Why I don't wanna be a sponsored motocross rider. I'll just appreciate having fun on trails and tracks while I can, bc it's not worth the constant risk. Ps: Ryan Villopoto, you rule! 🤘🤘
He was one of my favorite riders of all time. Spent his whole pro career with team green, gotta respect that these days. He was a straight up monster on a bike and is a LEGEND #RV2 for life
It's nice to see his success after seeing the sacrifices necessary. At the same time I wonder how many parents give up their businesses (or likewise) for their child's success, only to never see it. THAT WOULD BE TOUGH. My dad kept his business, giving me a job at 14yrs old to buy a dirt bike, but I never could afford to race. "I'll give you a job, but I'm done buying you toys."
i like he was blunt and open about how he felt without sugar coating his response, maybe not ever rider feels the same as him but after watching the video i have respect for him and can see how the fun of going out and burning laps can have the fun taken out of it
At 21:43 Ryan's Mom says "I look forward to the day that he's not the racer". That day is today (7-9-15) the day Ryan official retired from professional Motocross and Supercross racing.
At 16:40, Ryan's sister said something very important that went over all of your heads. Because her family raced with Ryan every weekend, "People always say I got the bad end of the deal. But in my eyes, (and marvelous brain she has), I didn't, because I got to see my brother do something he loved. (here it comes) I GOT TO SEE MY BROTHER,---BECOME SOMEBODY GREAT!". How important is that, to have somebody great to look up to? Well, most of our hero's are gone, and we look up to the bum in the street now, (pretty much). For the man who wants to marry this gal, you better be a hero or on your way to become one, because this sharp lady will not accept anything else, and she should not accept anything else. Those words from her are the most important words in the entire vid,----and you guys don't get it. You look up to bums, like guys with a channel but can't make a main event. You cheer for the struggle, not real greatness. That folks, does a future no good. Kylie Villopoto,---is a sharp young lady, and I have little doubt she will achieve greatness in her own right also.
Respect to you bro. It's only builders and creators who would catch that.....and I thought a similar thing, though not as explicit as you, when she said that: What an amazing thing to be so aware that people create themselves, at such a young age. I hate to be a gambler (but I am), and awareness is no guarantee of success (I wish it weren't the case), but I would be curious to know where she winds up (because I'm betting everything on myself.) Rough seas and a steady breeze my friend.
WOW!! Great documentary. I knew it was tough, but not that tough. I salute Ryan's family and all the families like his!! Ryan, give them some hugs!! Could a riders union be formed to set up a pension to be funded by the bike manufacturers, AMA, the tracks, the sponsors etc? Also make it a little safer? Ryan, like your sister said, "you're a superstar", thanks to your whole family, Aldon and you.
I was lucky enough to get to meat him, I was at Washougal In the pits and he walked up to me and asked if I wanted an autograph, favorite rider of alltime
an awesome story, sad the family situation went through such a hard period, his sister is an amazing person, like Ryan one in a million, one thing is for sure, this family works through the most challenging things like only champions can, they are all champions, hope his brother has more success too.
Got to see him win Washougal in 2013 his first pro race win there. The second moto was insane the crowd was so loud. RV blitz the finish woops to the inside of Dungey next turn. That’s a good passing area never forget that doubt he will either.
I can still remember as a kid, watching Villopoto jump off the bike mid air and breaking his leg. We all thought his career was done right there. You don't crash like that and keep racing. But Villopoto did it. It goes to show who he was and how good he really was.
The point it is that many riders do not go true such fitness program but they are so good on bike, such talent that they have better results. Toby Price in Dakar in one then back in the day Peter Iven in mx!chubby guy,not fitness I g as others but he slay them all...some guys are just made better then others in riding regiment.
When your a racer and you watch somebody race it’s like torture because you just want to know what they are thinking and feeling it’s Makes me sweating and my heart starts racing like I’m the one in the Race it just gets me pumped up and ready to Race myself
tryumph......what is he a god? Ryan himself would disagree, that he is anything but human.....he is a born-again Christian....and everything was sacrificed towards his success.....he works hard...he's committed....and he's an athletic.
Lost Soul We cannot loose our souls because we don't own them. All souls belong to God........what happened to you to feel lost? You seem humble too.....Motocross/Supercross is a very demanding sport...Ryan is one of the Best!

You just have the hots for her, so quit kissing her ass she’s way outta your league
I've been racing since 1985 and believe me we trained.

A great look into a misunderstood sport, and person!
Very cool videos dangerous sport
I was at the Salt Lake City race :)
I have so much more respect for Ryan now.
No disrespect towards Ryan. He was the fastest guy on a motorcycle in his day. He's also a great person and a great inspiration to the sport.

I had the exact same injury, it sucks.
