SWING SLOWER FOR MORE DISTANCE?! MIZUNO JPX923 HOT METAL IRONS TESTED

  • ► In this video, Joel Tadman tests the three new Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal irons on the launch monitor and the course at Longcliffe Golf Club to see how they perform. Interestingly, Mizuno has added a new High Launch model this time around and so Joel does a little experiment to see if golfers with slower swing speeds will actually get more distance from an iron with weaker lofts. Watch to the end to find out if this is the case...

    Just ordered a set of 923 Pro. Tested them several times and loved them. Can’t wait to play a round.

    Very helpful video! 👍 I am seriously considering the JPX 923 HL’s and yours is the first I’ve seen that has tested the clubs at a lower swing speed to show the advantage of the HL’s for that type of golfer (me).

    I have been having trouble getting distance in my 4 and 5 iron, so I picked up two HL's in the same clubs. amazing. I hit the 5 HL off of a tee on a short par 4, I got 180 yards and that never happens. that was 180 carry. rest of my set are the 923 HM pro.

    Switched out of the JPX 921 Forged into Combo set of JPX 923 Hot Metal (4,5,6) and Hot Metal Pro (7,8,9,W). Have to say I like them.

    Great video! I think the JPX 923 hot loft of a 7 iron is about 28. The HL is 31, it's hard to believe that you would hit them farther.

    Just ordered a set of hot metal pros and I’m a 12 handicap. In a year or two I hope to be on the 225’s or equivalent. Been playing big fat boy Nike Slingshots since my teens and I can NOT wait to finally move on!

    My Brother got the JPX923 HM (Normal Irons) And they are great Irons. You need to be descent Ball Striker to play with them but if you are descent ball striker they are great with distant, feel, and spin.

    Joel, you have opened up a whole can of worms as a 76 years young golfer I would definitely be keen to try the JPX923 HL to see if they would fit into my swing speed and be using shorter irons instead of longer irons for the distance I needed!

      I would say they sound like the perfect match for you John! Keep me updated. Joel

      @@GolfMonthly Can 225 compete with 923 on distance and forgiveness--or too big a difference?

    Great information…would be nice to see more detailed data on the HL version…I’m mid 50s and had 2 hip replacements, so swing speed with a 7 iron is 75mph, so these would be a nice change from my current T200 irons, but not sure how they compare…I’m a 10 HCPer so like smaller, compact irons (just can’t hit anything too big)…Thanks again!

    Thanks for the review! Do you have any plans to compare the JPX 923 HMP with the Mizuno Pro 225? I'd be interested seeing how they compare in distance, feel, sound, forgiveness. Thanks again

      Spot on, there's some definite crossover between those two irons! The Hot Metal Pro is 1.5° stronger in the 7-iron and a little larger, so I imagine it will be longer and more forgiving. But yes, hoping to compare the two more closely in the future. Joel

    Obviously you are a terrific golfer compared to most of us with HCs of 14 - 20. I wonder how these Miszuno Hot Metal irons would help us. Which would suit golfers with 70 mph, or less, swing speeds with a 7 iron? That's what I would like to know / see.

    Hi Joel - how long should it take you to get used to new irons? I've been fitted with new irons and i'm struggling a bit.. Thanks - great video!

    • @GolfMonthly
      @GolfMonthly  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Alison. It can be tricky as many golfers swing differently in a fitting to how they actually swing on the course. The transition shouldn't take too long if you were fitted so stick with it. If your iron play was a weakness before, hopefully it won't be long until you see improvements! Joel
