Father Josiah is the only orthodox person I know with ten kids. And I’ve been going to Orthodox Churches for 26 years. Thought this was an excellent interview fr Trenham, big respect for some of the difficult truths you've discussed here. A couple points I'd like to add or pose - Overwhelming majority of converts to Orthodoxy are young men, for now at least, though it's possible young women may eventually follow. That said, I'd like to hear EO priests have a tough-love heart to heart with these younger brothers discussing the statistically likely possibility that many of these young men may never find a wife & may have to take the aesthetic/monastic path. Young western women are predominantly living financially independent from men, focusing on academic pursuits, contraception/abortion/fornication/single mothering etc. Often if they are are frequenting "churches" they are attending the woke rainbow protestant churches like the methodists or even submitting to female pastor led "churches" which is a disgrace - Regarding your stance that all ethnicities in Christ are "of the same flock" so to speak (which of course I'd agree with), I'd also like to raise the point that it's only western nations being flooded with different races (or ethnicities if you prefer) from widely different foreign cultures, oftentimes with these immigrants refusing to even learn English years or decades after they've emigrated here. I do believe a core component to a safe nation or state/social group is that people reside in multi-generational communities based upon not only shared religious convictions but also shared genetic traits & locally grounded extended families, which are high trust. The US with wide open borders, and well past the 1965 immigration act, has led to a low trust, low church participating, raised crime rated (including violent) & low volunteering type society. There is a war being waged against the white or foundational European stock of America & this topic (while uncomfortable) should have some airtime with the church clergy. We are being conquered, not just by men's lust via pornography or women's vanity via social media but by people who have no business being in this country to begin with, legally or illegally
the oldest kids raise the youngest and all of them are being raised with insecurity on "why am i not good enough" they will look for validation outside and sin and then come back to their default programming , that happens like clock work.
Beautiful speech about marriage coming from a duplicate church that allows divorce and remarriage up to three times! Marriage is beautiful, it's holy, it's sacramental, but you are allowed to desecrate it three times. Three for the Holy Trinity! Come back to the One, True, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Assuming you are referring to the Catholic church. I wouldn't say the track record for marriages is very good on only having "one" holy marriage. The Orthodox church recognizes marriages outside the church have "potential " to be holy, but some include a non believer, and they walk away from marriage. So yes there may be a second marriage, that will hopefully be "holy" for the believing spouse who always intended for one marriage to begin with. Yes please return to the "One holy catholic and apostolic church" 💯 .
The teaching on contraception due to not being specific on when and how it is possible to be with ones wife leads me to confusion. If you cannot use contraception, you mean to say, you cannot ever be with your wife except to have children? So you can have relations with her perhaps a few times in your life? Please explain. Otherwise a good talk.
I think this teaching is very clear: the sexual intimacy has to be always open to children. And from that point it’s God’s will and God’s work. And Apostle Paul is very clear that sexual intimacy shouldn’t be avoided so in that way to avoid any sexual temptation. On the other hand the Old Testament is clear that the woman (aka wife) is not clean for sexual intimacy during her period. I presume this stays valid in the context of the New Testament as well.
Concerning marriage and divorce the antiochians have submitted themselves to the government and you are not allowed to remarry even if you've been separated for 10 years unless you have the government document declaring the marriage over.
@@alexb7596 Having sex without a chance of the woman getting pregnant is a sin, therefore having sex while the woman is pregnant(so no sex for 9 months). And if you are having sex regularly every month with your wife(unless its a fast since its also forbidden to have sex in fasts) it pretty likely that she will get pregnant with a child within the first year(80%ish), then no sex for 9 months and the same thing on repeat.. So basically 9 months of sex and then 9 months without sex. And then what If I get to the point at where I do not want more children, then I just cannot have sex anymore? I want to have kids but I dont want to have so many that I cannot handle it. But yet again God knows how much I can handle and he wont give me more then i can handle. But I sure do not want to have 10 kids for obvious reasons of the struggle of showing enough care to each child... I don't understand how someone can have 10 kids like Father Josiah, thats unimaginable to me.
Nothing against the father whom I don't really know, but it says a lot to me about the downfall of the Romanian Orthodox Church if we need American Orthodox fathers to visit and preach in Romania. God bless ecumenist Teofan. Forgive me father.
Excuse me father, but there is no church going in protestantism... you will not encounter God there, just the god of this world... Apologies if I'm rushing or misunderstanding...

@@ballbreathtaker9773so what he said? I can't have sex with my wife unless i want to have kids??
Such a horrific attack happened on children to destroy the nuclear family.
Why did he say who prolly only has another 10-20 years of life, when he’s only in his late 50s 🤔
Concerning marriage and divorce the antiochians have submitted themselves to the government and you are not allowed to remarry even if you've been separated for 10 years unless you have the government document declaring the marriage over.
Wait so I can only have sex with my wife when I'm making a child? I cannot have sex any other time otherwise it's a sin?
Not at all. Enjoy the blessings of marriage. Ine of which is children, but there are others as well, intimacy being one.
I believe the idea is that you can be with your wife but it should be left s possibility to have a child
So you're saying once a woman's period is late no more intimacy. There is no possibility of impregnating an already pregnant woman. 😅 what nonsense.
What is the meaning of Serena's opening question "when did you encounter the God(s) with an S?
A slip up by a non native English speaker
Nothing against the father whom I don't really know, but it says a lot to me about the downfall of the Romanian Orthodox Church if we need American Orthodox fathers to visit and preach in Romania. God bless ecumenist Teofan. Forgive me father.
It's almost like... we're dealing with forces beyond our control! Imagine that! Satan playing tricks on people?!
Why do priests wear black, isn't only for monks?
What does she mean "when did you first encounter the gods in plural?
She’s Romanian so English isn’t her first language. I’m sure it was just a slip.
Cristos a înviat
I don’t get why America can’t have the American Orthodox Church but have endless denominations of the likes of “the church of Kurt Cobain”.
Excuse me father, but there is no church going in protestantism... you will not encounter God there, just the god of this world... Apologies if I'm rushing or misunderstanding...
