Rich Graham visited Griffin Fitness in Benicia, CA to share some training tips. Here is a brief clip focusing on how you can effectively and efficiently use your legs to properly preform a rope climb. Rich is a former Navy SEAL and has extensive training on obstacles and ropes while wearing full kit. This is the technique that he uses to tackle this obstacle.

terrific job
Good to hear that it is working for everyone there!
that is awesome to hear!
yes, for the grip strength and the lats you can put roll up dish towels and drape them over a pull up bar and do pull ups gripping on the them.
Exactly.
I can't learn something most times unless there is something physical to refer the memory to, but once I get it, it truly is game on.
Keep these awesome videos coming, dude.
Wow that's badass, had to do two rope climbs in the spartan beast I did all arms, that will defiantly make it easier.
Great tip
Great point! Much harder! The smaller the rope the harder it will be to climb in general. You cant use your legs as much and it is actually harder on your grip strength in most cases.
Far out man. I've seen lots of people use this technique but I never caught on to the feet-switching-sides-when-you-pull-up part so I just always employed a different foot lock technique. Looking forward to giving this a try.
Awesome video man. It's a long story, but your fitness videos have been extremely helpful in getting me towards my goal of competing in a spartan race.
cool, awesome method
Great video and you made us all climbing rope freaks at Griffin Fitness - Thanks again.
great channel
It's tricky to get the foot work down but once it clicks its game on!
Possibly, but it would be different for every carrier and what peoples job/task/mission was.
Push them close to each other and do your pullups standing parallel with the bar. pull up bringing your head to each side every other rep. this will get the upper body good, but the foot work you need a rope.
It took me about 6 tries to get this in OSUT and even then I still didn't get it right, but I still swatted the flag.
Thanks for the video.
All your videos are always inspiring. Very cool beat for the video intro and outro. Much better than the ones you used in your old videos.
Speaking of body armor, can you do a video on the type of gear you use and how you set it up? I just got a LBT 6094A plate carrier and would like some tips on what I should put on it and how you would set it up. Thanks!
Great video, keep em' coming. This one made me think of something. So the new season of American Ninja warrior is out and my kids and I love watching it, my question is.... Are going to see Rich Graham at American Ninja Warrior Next year? ;)
Great video bro
How much harder would this technique be on much smaller ropes? The only time I see ropes this large are mooring lines on military ships. Thanks for the vid, very cool.
Haha we will see!
thanks Kelvin!
