  • Mg Motors is a 100-year-old brand that originated in Britain, but after the Chinese acquisition of this British brand things have changed drastically.
MG claims to be a British brand, but when we dug a bit we realized that none of the cars they sell in India are designed and engineered in the UK,
Rather they are all designed in China under SAIC Motors.
But does this fact make them a Chinese brand?
let's find out in the video!

Does it even matter where it belongs? like Hector is a much better car than Harrier and the same with other MG cars.
MG cars are safer than Scorpio N which scored 0 stars in ANCAP. and this brand is regulated under Indian government norms.
Why can't Mahindra and TATA fail to provide such cars even though they are Indian brands that should offer cheaper rates?

Ownership of Volvo and JLR is quite different. The new parent companies I.e Tata and geely have given their companies money, and have had them function on their own completely without interfering. What MG basically is, is a Chinese company owning the rights to the name MG and pasting it on their own cars. Personally not a fan of this deceiving marketing becoz most ppl do believe that it is a foreign product, but as a business it seems to be working.

I've worked with MG and Mr Rajeev chaba, this is a pure Chinese company and there's absolutely no relationship with Britain whatsoever. They started selling when make in India movement was on peak and India was highly boycotting Chinese products, that's why they portray MG as British company. The truth is that when MG was about to launch in India, they did not have a single model of MG on British roads and all the vehicles they brought in India for showcasing the global lineup were from China. Let me break this down: Every MG (or any Chinese product for that matter) that you buy as an Indian, some money from that investment goes to SAIC as profits. SAIC then pays taxes to Chinese government. Chinese government then invest some of that money into Chinese military hardware including fighter jets, tanks, border roads, military airports in Tibet. In short we fund our enemies.

When choosing a car, you should consider not only the price and performance, but also the safety and durability of the vehicle. Some brands, such as Suzuki-Toyota (yes Toyota too in the mid segment) and Hyundai-Kia, have been reported to have poor build quality and high rates of fatal accidents in India. You should avoid these brands if possible, and look for cars that have passed rigorous safety tests and have stable body shells. The Hyundai Verna, along with 5-🌟 safety rating, also got the body shell rated as unstable which could compromise its crashworthiness. You should also check the reliability and service quality of the car dealers, as they can affect your satisfaction and maintenance costs in the long run.

Honestly, ever since TATA bought JLR, I never looked at JLR as a British brand. For me, it was indian and every time I see some Hollywood celebrity or pop star in their Range Rover Vogue or Autobiography, My mind instantly imagines them sitting in a Safari or harrier.
This might ruffle some feathers but JLR vehicles were extremely unreliable up until 2008 because of bad management and quality by Ford motors. It was a dying brand which was sold for a low price due to its unreliable vehicle and bad image. It was TATA that pumped money into this dying brand and gave them the creative freedom to develop cars on their own terms instead of micro-managing and cutting corners like ford. And from 2008 to 2023, whatever the brand value JLR has regained or developed is because of TATA and its dedication to turn it into a profitable brand again. And in order to stay true to the roots, they decided to keep JLR and TATA motors separate. Lately we are seeing some JLR inspired designs in TATA cars, but it never hindered the JLRs market and Target audience. Their customers don't feel like they are sitting in a rebadged and decorated harrier. They retained their exclusivity.
I'm personally more of a Mahindra guy. I hate the TATA cars designs (except for safari decor, Sierra & Estate) . Their designs are sloppy, Be it Nexon, Tigor, Safari, Harrier, Altroz, Indica, Sumo, Sumo Grande, Yodha, Xenon, Safari Storm, Indigo, Indigo marina or punch. But I respect Mr. Tata for his modesty, truthfulness and his dedication. He is commited to giving Indians the best and the safe vehicles. And that is some real dedication and Patriotism.

@@JUST_CHILL_IN How ironic that you are calling me a kid while not even reading the whole thing, ignoring the point and the reasoning.
To answer your question, Yes. If tata or Mahindra is bought by some Big group like VW group or GM, PSA, FCA, then yes, it will be considered a german or french or American product despite of being originated in india. Especially if the brand was on verge of collapse and is revived and redeveloped by that outsider company. Apart from that, technical details like amount/ percentage of shares the parent company or the “owner” company owns, also decides whether the said brand should be considered as original countries brand or the country where the parent company is based in.
Why do you think Norton motorcycles are considered Indian, despite being a british brand ? Cause TVS bought the dying brand and revived it.
Why do you think JAWA, BSA is considered indian despite of originating from England. Cause Mahindra bought them, re-launched them and brought them back in the market.
Fiat, a pure italian brand is still considered an American entity cause FCA, an American group bought it.
Holden cars are considered American despite of being a Australian brand, Cause it’s bought, revived and kept alive by GM.

MG cars are solidly built are very safe and incredibly comfortable.
Hardly matters if they are Chinese or not.
Oh and by the way, this is an incredibly well researched video on MG and its latest SAIC iteration. Brilliant job with the research. 👍🏼👍🏼

True it hardly matters & it isn't other people's business where someone spends their hard earned money or to purchase a product from a country which constantly exhibit preovocation & hostility towards it's neighbouring countries, but then again it isn't you or your family members who are defending the countries sovereignty from their aggression in the freezing temps so yeah keep bragging about the comfort it offers.🥂cheers mate.
