It was the dream of 2 foreign kids. You're so fucking stupid you cannot even distinguish purpose. LOL, moron. I'm sure it still sounds good, in your head.
These two brothers were such a wonderful, glorious part of my teen years, and I just can’t fathom life without Van Halen. My room was a shrine to all things Van Halen and each album release was met with unimaginable anticipation.
I know most of us are here to hear the VH brothers reminisce about their childhood, but I'd like to take a moment to praise Ms. Arthel Neville's interviewing skills. She really knew how to make Mr. Al & Mr. Eddie feel comfortable, and she let the interview be a conversation b/w the three of them rather than an interrogation (or a snooze fest💤 like I've seen in other VH interviews). It was nice to see the VH bros so relaxed and open. They really seem like such grounded people considering they're global rock stars. Rest In Peace Edward Lodewijk van Halen🖤
Wow Alex leading the conversation, that's a first, never seen that. Awesome to see him so vocal and upfront, never knew he was so intellectually eloquent
I've seen a lot of interviews with Al and where he takes the lead. I think he's one of those who once he gets to talking, he just goes and goes... and always EXPLODES with roars of laughter along the way a number of times.... actually, Al doesn't laugh - he straight up LOSES IT like someone who took LSD... And, of course, he always has some good shit to say. Very detailed with his descriptions of things
Pure humble guys. I can't EVER imagine Eddie playing the drums lol! I play guitar because of Eddie. True Pasedena guys. I cherish all Van Halen music forever. Soundtrack to my teenage years. I hope your jammin with your Dad in heaven. 😇😇😇😇😇😇
Great interview. Alex and Ed were great musicians, brothers, and of course close friends. Thanks for all the great music 🎶 along with Dave, Sammy and Mike !
By all accounts I've heard, Alex is NOT taking it well. No one expected him to, granted, but as a fan, I want to give him all the space he needs to grieve and heal.
They were a bonded pair, musically and emotionally. Through thick and thin, ebbs and flows, highs and lows, they were a team. One could not survive without the other.
6:40 : “seeing four guys on equal ground impressed us.” Likewise seeing Ed, Al, Sammy, Mike in equal ground impressed me. Love that version of the band.
I remember seeing this interview back in the day, I really miss hearing the brothers talk. Especially about they’re younger days growing up on music. Thank u 4 this. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽💯💯💯💯💯
Ed to me was stoned hippie eternal dazed grin on his face. Alex was sarcastic, smart-ass, dominant personality of the two. He takes over the interviews.
There was an interview Mike gave earlier this year that said as much :(( Al doesn't really use social media, but the times he has since Eddie's death has only been on Eddie's birthday, deathday, and then his own birthday and it was just a single sentence to say how much he missed him because it was his first birthday without his brother 😥
@@Starburst514really? These two literally spent basically every minute of their lives together, playing music and doing what they loved. That’s so heartbreaking. I heard Sammy wanted to get them back together for a Eddie tribute but I heard Sammy wrote a book that aired out dirty laundry and Alex could still be hurt that he talked bad about Eddie and also he probably doesn’t want to play music with his brother anyways.
these were the best years of VH when they were all a family and showed in the music. there was no group that enjoyed themselves and each other more on stage.
At 6:12, Arthel asking Eddie and Alex recognizing EVERYONE in the band as being an equal participant of the band will explain to all those why Eddie and Alex pretty much disowned Michael from the band. Yes, Michael seems to be a great and classy guy but he did something without THINKING and as a result, regarded as a traitor to Eddie and Alex - To VAN HALEN. Sammy left the band for whatever BS reason and then Michael went to play with him in ANOTHER band, " when he was on off time from Van Halen. " That was an act of BETRAYAL against the two guys that ALWAYS made a point at recognizing Mike as part of Van Halen. They are the type who are VERY LOYAL to their friends besides each other of course. You betray THAT trust and they'll NEVER forget it.
6:50 The Van Halen boys are talking about all 4 members being equal. That approach didn’t last long. They ganged up on Michael Anthony and made him sign away his rights to the royalties for the songs dated back for the album 1984 and onwards and under paid him from then on. What douchebags!
@@rq5663 Probably because he seems to shy away from confrontation. Also playing with VH was more important than the money as he is apparently very comfortable financially.
All members are equal… (except Mike Anthony, they should have added). They not only had screwed him over several times since 1984, they also asked Billy Sheehan three times at various opportunities to take his place.
In an Alternate Universe, Ed's playing the drums and Alex is the guitarist in Van Halen and none of the songs we know ever happened, they suck over there!😝
The tapping came from Eddie trying to copy Allans tapping but he couldn't pull it off...so we have the single string arpeggios that blew everybody away when Eruption came out. Both of them are legendary innovators that will live on forever
“Really don’t have a clue how to put a song together. Hi Allen!” 🤣🤣🤣 As a guitarist, I can confirm this. 😂 Alex has always had a great sense of humor. 😆

It`s nice to see their brotherly closeness...if I`m in the same room as my elder brother for more than 5 minutes we`re usually on the ground punching seven bells out of each other,I`ve ended up spending the night in police cells over it on more than one occasion.😵💫😵💫😐😐

Those two would get into total closed fist brawls. If someone tried to break them up, they would beat the shit out of him, then go back to brawling with each other.
He was yes 😂 Al is 6'0 (or 6'1 can't remember) and Eddie was about 5'8 or 7. I heard a story that as kids Al would usually win, but Eddie would get some good licks in, but yeah Al was bigger and tougher
The Van Halen brother did slug it out on a regular basis. 100% full-on closed fist punching. They did that MANY TIMES. The funny part is when if a person tried to break it up, the brothers would kick the shit out of that person, then go back to beating on each other. But right after these two beat the living shit out of each other, Ed would light up a cigarette and hand it to Al, then light one up for himself and continue on like nothing ever happened. That's just the way these two were.
