    I have a gadget in my car that has a concealed blade to cut seat belts in the event of an accident and the belts have jammed. It also has a torch, plus I have another separate torch. I never travel without fresh water, and keep sweets handy. Other people say I'm neurotic, but I want to be prepared.

    Great video thank you. I carry two empty bread bags from family sized loaves. Although I have walking shoes and spare socks in the car - should your shoes, socks and feet get soaked you can put your dry socks on and a bread bag over each then put your feet back in your wet shoes. This way your feet stand a chance of staying warm and dry and performing while your shoes dry out hopefully.

    Great video Ana, and as you said, always a work in progress. I adapt mine all the time depending on the time of year. I always carry waterproofs and a warm jacket in mine. Love that crazy torch/self defence weapon 😄Was so lovely to meet you at The Bushcraft Show last weekend. Tom and I thoroughly enjoyed your company. Really looking forward to next year. We'll make it bigger and better for sure. Already speaking with the organisers for a dedicated zone and presentation area 🙂🤟xx

      Thank you very much😊😊 it was so lovely to meet you both too ! yes we are looking forward to next year too very much. I have spoken to Andrew with few suggestions too and one is definitely getting us in the program and maybe main stage with dedicated zone as you say. I think this would make a big difference. 😊🥰

    Thanks for this video, very informative. I made up my get home and bug out bags in 2021 but you`ve made me realise that I need to get them all checked again and organised. Like my preps they have got a bit disorganised over the last few years so I feel a "Spring Clean and reorganisation" is in order.

    Like the suggestions - I'd personally add a cheap watch (strip the straps and just have the face) and also a small space pen/few sheets/small pad of water resistant paper ....

    Another great video with really nice gear. You have given me a few ideas for mine, but I just wanted to share that I also use a head torch to keep my hands free and I do have the same type of material bag, but to keep it waterproof I spray with (Kiwi Camp Dry Heavy Duty Water Repellant). The one can lasts a long time and I also use it on trainers.

    A lightweight sleeping pad such as a Light Tour R5.8 Sleeping pad (430 gms) would make all the difference to surviving an over night situation in all seasons in the UK. I like to combine the Tour Light sleeping pad with a Sea To Summit Spark SP III Sleeping Bag (665 gms) and an Alpkit Kloke Bivi bag (285 gms). Will add around 1.4 kg but will keep me warm overnight down to -5C. For colder 'temperatures I would also pack a cheap Karrimor 750 fill power down hooded jacket. The 'survival' mylar tent will just make folks miserable all night long. Trying Emergency Survival Shelter in Extreme Wet Conditions. A Horrible but Valuable Experience

      How about just storing a yoga mat? It's closed cell foam and won't puncture like an air mattress. It rolls up and comes with a carrying bag or strap usually.

    • @amfearliathmor9747
      @amfearliathmor9747 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kathrynmannyng3885 Closed Cell mats are just to bulky to carry discretely (I have an additional Sovotta FDF Sleeping pad for the BOB with an R rating of 2 and is carried externally outside the pack) and will have less than a 1/3 of the insulatative properties. The Yoga mat will be quite heavy as well, between 1 to 3Kg or 2-6 times heavier than the Light Tour R5.8 and will be much less comfortable to sleep on.

    My house is approx 20Hr walk and I have the map printed out. I wont be carrying anything like swizz army tools I literally will have thick spare socks, a tiny bivvy tent, peanuts, water, battery back up for phone and thats it. I will not be hanging around but will stay over night in a wooded area to rest for an hour or two. Then I will be walking through the night. Chocolate and Whisky does sound good though.

    My husband and I have separate ones as well. Mine has more real food, because I was stuck for 24hours with a relatively a hospital and overnight no food was available. I always have extra shoes and outerwear, plus car stuff in my car, but this is something I take when I go with my sister, or we go far. I have bought (on Amazon) personal "piddle bags" that open enough for women then seal, in case I am stuck in traffic (or somewhere I cannot just 'go'), as happened in highways here.

    Consider adding a cheap bike either folding or regular to the car, an hour away from home really depends on road conditions, and congestion, a bike can cut that travel time at least in half, and can maneuver around traffic blockages. Add rear rack, and panniers to carry needed gear, don’t forget a few one liter water bottles. Consider a electric conversion kit that will cut travel time even more.

    Thank you for all the good ideas as usual. I would add 2 collapsible walking poles, they are very light and small but will help with walking pace and stability through rougher terrain. I've tucked some Underberg bitters in my bags...just in case of indigestion...they come in an individual bottle, one shot. How about bus or taxi fare and some sodium iodide tablets? No reason to include everything, just suggestions. I think your contents are great. I don't have a car so I won't be storing a bag in it. I do have a small waist pack (we call them fanny packs here, I know it's different there) for my bike ready to go. It doubles as my get out in 30 seconds with the cat bag...

    Hi Ana, great vid. I have a similar bag for where I live in NZ. Can I weigh in on the knife as I used to live in the uk… I respect your views, however, picture this, if you get into a situation where you need to open your bag a expose your “knife” in front of a potential attacker, then something has gone seriously wrong. Personally, my plan is to avoid such a situation, action “grey man” principles, and reduce my target size. If all else fails, I can agree- a knife is better than nothing, however, id rather take my chances by running away as fast as I could, than stand my ground for a fight. Respect to you views though… I think it totally depends on your situation… (I’d rather carry a glock before a knife… but that’s another issue all together 👍👍👍

    • @AnasFoodLifestyle
      @AnasFoodLifestyle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I do agree in-terms of a gray man, but I thought knife is a good tool to have in bag not just as self defence. Getting home fast should definitely be a priority 👍

    Ana, a well thought out bag. But I would replace that Mylar tent (as they are rubbish and you need to tie a ridgeline to use it) with a Mylar sleeping bag, much better at retaining the heat. I would move the big knife to inside of the main bag, as then it is no longer considered a safer place if he does get stopped (maybe in an accident, or spot check. I would add a head torch and think about a 2nd cheap prepaid mobile phone - not much point in having the charger in a faraday bag if his mobile is in his pocket when the EMP goes off.
    These are not criticisms, just my views as I think you are doing a great job of educating people ❤

    • @AnasFoodLifestyle
      @AnasFoodLifestyle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thank you 😊 head tourch is in the box in the car. The charger is there generally as a back up, as I mentioned like first aid , anything in that bag can come handy not just in an emergency but any travel . As with knife I might just take it out and keep just a swiss army one . Dont worry, the idea is to share thoughts and learn from each other 😊🙄

    I would not have a fixed blade knife of that length in UK. You would get arrested for that. I’d go for a multi tool . Get home bag for me would be as light as possible, good pair of walking boots, rain/sun protective clothing, gloves, hat etc. water and snack, communication aids ie power bank, cable, first aid bits, torch. I’m a 20 minute drive from work, 30 minutes from relatives homes.

      I’m an older woman, in a fight against a teenage kid I’d loose the knife immediately. I’d rather just stay grey man (woman) and get home as quickly as possible. Thank you for your continued info, I watch every post.

    It's going to weigh quite a bit,, could be streamlined to avoid the temptation of jettisoning half of it. presumably the water bottle will be filled up, hopefully there are paper maps in the car anyway. Do you have weather proof footwear in the boot, probably the most practical item to have aside from water.. (treckers always walk with spare socks, as sweaty feet cause problems (does the med kit have blister shields?) ((perhaps change items around for the season, include wooly/sun hat, brolly/suncream)
    (Was there a foil blanket in there too, probably more useful than knuckle dusters)
    Don't pack it full up, he'll want room to bring wallet/phone etc .

      The bag is half full . Spare clothing is in the car and so is water. Med kit is full and diverse. Maps are not needed in that bag as walk is straight forward but we have maps in BOB. Foil blanket is in a med kit and extras in the car 😊

    During SHTF get home event avoiding the Police would be pretty easy so if carrying a fixed blade it shouldn't represent much of a problem especially if concealed properly. Its not like its going to be a selection course whilst being hunted down by a hunter force of British Army Paratroopers. My GHB knife is a Victorinox Ranger Wood 55. I also have a Hawke Endurance ED 8x25 Monocular to see ahead for obstructions i.e. Police Check Points etc. (used in combination with an Acebeam Terminator M1 to see ahead up to a mile in total darkness, but is a little heavy to carry for a GHB)
