    Hi Sabrina! I'm an uruguayan with Czech descent from Alois Rasin! I just discovered your channel. It'd be great if you and your boyfriend come back in the summer! I'd be really happy to show you guys around! Summertime is MUCH better than winter, it's no comparison at all, and you can also visit Punta del Este and eastern cities (best time to come mid-December to mid-January). Sbohem a opatrujte se!

    Its a shame that you only had 2 days to visit Uruguay. Also too the fact that you visited in winter time you didn't get to go there at the best time, your spanish is really good!... glad you had a good experience as far as food and the fact that you met some Czech people at the coffee shop, what a coincidence. Really nice video for 2 days, glad you got to visit my country, hope you liked it !!

    Great video! You missed showing more of the Ciudad Vieja, which has a European style. The old part of the city, its streets, and buildings make it very special and historic. It would have been nice to see more of the Montevideo coast as well, which stretches over 14 miles and offers different coastal landscapes, modern buildings, parks, and a diverse and beautiful coastline. You also missed the famous neighborhood called "Carrasco," with its beautiful mansions and the historic "Hotel Casino Carrasco." I understand that you only traveled for a couple of days, but for your next trip, you should also visit Punta Del Este, one of the most famous beach cities in Latin America and recognized worldwide.

    I visited the very picturesque Colonia del Sacramento a lot of times some years ago and it was always a relaxing experience. I also enjoyed chivitos and pamplonas, street markets and gorgeous sunsets and like you, I went up the lighthouse to the top once! A pleasurable journey I'love to do again but at the moment it's too pricey for us Argentinians, so I'll have to wait. I was in Montevideo just once but I'd also like to visit again because that was in my teens. We are very close and have much in common; Uruguay is a very interesting country to explore though it takes time. I can recommend you Punta del Este in summer, a very exclusive and beautiful seaside town, but be ready to pay even more than in Montevideo. It's your time to do so, just do it and enjoy! You never know what may happen next. Lovely video, now I want to go there... ❤

    About 15% of Uruguay speaks Portuguese and a dialectal variant of Portuguese called DPU (Dialetos Portugueses do Uruguay), but Uruguayan Portuguese is popularly called Portunhol due to loanwords from Spanish. It was assumed that Uruguay was a bilingual country, but the Spanishization policy promoted by Montevideo in 1871 put an end to the project of officially bilingual Uruguay. But thanks to trade agreements, the Portuguese are able to gain strength in the border regions, mainly thanks to the binational Rivera airport and the binational technical school.

    You can't compare prices between Argentina and Uruguay and you know why.Montevideo it is pretty depends what part of the city you go to,like any other city in the world ,the difference is there are not very many cities with old architecture like Montevideo,next time go for a ride by "la rambla" all the way to Carrasco and tell us what you think. You should really come back and explore more there is so much more to see and enjoy,especially in the summer.

    Uruguay IS NOT so safe! In fact, according to what employees at 5-star hotels say, there are dangerous neighborhoods, forbidden for tourists. I was the victim of a pickpocket in Montevideo in one of my visits as a tourist. Another negative aspect: the legalization of marijuana, unlike other South American countries. In terms of jobs, Uruguay is not a paradise either. Several Uruguayans have left the country in search of better opportunities, in particular, towards Brazil.
