Catch fish from the North Kent Coast: WHITSTABLE - TANKERTON BAY

  • An autumn, daytime session (recorded on 20.10.20) at Tankerton Slopes, Whitstable (Kent, UK). My first visit to this area and although I was hoping for flatfish, the session turned out to be one catching small bass. Rig changes were made in order to try and catch larger specimens, or to snare something different.

    Did you see Peter Cushing ?.... seemingly he lives in Whitstable and can often be seen buying vegetables 🌽 🤣🤣. Now unless you’re over 50 and we’re into an obscure band growing up called Half Man Half Biscuit.... you won’t have a clue????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Another great watch sir , much appreciated 👍🏻

      If he was after Dracula, he should have been in Whitby - or is that the wrong Peter Cushing? Thanks for watching Shaun.

      Peter Cushing passed away some time ago, not forgotten the local Weatherspoons is named after him!
      Yes, he was the Hammer House of Horror actor, lived in Joy Lane, which is between Whitstable and Seasalter- another good fishing venue.

      @@rodsangleuk6283 - do you by chance have a video on how to make your loop rig? I make & use all your other types of rig here in NZ (usually after Christmas fishing for Moki & Gurnard), but have never used the loop rig

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for asking Ian - at the moment, no. I will incorporate a tutorial on tying loop rigs and my permutations of them in a future video though. I generally only do this if I have a session when I've caught on a particular rig, but there was a problem with the filming and I haven't enough, good footage to justify putting it out! I will find a context for a loop rig video soon though, hopefully before the new year - I am running low on them, so need to make up some more soon. My next video with a rig making session in it will be in a couple of weeks - it will cover the Sheppey rig - I'm running low on them as well!

    Not a bad session and an excellent video once again. You do spoil us! Not sure what others think, but the anticipation of you catching something "worthwhile" is, for me, quite exhausting...part of the charm of watching your videos I think. Am I correct in thinking that Whitstable is a shallow water venue? As ever, looking forward to your next offering. Cheers. Ken

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks again Ken. Yes, just like most of Sheppey, the Isle of Grain and nearby Seasalter, the tide does go out a fair way. A good venue though and I took up and learned to fish at Seasalter, so look forward to covering more of the area in the new year. Best wishes.

    Hey Rod, I was born and raised in Whitstable and I am a keen sea angler. Learned the 'trade' on these very beaches and particularly fishing on the right hand side of the Street, where my parents had a beach hut. Also fished with the now defunct Whitstable and District Angling Society, who had two big open comps a year all along this coast, attracting anglers from all over the country. Did you ever fish them Rod?
    Good times.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing Andrew. No I don't sea match fish - do too much coarse match fishing to fit it all in. I've fished either side of the Street - video scheduled for mid December - maybe you will be able to tell me where I've gone wrong! I'll be back for the dabs.

      Keep at it - I see a few anglers lure fishing and they do say that they catch now and again. Plenty of bass top close in at the top of the tide and I believe The Street is also worth a go at low water.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Largely depends on what you're after and conditions. Often it pays to 'hit the horizon' - but you could miss out on the fish that have come in close. By fishing two rods, you can cover more ground. Thanks for watching and commenting Andy.

    Great vid Rod. When you say "a long range cast" how far in yards or metres are you suggesting. You don't seem to be having to make a huge effort so must be a good rod/reel comb.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, with the wind from behind a simple, smooth flowing overhead cast is all that is needed to hit 100yds with 20lb braid on a sensible reel and a long, not too floppy rod. Thanks for watching Tony.
