_of_service5844 Can you tell me, please, where to leave the speed lever before I start disassembling? At what speed? P, R, N, D, S. Thank you very much!
@@out_of_service5844 yeah you can take the box out without taking flanges off ... soon as you have separated the box from the engine .. rotate the box anti clock so that the flange is roughly about 1 o'clock position .. its awkward but do able
@@smilerdon hi,
Alone is very hard as gearbox is really heavy, but yes I have been tried and I was very close to remove box, but than I said why to bother with fitting back, to remove flanges is very easy and no really oil lost.. on the car lift definitely can be done faster and easier.

I managed to change the Flywheel, about 2000 km ago and I have no problem, it works perfectly, BUT, when I put it in P, the car goes downhill, as if it were in N, do you have any idea why it doesn't get stuck? Thank you very much!
Hi,
So if everything was ok before check did you put gear lever cable back in proper position, as far as I remember when it is in P than the gear selector on gearbox should be in like engaged position, cannot be loose on other side, anyway length of cable not giving possibility to mess it up so much, just there is some adjustment for cable..
Hopefully that will help
Thanks
Did you ever get it to work properly?
I would say that you need a small adjustment on the selector cable or doube check how you put it back together...if all back together perfectly then small cable adjustment should do it but check your connections first. @@out_of_service5844

can dct gearbox equipped in a car be replaced by AMT gearbox?
Hey man was it leaking where the rear main seal is ? My car has a leak around that spot
Hey will this same flywheel replacement work for a 2011 VW cc luxury?
It should....mine was the same for 2010 Lux
Complimenti per il video quanti km ha percorso questo cambio?
Salut, poti să-mi spui codul piesa de la rulmentul ăla cu ace din mijloc?
Man that car is filthy i have the exact same one and the engine bay is nothing like that.
Hi,
Yes very oily, there was oil leak from gearbox and engine for long time I guess as previous owner probably didn't care, than got other very good condition gearbox, and engine was sorted, Now all clean as should be.

@@out_of_service5844 plus you lived in very moist and humid Ireland!
is this bearing exist in the manual transmission as well 14:56 ?
Good
Nice dude, how much torque did you put on the nuts of the DMF ?
60Nm or 44ft pounds. Then 90• turn
are need coding/synchronized for new gerbox when replacing?
Hi, Coding mostly not needed, but gearbox calibration would be definitely good to do, it still can work but better to calibrate.

hey bro could you send me link to part number ? is it gonna fix audi a3 8p 3.2 dsg quattro model ? dq250
Hi, sorry for late answer, I am not in position to find you right part number at the moment,
Hi I’ve got a 2015 Leon fr and the gearbox jumps out of gear, do you know maybe what could be wrong?
Hi,
More likely gear selector fork has problem, there is plastic guides with ball bearings where fork slides, so plastic breaks, you should drain gearbox oil, check for any metal peaces than take mechatronic unit out and check for any peaces there on gearbox edge
@@out_of_service5844 Hi Bro!!
I have that problem on my 2-4 shift fork , do you know if is necessary replace the fork or only plastic guides?
And can i remove this gearbox without a impact wrench ?
My friends gonna help me to repair , because here in Brazil this service is very expensive!
Tkssss for that great video!!!
@@vini.salgueiro hi, if you can buy only plastic guides you can replace it and it will work, if not check in main dealer price for forks and see if they are superseded then better replace for newer version forks.
@@out_of_service5844 Helloo , i did the fork replacement , thank you for the tutorial , help me so much …
But now i create other problem 🥲, I don’t know what I did but the gear makes a noise on deceleration look like a bearing sound. it’s only on deceleration , if i press a little bit the pedal , the noise stop …You have any idea to solve that ?
Before i open the gearbox , no makes this sound…
Oil level is ok ….
Tksss
I have similiar problem but just in K1 clutch...jumps out of 1st gear when taking off...I was thinking more like worn clutch disc for K1 but is there a way to tell from worn wet clutch friction, vs bad solenoid controlling K1, vs bad fork holder for 1st and reverse gears???@@out_of_service5844
why you could never find a video about similar manual transmission replacement? :)))
I want this flymon and want to know its price. can you help me
Hmm my dsg has a delay when you go on and of the accelerator, jumps a bit, is that the flywheel?
Hi, first would suggest to connect on diagnostic tool and check for any fault codes, if no fault codes check oil level correctly, sometimes bad flywheel can make a delay in shifting but you can check flywheel or if very noisy it's definitely for replacement, basically delays can be couse of many different things, needs tests.
Hello Mate. How much roughly is cost of replacement dsg flywheel in passat cc 2.0 tdi (labor) ?Thanks
Hi,
Labour cost is different in each country. The proper way to count the cost is by standard time needed to do replacement, so as I know it is ~ 4 hours, just most of workshops not pricing it by hours, they do a fixed rate depending on vehicle, very often for DSG would be a bit higher price than for manual gearbox as might need a bit more time to do it, heavier gearbox and tighter space
Thanks for watching and for comment

Thx for whatching, cheers
what was the mileage the oem DMF lasted
I think my car has same problem.
You interested to fix it?
Hi, I believe we are far away from each other, try to find local mechanic to do it. If he never did this kind of job on DSG refer him this informative video.

Hopefully you get sorted your car.
hello, does anyone know if the box has to be with the same code, or is it suitable from another car with the same engine but with a different code

@@out_of_service5844 it's ok then
did you car have a ticking noise when at idle? my DSG makes a ticking sound at idle and its not from the engine but I think from transmission
Hi,
No there was no real ticking noise or similar, you need to check more yourself and see what type of noise it is, there could be many noises there from other parts of engine, if you think something is in around flywheel and gearbox check is there any difference when in D or P or N while you rolling only on idle slowly does noise disappear.
DMF makes that noise and why I’m replacing mine. They get looser over time.
Look at that central shaft's play,I bet the clunk noise these dsg's make when they drop gears(4to3 or 3to2) is because of that sag central shaft
Hi,
Yes they do get play there, just for delayed shifting it can be many different faults cousing delays and than bangs into gears.
Thanks for commenting
I did read that the output shaft sensors do go on these cars more often than should be...so I would start there and look at the data vs the actual when you are driving....I don't know of any other way to test.
Just to confirm is this for Automatic or manual ?
dq250
Automatic
Did you use new bolts to hold the flywheel? Also did you use locktite? Thanks so much for the video 👍
Hi,
New bolts and a bit of loctite, bolts are coming with sort of loctite but better use extra as you don't want tham to become loose and on many engines, threads on crankshaft are passing throu inside, so if no loctite there is possibility to have oil leak.
I'm glad video helps

Where are based? How much do you charge to do flywheel?
Hi, while I did this, I lived in Ireland. There I would charge 300 euro for flywheel replacement. Some guys would take even more, this gearboxes are very heavy and not all mechanics are kin to do them..
Hopefully you sort yours

What about 2011 Volkswagen Jetta tdi 2.0 DSG Cbaa/Cjaa?
Does a VW Megatronic transmission have to be programmed by the dealer?
Yes, but you cant adopt a used to your vehicle. Just mount the mechatronic from your current gearbox, inside the secondhand gearbox. Check that all solonoid valves is ok, an not cloged.
how would you check your solenoid for clogging? I know about the ohms/resistance check electrically but physical clog how to check?@@jmqwert
