"Redesigning" The Spider-Man Advanced Suit

- Okay, the Advanced Suit isn't actually garbage, it's actually one of the best Spidey suits ever made, but it doesn't mean it's perfect and there are a couple issues with the suit that I go over and attempt to fix 👍
Yeah I also didn't put too much effort into actually making the art itself look the greatest, I just traced an outline and decided to make a few changes to the suit that I thought would look good. I mainly wanted to focus on and make changes to the suit design. Anyways, this was just for fun and so on. I made another new design in my community posts after hearing some of the critiques :)

Okay, after reading through some of the comments, I've re-watched my video a couple more times and perhaps I could have maybe made the video a bit more engaging or shorter. It didn't have to be 8 minutes long but I wanted to make it that long anyway, as I have stated in the video myself. I acknowledge that and I appreciate your guys' criticisms and I'll be sure improve on that.

I've decided to go back and change a few things so if you're interested, go check out my community posts, I decided to redesign the suit again :)
First time I've seen a TH-camr directly and honestly respond in this manner. Kudos to you. The thing is, these days I'm getting real annoyed seeing these TH-camrs clickbait viewers with title and thumbnail, unnecessarily prolong video when their content doesn't justify it, and all that just to make be more "successful" at being a TH-camr. I don't think it's a good idea to go down that route. They gotta realise that at the end of the day, they're making a video for PEOPLE i.e. actual human beings to watch and enjoy. All those numbers beside "Views" actually mean a person, they're not just statistics. Anyway, you're pretty chill for being honest. :)
@NerdistRay yeah I get that. Me personally, I don't come across clickbait that often so I can't say much about that but it does happen, that's a fact. I have an old channel that was pretty big and there are a few videos that are a bit clickbaity but they did get some attention. That was at the time my channel was a lot smaller so I kind of had the same mindset for this new channel I wanna pursue. I plan on changing the thumbnail a bit later to match with the title. But you're right and while I do believe in making eye-catching thumbnails and titles, making it super clickbaity isn't a good idea.
The white/black lines are either it’s actually a reflective metallic material, if you re watch the reveal trailer for spider man 2. You can see the lines changes color due to lighting
I definitely like the 2.0 way better. I’ve actually been using it a lot more unlike the 1.0 in the first game. Just something about the darker red and the upgrades make it better for me
Yeah I get that. I think its because the color is actually cherry red rather than an orange color.
Ya I loved the upgraded one just the hands was my only problem but I kept it on the entire game only and the symbiote versions
I like your design but you talk about unnecessary lines like it’s an issue and then fill your suit with tons of unnecessary white lines
The lines on the blue portions are the ones I said were "unnecessary" so comparing them and the white lines I added along the red parts are...I mean, I don't understand the comparison, I don't get it. Plus, I never said I had an issue with the lines anyways, it's something I pointed out because other people have pointed it out as well and had issues with.

Nah the white lines that divide the red and blue is a new but welcome change. The excessive black lines within the blue are what he originally said (other people say) was “bad”.

My only critiques are to remove the side leg red portions if you are adding boots. And lastly, to use the emblem style from the 2.0 suit as opposed to the 1.0. The spider should be confined to the inside of the red portion on the chest, I believe personally.
I was thinking that. Comparing the 2.0 and 1.0 suit, I wished I actually kept the spider symbol inside of the red portion. Thanks for your critique :)

I like how the advanced suit 2.0 separates itself from the other suits, instead of using the normal Spidey waist line, it decided to separate them and add blankness which really complimented the suit quite well.
I love your Advanced Suit redesign, the only change I'd make is keep the front logo contained within the red like the 2.0 version
I feel that your design would look better without the red leg things because you gave him red boots, I think it's too much red below the belt line but this is a really good design. Love how you put both black and white outlines

I like your design a lot more because it makes the white stand out without being overbearing. The addition of more traditional red boots fit perfectly with costume and it blows my mind that they didn’t do that in the first place. Great work!
I loved the original advanced suit, I don't even notice or care about the colors being off. I actually found myself using that suit over the advanced suit 2.0. But I ended up using the Superior suit the most.

I'm still surprised Insomniac managed to design a modernized version of the classic suit and doing an almost complete overhaul and SOMEHOW not look like hot garbage and getting hated.
It seemed like an unbreakable barrier, but they managed to do it.
The new 2.0 adcanced suit is one of my favorite Spider-Man suits of all time. Not just because if the red being brider but becuase these unnecessary lines are gone and the lenses look a bit different. I cannot tell what but If you look and compare both lenses you notice a change and I love it. I also loved that they connecred the red line on his arm instead of having that random gap and the white Spider symbol is now placed more linear and cleaner. Corners and edges of the white spider are in more line which is extremely satisfying once you notice it ESPECIALLY on the back. I also never had a problem with the feet having to little or the white parts on the knuckles being too blocky I actually prefer it that way. I like other things to but this comment is getting way too long so...........

I definitely see myself using this suit for the entire gameplay. The original just had me switching between the TASM 2, Rami suit, The Hybrid suit (I dont care what people say, that suit in No Way Home looks badass) and of course, the New Red and Blue suit.
The new advanced suit in the game is goated for me. I loved it. I didn’t equip any other suit close to half the time I had it on. I think it’s perfection and it doesn’t need redesigning but that’s just me.
finally, someone appreciating the 1.0 advanced suit, addressing the downgrades made in the 2.0 advanced suit, and trying to work on the best of both worlds by creating your own advanced suit. (I myself am making one too)
Other than that, I appreciate the effort to fix the advanced suit but it kinda turns into something that reminds me more of Spider-UK due to the colors and the balancing of the reds and blues. So let me list my critiques/problems in your redesign suit and I hope there's no hard feelings from you as my critiques are all in good faith.
First of all, There's a big reason why they switched from boots to sneakers. While it's technically more of an aesthetic design choice, it really comes down to how practical and functional the suit is. As they explained in the making of the 1.0 advanced suit, they explained that a modern, 20 yr old, regular joe schmo wouldn't first think of using boots for parkour or agility and mobility based combat, rather they would pick sneakers as it is not only widely used by the public, but it is heavily used in sports activities or even in parkour.
Secondly, when it comes to the red thigh areas. I think it was obviously added there to balance out the reds in the leggings where there was nothing but blue (and also adding protection to the legs). Adding boots to the suit would be making the same problem again except this time, it's the reds being the dominant color. If you're going to add the long boots, I suggest you remove the thigh pieces aswell so the legs arent crowded with red. Honestly, the 1.0 managed to perfectly balance both the reds and blues in the suit while also adding in white elements to the suit.
Thirdly, the white elements should stay in the carbon-fiber areas of his suit (chest spider, back spider, arm gauntlets, and shoes). The white lines don't really contrast well with the bright red and blue. Black works much better. But even then, u forgor to mention the Maroonish Brown lining that seperates the red and blue in the 1.0 suit.
Fourthly, this isn't actually a critique, I just wanna say that as much as the advanced looks like the classic suit, I think it's important for it to stand out alot while trying to make it recognisable as the classic suit itself. A suit made by and made for Insomniac themselves. So while the
Lastly, this is just my personal take but I agree with the old arm gauntlets being better it looks it's made of bone, plus the fact that the white Spider logo sticks out the red giving it a ribcage giving it a skeleton look. The new redesign looks sleek but I honestly prefer the old one.
Honestly, the only thing I really like about the new advanced suit is the color red, the belt design, and the sneakers. Other than that the first advanced suit will always have a special place in my heart.

I actually like the white parts on the wrist for the 2.0 suit. The white material is supposed to be armored plating, so it actually makes sense for protecting his arms in terms of striking and blocking attacks.
One thing i didnt like was how the white spider streamlined to stay in the red section. I preferred it in the original suit cause it branched out into the blue sections. It made the blue sections feel uniform and blended in to the rest of the suit but also the newer one made his torso look really weird proportion wise

I actually like your design, it's cool, and it's exactly what i wanted the suit to be, just like you i didn't like what they did with the white aspects of his hands in 2.0. The color in 2.0 is better than 1.0 but personally i think that it's too colorful, i mean it's too red and blue, 1.0 wasn't so colorful but it looked more mature, for me at least, your version is very cool don't know about the boots but why not, i finished the game but I'd definitely play with your version of the suit once more.

Honestly, I love the redesign you made. I'd say take the logo and the lenses from the 2.0 suit, and maybe a lighter shade of blue, and you've got yourself a perfect spidey suit.
Also maybe use the boot design from the final swing suit from no way home and integrate the white soul design from the 2.0 suit into that
I’d say that I like it more then both of the official designs (though, the blue is a bit to bright imo)
I love the bright colors with your design! My only problem is the red around the waist not attaching to the red on the torso. Other than that it looks awesome!❤❤
All id do to change your suit is reduce the thickness of white parts on the forearms to balance the white parts a little, overall great redesign
The only issue i have with the advanced suit in both iterations is that its very top heavy, if they had something more going on with thing’s below the knees then it’d be perfect. I’d guess putting on kneepads or shin guards made of that same hard white material the spiders are made of
Clean redesign , for me I think it would look mint without the red on the hips/thigh part. The 2.0 with the red feet would be fire
I like everything about your new suit design, I do prefer the blue color on the Advanced Suit 2.0 however. I like that you included a lot more white outlines, brought back the red sections on the legs, and gave him boots. I actually don't mind the blockiness of the white on his fists, but if you were to give him boots I think the feet should have a similar blocky white look. It just needs synergy :0

I like the original insomniac suit much better than the new one. The new one is so dull in comparison in my opinion. I like the prominent black webbing a lot. Felt like there was a perfect balance between the black and white on the suit. My only gripe with that suit was the red being more red than orange, and like you mentioned the lack of red in the boot area. Your suit design is much better than the recent iteration. I like some of your ideas.

Pretty good really like it. I would love to see a back view but I have some nitpicks. If u extend the red on his chest to be closer to the belt prices that would be cool and I feel like the white outline on the red parts makes the black lenses look out of place. Still pretty good
My critique with the advanced 2.0 are the belt line on the waist is to high, they bring that back from the comics suit and I think is weird, the belt line on the first advanced was more "modern" for me, and about your design, I love it! I would only change the boots, I like it the way it is on the original, its like an updated version of the classic, looks like spidey is wearing some sneakers haha
I really liked the line seams from the 1.0 suit.
Joining up the lines on his legs and on his waist would make it look much better me personally the spider logo sticking out looks weird they decided to go with a clean and neat look with 2.0 while 1.0 has a more rough and tough look if you know what i mean
The only thing i don’t like about the advanced 2.0 suit is how barren the legs are. Like Peter’s entire upper body is so expertly balanced between red and blue with dashes of white to add flair to it, but then the legs are just bare blue with tiny bits of red for the soles.
My only issue with the suits are like you said the lack of color on the legs it’s like insomniac got lazy and didn’t know what to do with the legs
the trimming is actually reflective, it's not black or white, it depends on the lighting
Something i would like insomniac to do for adding more red to the feet is keeping the sneaker look
I love both versions of the advanced suit, they're tied for my favorite suit of all time.
Love your take bro. The boots are such a needed and nice touch. Only thing I would change is the white lining. I prefer the black, but your looks great. I hope that the third game will have a 3.0 suit and it will combine both suits and add boots like your take. Great job bro 🤙

For the most part, I do like this redesign. I really do. But there's just a couple issues I have. As one of the commenters already stated, there's way too much red below the belt. The red areas on the side of his legs just doesn't mesh that well with the red boots. Secondly, and this may just come down to personal preference, but I don't really like how the white spider branches out into the blue sections. I used to love that about the 1.0 suit but after I saw the 2.0's choice to keep it within the red, it just looks a lot cleaner to me. It feels a lot more organized compared to the 1.0, which looking back, made it feel like the spider legs had nowhere to go.
Nevertheless, this is a damn good redesign. Good work, man.

Hot take but i actually like the lack of boots on the advanced suits. Whenever i imagine boots on the advanced suit it just looks weird and out of place to me.

It’s not a bad design by any means. If I were to change a few things, it would be to use the torso and iconography from the 2.0 suit since they fit better within the red portions, and if you want the boots, I’d get rid of the red paneling along the sides because it makes the legs look too busy and it would maintain the classic legs which to me have the perfect balance. Other than that, great design.

The extra red that they removed from the 2.0 suit could've been better if they added boots to the suit. Your design looks fantastic with the original white gloves and how every part of it look seamless but personally the disconnection of the belt from the 2.0 and the extra red on the legs is unnecessary. It made the suit looks too busy and its better off not having too much white lines. The color choice for the blue is interesting but the 2.0 suit colors looks better. Great work on the redesign man!
Hey! Contrary to what others think. I like that you kept the red thigh panels in addition to the boots (more red on spidey is a personal win for me) only thing I’d change is the white lining or piping or whatever it’s called to black as it evens out the black to white ratio on the suit more. Having it like it is makes the eyes seem a bit chunky and invasive but overall it’s not that crazy of a difference if they are left white. Good redesign tho👍🏻

I liked how in advanced 2.0 the spider logo stayed inside the red instead of intersecting the blue so if you just made yours have that I think that’s rlly good

For the 2.0 suit, the white spider sits completely on the red chest part, whereas the original has one of the legs bleeds into the blue which i personally feel breaks the flow of the design, thats something I prefer on the 2.0 suit.
I keep using the new suit it pops, looks nicer, and feels to have on, haven’t used another suit more yet
I like both suits honestly they do two different things perfectly. If you want to make an amazing suit from the both then you have to find a balance. In my opinion I would use the overall 2.0 colors but I’d give the 1.0 the detail and aspects from the 2.0. But realize tho if you use the original with the 2.0 aspects leave the boots off of you’re adding red to the side of the legs. If you’re adding boots then remove the red from the sides. Otherwise it’s alright do your thing and be happy with your own creation.
Unpopular opinion: I like how plain the legs are. I was never really a fan of the red boots.
I agree with you on the arms, they definitely look better on 1.0 and I love how on both suits, you can see how the different fabrics are stitched together.
My favorite 2.0 detail is how the spider on the chest is flush with the edges of the red section.
The 2.0 suit with the 1.0 arms would be perfect in my opinion.

Yeah. I like the 2.0 gauntlets more. Also, the portions of red on the legs don't really mesh well with the rest of the suit. Especially since you've elongated the red on the shoes. Honestly, instead of the red being cowboy boot length, I prefer how it's done in the insomniac games. But, if you wanted to add more red, make it sneaker length at least. The black lines are a bit too accentuated. Which is why I liked the 2.0. And the white spider, I think it should be inside the red. Blue should be darker. Although I can understand if you couldn't get the exact coloring down.
Honestly I like the Advanced suit 2.0 especially with the not so noticeable lines on the suit more then the 1.0 suit but that’s just me

Your design is nearly perfect but I have two critiques.
1. I think the bottom spider-legs on the front logo should stay inside the red section. It makes the design a lot more coherent and simple.
2. I think that the white outlines on the suit separating the red and blue should be black instead of white. In this design it seems like the black that’s incorporated in the lenses of the mask is a complete afterthought and the white seems a little bit excessive in the design.
Tbh I think ur getting more hate for this design than it deserves and if you made these changes you’d get my approval.👍
The 1.0 had less saturation but the colors were divided so much more evenly. The 2.0 has way too much blue and has the colors unevenly divided which triggers my OCD lol. They really shoulda just gave the 1.0 the same color saturation as the 2.0 has and that would look perfect imo. I think your design fixes a lot of issues. I also love the deeper blue you have which makes it pop more
I definitely like this design much better, though it does have too much white in my opinion. Granted I’ve never been a fan of the advanced suits to begin with
5:13 correction about this: the piping wasn't changed to white. Its a black/dark grey color but it has a reflective finish. So in ery specific angles it can look white like in the picture.

I actually prefer the OG Advanced suit over the new one. If it had the design of the first suit with the red and blue of the second one it's be perfect.
Dude i liked your design it is good,the boots are perfect but the white spider man symbol is the worst part i love that in the 2.0 version the white logo is exclusive in the red part.

Isomniac's take on advanced suit 2.0 seems a bit too simplistic for my liking. It's by no means bad neither is yours but I actually prefer the dark tones on the standard advanced suit. It gives him a vibe of already experienced spidey which makes sense since he's been swinging around the city for 8 years before the 1st game happend.
As for Yours I like the distinct outlines in between each color change probably done by more white lines across the whole suit.
Still a very good job and if your project was the one that Isomniac made back in 2018 I wouldn't complain.
I'll give it to Insomniac, their original designs are horrible. They did some really good suits on the Miles game but on the second one almost every suit and variation are horrible, even the movie suits the neck part sticks up way too high and makes Peter looks like he has a tiny head.
The shoes definitely need some changes, i don't like the large amount of empty blue at the center of the foots, it's weird and kinda ugly considering that Spider-Man has always worn long red boots. Hope Insomniac changes the design of these boots in the third game.
I honestly just see it as different styles for the suit its like upgrading the upgraded suit and it looks super cool either way people are honestly just too picky

The advanced 2.0 suit would literally be perfect if the boots were red
Interestingly enough replacing the blue with black on the Advanced Suit is literally a day and night difference, makes it go from a 7.5./10 to a 9.5/10, the way the colours blend and complement each other gives the suit bonus points. I like the suit, but it comes across as being very vanilla and it's overrated compared to the some of the suits you get later on in the games and it was the same situation in both SM PS4 and SM2 PS5. Ultimately there isn't much going on- especially in the leg parts.
Your design's very good, it'd be a 9 based on design alone I really like how you've added more white in the suit and fixed the leg parts giving it a more fuller appearance/design. Though personally I'd go for a navy/black for the blue areas and that'd easily be a 10.

I actually played most of ps4 spiderman with the advanced suit and the only thing that bugged me was the shade of red.

I honestly prefer the 2.0 in pretty much every way, to my eye it’s cleaner and more simplistic without any of the pointless added or removed sections, it’s modern without being slightly over designed (which the 1.0 is in my opinion) I’ve always been of the opinion that if a suit has too much going on it’s ruined and the new one just tips it over the edge for me into being just right. Plus this may be just me but I always thought the red on the legs looked so stupid in the 2018 game and although I do agree the feet may need some more red I’m just glad those dumb thigh portions are gone.
Yeah if they disconnected the white from the knuckles and put it on the actual fingers there would be a disconnection between the white part and the white part of the fingers. And the black lining and the white lining is wrong it is sliver. Changes with light
I'm not a fan of the white outline around the red, and the fact that the middle doesn't reach to the belt bothers me. You fixed every other problem imo
I also think that the feet would look cooler if you went for a design where it goes higher on the outside of his calves, then goes down to his ankles on the inside. I don't know if I explained that well enough for you to visualize, but you were close to what I'm saying, I just think the inside should be lower to make it still look like the original with the more blue.
Respectfully, i dislike the advanced suit 1.0 a lot, something seems very off in it for me, i think it appears a tad bit too overdesigned and detailed, as you mentioned, the orange tone does not help it's case, something about the webs turns me off too, they may be too thick i think, in general i find the 2.0 design way cleaner and more pleasant to the eye! Your design also solved something that turned me off a ton, which is the blue feet lol, i think the red boot like shape coloring does wonders to the design! Great video, and i actually don't mind how long the video is, for me it could be even longer, i love to discuss design stuff and all, so watching this kind of things is allways a pleasure
The trim on the 2.0 suit isn’t white or black it’s silver and depending on the lighting is what makes it look black or white
I personally feel like, you’re design is a good mix of the two. But I feel like it’s either the boots or the side of the leg parts. Not both

The Hips armor like design I actually loved it and was kinda sad they removed it, however the new belt like design that is separated by the Chest piece design from 2.0 looked awesome, i still dont know why they removed the design for the hips it would’ve still fit perfectly if they still added it in.
As for the feet, i think the improvements they could do is maybe extend the the red design to the Knees and for the backside of that is just blue, making it seem like Armor infront which are the Red fabrics since the Blue fabrics are suppose to be more flexible but less Resistant to idk hits? ( to clarify its like a Knee pad that extends from the feet to the knees with its backside expose ) idk if it would look cool, im just imagining it out of my head just to fix the issue of too much “Blue” in the pants.
I was never really a fan of the white. But that with black accents and emblem instead of white or even chrome and getting rid of the red patches on the lower hip section would be fire
Only problem is the bottom half. Needs boots to breaks up all that blue. Have some Red. It just blue and shoes no Spider-Man boots
I don't have any issues with it (the og suit), its a different Spiderman, so different design. If they can have certain liberties with the story line, then so can they with the suit, even the colours.
