I'm a Volantex Ranger EX flyer. First and only FPV platform. My biggest achievement so far was to fly above the clouds.
Congratulations! Always a good moment to go above the clouds. To bad my Ranger is on a mountain 400km from where I live. (I have not flown it that distanse :p )

Of all the flights in such hard to get to places, did you have any crashes that were completely lost or unrecoverable?
Thank you. This year I only lost the Ranger EX on the mountainside.It was not that far up, but the cliff was almost verticle. All other aircrafts was recovered , some whole and some not!

Speaking of the Ranger, Do you have a picture or thread that shows how you attached the camera boom on the front? I would like to do that on my ranger.
Yeah it was a sad day! Sorry, but didn`t find any pictures... I drilled a hole in the nose, put in a 15cm pipe through the hole and against the plywood at the bottom of the fuselage then ran a couple of hot glue sticks over it.... Then fitted a longer carbon tube inside the pipe. The hardest part was getting the camera angle correct. For the Hercules I used one of these to mount the camera on the end of the tube: hobbyking.com/en_us/universal-stick-on-mount-for-the-mobius-actioncam.html

Thanks. The plane on the steep mountain side is still not recovered (most valuable part was a Gopro 4 BE with many great videos from that day still on it) All other aircraft survived one way or another...

I "lost" (read crashed) a Bix1 with multiple video recorders onboard near the top of one of the tallest peaks at Smith Rock in Oregon 2yrs ago. Unfortunately, it was the ONE peak nobody climbs due to the poor rock condition so it is still there today. Feeling your pain!

I was about to ask if you've ever had to go on a hike into those beautiful mountains on a rescue mission. The end of the video pretty much answers my question. Still. Have you had any crashes that you can see but not touch? No doubt you have heard it already, but you do live in beautiful country.
Handley Machine i had a crash recently where i couldn't get to the place where i chrashed.... maybe i'll be able to get my plane in summer... hopefully

If you don't fly with a stabilizer or autopilot in most of you platforms do you use an OSD for GPS coordinates? I guess now you can get it from DLv3 telemetry but for those of us (me) who don't have it do you recommend just sticking with a good OSD? I have been going back and forth for about a month on whether I should buy an autopilot.
If you can afford it I would recoment a Vector AP. I had one on my MyTwinDream, but it did not help when I fucked up as a pilot! My other aircrafts just have a simple osd volt and timer, others have voltage sensor connected to DL so i will beep when it reaches a preset level. I also use a GPS tracker as a backup safety, but I need a new one after it went down with the MyTwinDream...
andberge Do you use one of the GSM GPS trackers with a subscription or something like the Tbeacon?
Yes. I have had great success with the RF-V16 (needs a sim card) and Trackimo (build in sim with one year subcribtion)
say what happened to the Skywalker X8. I'm a little curious about why it hasn't been in the last two "Best of the year" series? great video though. As always I'm very impressed.
At the end I did not manage to launch it without stalling. Got sick of trying and then rebuilding the nose. I have a X7 sitting in a box for over a year now that might replace it...

Thanks you. It did not go well, only the fuselage and cloverleaf anetnna survived. Two Runcam 2 at the ocean floor, burned the Vector and ESC`s. Motor, reciever, vtx, GPS tracker, flight camera, 4s 9000mah lipo all got damges from the salt water... :(
The fuselage was still in one peace, but has some major burn marks and melted foam

Bruker Xiaomi Yi på min Z3. Den er utrulig nok fortsatt hel, men det har blitt noen nosejobs etter failed launch...
Har ikke testet session, har helt sluttet med Gopro siden jeg hadde så høyt forbruk av dem :(
Bruker kun Runcam 2. Den er litt treg å endre seg etter lysforholdene, men det er mye bang for det buck!
Må få til en nord-norsk FPV festival i løpet av sesongen...

Hope you don't mind me asking but what did you use on your Gladiator XL in terms of motor and batterys
No problem. I use a Aerodrive 3536 1400kv. Used to have two 3S 3000mah, one on each side. But have rebuilt it to have one 4S 6200mah in the senter. The 4S setup is used in this video. 9x6 on 3S. 8x6 on 4S with the same motor

Hi. For increased range of rc-control I use a DragonLink UHF 433mhz transmitter. This is connected to your excisting radio. It works with almost any radio with a PPM signal output (module bay or trainer port)
There is many different UHF systems out there that works well, but I have only used DragonLink and I am very satisfied with it.

It is still fixable, it only has some burn marks and the canopy is mising. I have new electronics laying around for it.

No! This location is a 5 hour drive + a ferry ride away so I have not tried to get it back. Gave my phone number to some locals in case it fell down, but I never heard anything... Worst thing was all the clips on the memory in the Gopro got lost also :(
