I am glad to hear you are doing okay; the fall sounds scary. I respect your choices and decisions but this bike I am sad to see go. I admire your gutsy attitude and have watched pretty much every video you've put out; I find your spirit and passion for riding to be close to mine. Stay strong, stay healthy and keep riding. It's a joy to watch your videos. This one is sad; but you'll recover.

Sorry to hear about your fall, I hope it doesnt have any long lasting effects on your health. Im in my mid 50s and ride the same bike as you but I had a long break after a bad accident about 12 years ago. At the time I thought thats it, Im never riding again and eventually my wife talked me into getting back into riding as she could see the changes in me after I stopped. Ive been back riding now for about 3 years and my mental health has improved immensley and so too has my relationship with my wife. I initially had the yips when I got back into riding and thought my nerves would get the better of me but after a while my confidence grew and now Im riding the BMW (I started back on a ducati cafe racer, awesome bike). Before my transition to the BMW, I was riding a ducati street fighter V2 and whilst stationary got hit from behind by a vehicle travelling about 50 miles/hr (about 14 months ago). Again I was injured and still have lingering affects but I chose to continue riding. Its a personal choice and many of my freinds and family (not my wife) cannot understand why I choose to continue riding. For me, despite the danger and the knowledge that accidents can happen that are out of my control, Im at my happiest when Im on my bike and Im prepared to take the risk despite my previous accidents. I still get a massive smile everytime I get on the BMW and I even bought a second bike (Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx) to commute to and from work because I would rather ride a bike than drive my car. This is a long post and hopefully some have read all the way to the end but even though you have given riding away, you just never know whats in the future and you may find that you miss it that much that you will get back on the bike or you may not, but either way I hope you are happy and healthy and remain that way in the future.

Sorry about your fall! Glad you’re ok. It sux to get rid of that bike I’m sure. I had my first crash last year and totaled my 22 R1 at about 70 mph and I was pretty badly injured. I said I wasn’t going to ride anymore afterwards but after months of rehabbing and still got a ways to go but I couldn’t stand it and picked up a 23 MT09 SP and I am still not fully recovered. Dear Alex. While I understand your decision I just want to share that this is the choice I had to make last January just 3 months after life altering injuries to my right ribcage with 7 rib and a collarbone fractures. It was not easy to decide and it could have gone either way. It hurts every day not from the fractures but instead the lattisimus dorsi and serratus anterior muscles they had to cut to put 5 rib plates in. My tip: stretch those muscles. In my case I could not give up riding and I got that 2023 S1000R. And now the M1000R is calling my name. I was wondering why you were selling yours. Now I know. Much thoughts and prayers for you in your journey. I think you will ride again. Much love from Oregon to you

Good question. My husband has watched me deal with a good amount of pain for 3 weeks now. He’s just concerned about our future as we age and if I go down while riding. It’s a high risk activity and the M is such a powerful bike, I think it scares him. I love him and respect his thoughts, so I will find a bike that’s a little more mellow. Hope that makes sense and I don’t want to give up riding.

@@AmenCornerRider the risk of riding a bike has nothing to do with the hp that bike has. Yes, I agree if you are not going to ride the canyons / track again the M1KR makes little sense. Any bike you ride on the street will be more risky than riding on the track. Your tumble case demonstrates exactly how fragile and unpredictable our world could be. You have very little control over accidents, sickness, or just bad luck. I respect, your decision while I don't agree with the logic behind it.

I'm 52 and I know the risks but I also drive a scooter to commute and it's riskier to ride a scooter daily to work in all the traffic an hassle so I think you are selling a fantastic bike because you fell a stair...don't rush it I have been there and I go nuts without a motorcycle...been there done that so I ride until I cannot barely stand...that's just me so I respect your decision if you do otherwise. Found this on the internet:
Intersections. One of the most common locations for motorcycle accidents is at an intersection. According to the NHTSA, nearly half of all motorcycle accidents occur at traffic intersections. Intersections require everyone to pay close attention to determine the right-of-way.
Yes, motorcycle riding is a high risk activity. Speeding, intoxication, unsafe lane changes, road conditions, rider error all contribute 😢

You realize that this 210 hp bike , besides being very easy to ride is one of the safest ones you can ride with the advanced Electric Controls & Nannies BMW put on there, especially the way you ride. Watching your videos, you have maybe tapped into 10% of what this bike is capable of. It's ok to want to downsize but don't say it's too powerful or too much, because in Rain, Road or Dynamic mode, it is one of the safest bikes I have ever ridden, and won't get you into trouble but rather protect you from your mistakes. Also the brakes on this bike are so much better than 99% of the bikes out there, making you able to recover from mistakes you may make. There is a reason this bike was as expensive as it is. You are having one of the most advanced bikes on the market and just because it is also the one with the most power does not make it too much. Looking at your reasoning maybe a 3 wheeler would be a better choice rather a 2 wheeled maschine ... GL

Not a stupid question at all . Yep, it's still a motorcycle. I think the trauma and pain from my fall put me into a place where I was questioning myself and wondering if God was trying to send me a message. Going through my head was "if a fall off stairs can cause this much pain, what would happen to me if I crashed my bike". I also didn't want my husband worrying about me. I know I can handle the M no problem, it's an friendly amazing bike to ride. And I know I don't want to give up riding, I love it too much.
