I don’t justify what happened this decade and what’s happening now as well, but I still don’t get why this woman can only complain, saying that she would do better etc. but without explaining in a detailed way to the population how she could deliver more houses than the actual coalition. For example: what about workforce? Delivering 2 times more houses means you have 2 options, your actual workforce has to work 16 hrs instead of 8, or you have to bring more construction workers here, where do they sleep? She said it’s about bureaucracy, but you really think that is because of bureaucracy that you complete half of the houses you should deliver? It’s a bit hard to believe, and if so, why don’t you prove it to the population? Second question: if you bring more people here and spend more public money, what about inflation? Third question: Central Bank has estimated you have to build 52000 houses every year for 25 years to keep up with demand… so 1.3 Mln of houses, average 3 people per house means that we’ll be almost 4 mln people more in 2050? Or there actually are 4 mln people without a home rn? This is not clear as well, what about the real estate market? Has Ireland the capacity to see its population growing till 10 mln people by 2050? I don’t think so… therefore it means that you might destroy real estate market at that pace of 52000 houses per 25 year, especially without any significant infrastructural plan. This woman seems more superficial than the actual government, at least the new PM is showing more awareness about economical wisdom, if you think about the establishment of the sovereign fund to put all the surplus there, against inflation.
