Remember when live performances were live? and had some soul? feeling? emotion? One good thing about modern media I suppose is we can still watch Patti. Fukn awesome.
There is a spot in the R&R Hall of Fame for this wonderfully beautiful influecer who has been doing it forever it seems; well, since we were kids anyway. What passion!
This is one of the world's most beautiful women, one of literature's most honest and intriguing voices, one of the most exciting performers on the stage... yes, you could say I've got a vibe for Patti, and it goes back to her first show in Detroit, at the Masonic Temple. Her band was preceded by Fred Sonic Smith's band Sonic's Rendezvous, which I had followed at Second Chance, a bar in Ann Arbor, and before then, when I was in my teens, I saw him many times with the legendary and genuinely revolutionary MC5. I've seen Patti many times and it's never anything less than a spiritual experience. And her book, "Just Kids," shows she doesn't need a band or a stage to be at her best.
I heard an duett between bruce and patti on the rock´n roll hall of fame concert last year....was just the best thing I´ve ever heard....the best musicians in the world...together with one of the best songs in the world......
This woman is a pioneer of folk, punk, rock and modern music. Her career has spanned decades and her songs and poetry can never be duplicated but she is often copied and covered by muscians who understand her love for artistry.
My friend and I went to her outdoor concert in philly many years ago. My father picked us up afterwards. As he waited Patti Smith lite up a stoogie during a photo op and offered it to my father. He almost fainted. A memory that will never fade.
Vintage Patti! That amazing combination of 'tough as nails' and vulnerability - Check out the bassist at 2:53 - telling Sarah that the solo's over great vid, thanks for putting it up

I am so sorry I only discovered the genius of Patti, and the greatness of her lyrics and vocals, recently! I have a lots of catching up to do! I heard the song Dancing Barefoot (Daisy Jones) and was completely smitten - cannot wait to do a cover of it! Any suggestions for the best of her songs and work?
I really regret that I didn't know much about Patti, I'm a fan now❤ MTV was about the only place to find great music 🎶 like hers Of course, I was always a Springsteen fan
She is, as every freaking time I have seen the literal, to my mind, the best of all us rockers. Note: this show: downbeat 3 off...Your up with Bruce! And Bono! And plenty of other singers.????? Patti?Help? Where the 1? Of, there it is!!! Down on the downbeat! Thank you, milady. Rockon! Exquisite.
So..Dec. 5th….I looked at her web site..hadn’t since Covid hit. She was at the Saban theater that nite..for her new book of photographs..it was great. She sang with one guitarist and u got a copy of book. 2022
@JCBAirmaster73 I do not know who wrote the melody, but I am 110% SURE Patti wrote the lyrics. ONLY she could have written this. It is completely her style. Wonderful
I remember going to patties house for her daughter's birthday With my friend jack walls. Jack was Robert Mapplethorpe's companion, And sadly patty was deeply in love with Robert Until the day that tinker bell Told her Robert was gay Anyway She was really sweet it was 1 of the coolest moments of my life. Lost touch with jack so I hope he's doing well. It was a very confusing and interesting time of my life
plus it is her song after all. that has to count for something. who is Natalie Merchant, I forget .I saw Patti Smith four or five times in the 70's and I assure you she cleared the brush like an asteroid sweeping planet. I don't think Merchant could pull that off. then or now.
yes i am ignorant. but to some extent i'm AWARE of my ignorance. each day i become more and more aware of just how little there is that i DO know. (if i don't in fact know nothing, i know NEXT to nothing.) as for opening a book, i have trouble concentrating. so reading is difficult for me. and as for my "getting a clue," in my case it may be too late in late in life for that. thanx for taking me down a peg, giving my ego a well-deserved punturing, and making me aware of my limitations.
Some people are just cool at a DNA level. Patti Smith is one of them.
She’ll always be relevant
A truly timeless talented and beautiful soul for the ages.
16 years later and I still get goose bumps every time I hear this.
yep its good.
J’ai toujours la cher de poule à chaque fois que je l’écoute
yeah, it's everything, but particularly a helluva song written by Smith and Springsteen
Remember when live performances were live? and had some soul? feeling? emotion?

Can’t people just enjoy musical performances *without* taking time to denigrate music they don’t like?

She is her own instrument ~ Perfect time, pitch and presence‼️

She still has it. Incredible. Always been a huge fan of her.
Patti Smith is a goddess, and we're indescribably lucky to have the privilege of listening to her music, reading her poetry, and regarding her art
Fantastic
Magnificent voice. So powerful.
Only the writer of these lyrics could put in the passion... I LOVE THIS

There, ladies and gentleman, is 100% class on a stage!

Bruce Springsteen should be recognized for his contributions writing this classic. Well Done Boss.
Bridges DID recognize Springsteen in his intro, "...perform the classic hit she wrote with Bruce Springsteen..."
I like that song
Patti is the best

My god thanks for this I love this woman
So powerful! ❤️Patti
So powerful and in command. The Drummer is a bad ass.
When I listen to this song I can feel the heavy influence of Patti Smith in PJ Harvey ❤️
Written by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen.
Piano 🎹 from Sarah McLachlan sounds great 👍 Patti Smith sounds great 👍
Because they're friends, they're both artists as well as singers/musicians, and Sarah plays piano really well :)
Because the night belong to PATTI SMITH and only...SHE was on of the BEST rock singer of all time...Thanks so much for touching my soul...

He didn’t play a solo, she was also playing as well; it was so that they came in together for the next phrase.
Take me now, baby here as I am
Pull me close, try to understand
Desire is hunger, is the fire I breathe
Love is a banquet on which we feed
Come on now, try and understand
The way I feel when I'm in your hands
Take my hand, come undercover
They can't hurt you now
Can't hurt you now
Can't hurt you now
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because thе night belongs to us
How I doubt when I'm alone
Lovе is a ring on the telephone
Love is an angel disguised as lust
Here in our bed 'til the morning comes
Come on now, try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand as the sun descends
They can't touch you now
Can't touch you now
Can't touch you now
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
With love, we sleep
With doubt the vicious circle turns and burns
Without you I cannot live
Forgive, the yearning burning
I believe it's time, too real to feel
So touch me now
Touch me now
Touch me now
Oh, because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
Because the night belongs to lovers
If we believe in the night we trust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us
WOW and Wow!!!! SOULFULL!!!!!! ROCK ON!

You do know that Patti cowrote the song with Bruce, don't you?
Check out The classic rock show version.. it's good too.
