  • A mostly fantastical look at the Monkees tv appearances in 1969. Editor's note: The Monkees never appeared on Playboy After Dark or at Woodstock. And Bye Bye Baby Bye Bye was never on American Bandstand. Enjoy the short ride anyway,

Even though I was born in 1967, I can kinda remember seeing The Monkees reruns on TV. I really liked them. Micky Dolenz’s curly hair is All That!!! He looks soooo handsome with the curly fro and sideburns ❤❤❤❤❤❤!

Yes, the reruns were very popular at that time. I was born in 1965. I watched the reruns as a kid, in the 1970s

Peter had left the Monkees sometime in 1968, so he did not contribute to this song.

    What happened to Peter Tork?
He was an integral part of The Monkees

Tork left The Monkees at the end of 1968. They were a trio in 1969 and only a duo in 1970 after Nesmith quit. Peter Tork did not return to the group until the 1986 reunion tour.

They should've tried out different musical instruments such as the French horn, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, clavichord, bassoon, pan flute, oboe, or even the harp. It's understandable that there's no variety of musical instruments they've tried.

It's funny because every time you see a musical instrument. In David Jones's hands, you know, hes not playing It. The only musical instruments he could play back then was the tambourine and the moroccans which, by the way, anyone can play

Actually, he could play drums. Davy Jones should have been the drummer in The Monkees but because he was short the producers didn't want him hidden behind a drum kit. So they made Micky Dolenz the drummer, which is ironic because Dolenz was a good guitar player. Davy Jones could also play a bit of guitar, but the other three were better guitarists so Jones didn't play guitar much on Monkees recordings until the Justus album of 1996.

Davy also played bass live, as well as on the Glenn Campbell appearance.

@@kithale316 and thank God for that because if he was part of a musical group and 30 years later he was still playing the maracas he would have been laughed off the stage
