And vote for whom? Sinn Féin, who haven’t got a coherent policy on any issue? Perhaps Labour, considering they were part of the coalition that bankrupted the country? How about the tankies over at PBP? Or the Social Democrats, whose sole purpose is to pander in order to appear palatable to younger voters despite not having a solid plan?
Face it, voting in Ireland is a waste of time, and the electorate is comprised almost entirely of politically illiterate fools with a memory less than that of a goldfish and an IQ in the single digits.

The schemes are driving up prices. Anyone on the average wage cannot afford a home. Not a property, not an investment, not a house, a home.

In 1990, an average house costed 3 times the average salary in Ireland. Today, an average house costs 7.5 times the average salary. Our country has been going down hill for a long time and it's not going to get better. Cost of living goes up drastically and salaries stay the same.

The state cant build a bike shed right and the childrens hospital is 2 years late while more than double the budget yet SF's plan is for the state to build houses !!!!!!
SF also object to every build to let home while ignoring the rental crisis and the fact a rented home is still a home and an additional supply of housing.

I don’t justify what happened this decade and what’s happening now as well, but I still don’t get why this woman can only complain, saying that she would do better etc. but without explaining in a detailed way to the population how she could deliver more houses than the actual coalition.
For example: what about workforce? Delivering 2 times more houses means you have 2 options, your actual workforce has to work 16 hrs instead of 8, or you have to bring more construction workers here, where do they sleep? She said it’s about bureaucracy, but you really think that is because of bureaucracy that you complete half of the houses you should deliver? It’s a bit hard to believe, and if so, why don’t you prove it to the population?
Second question: if you bring more people here and spend more public money, what about inflation?
Third question: Central Bank has estimated you have to build 52000 houses every year for 25 years to keep up with demand… so 1.3 Mln of houses, average 3 people per house means that we’ll be almost 4 mln people more in 2050? Or there actually are 4 mln people without a home rn? This is not clear as well, what about the real estate market? Has Ireland the capacity to see its population growing till 10 mln people by 2050? I don’t think so… therefore it means that you might destroy real estate market at that pace of 52000 houses per 25 year, especially without any significant infrastructural plan.
This woman seems more superficial than the actual government, at least the new PM is showing more awareness about economical wisdom, if you think about the establishment of the sovereign fund to put all the surplus there, against inflation.
We’ll see what will happen, but the opposition looks like poor and sterile in my opinion

Who cares if you destroy the housing market, homes are to live in, they're not equity. They're only worth something if you're trying to sell them and all people want to do is buy them right now.

@ I don’t think that my comment is intelligent, it’s simply a brief analysis of what’s happening and what could happen in terms of real and external factors…everybody should do it, the thing is that they’re too emotional maybe.
I think that whoever is in charge will face a serious problem to solve and apparently nobody of those who claims to be better has demonstrated how to fix this problem.
I can only see that the situation is slightly better since Harris took over as a PM, but really slightly.
I hope everything will fix soon

The problem is that SF has low quality policies and extremely lazy TDs in the Rep of Ireland -- not in the North.
Mary Lou would do well to remember that she is a TD in ROI yet is always playing big sister in Belfast.

The biggest issue I have with my vote going to SF is that all they know how to do is criticise other peoples plans rather than talk about their own solutions, like they say they will build far more houses, great, but considering the construction industry is flat out at the moment HOW will they make that happen?
I remember O'Broin got ripped to pieces by Darragh OBrien in a debate at the last election because his plans were all aspirational dreams.

All politicians have made these promises it's not only the government, we should also blame our co/councils, they are even worse, I waited 13yrs as a single father fo housing in carlow, and I hav e seen more imagrants get housing before me who definitely were not on the list before me, vote for anyone even a raving luney party before FG and THE GREENS,But more questions need to be asked about our local councillors,
