Like the trains here in the US are powered by
Someone who spends 80k on a car like this obviously doesn't care about fuel prices, but since gasoline is more expensive than diesel, diesel hybrids should be the standard option on econoboxes.
Yes, it's a weird combo, but for me it's the best of both worlds, on trips up to 62 Miles you drive it as an EV and on the long distance stuff you use the diesel, like a diesel is supposed to be used. And you get 47 mpg out of it. Too bad they don't sell this motorisation in the US, you only get a Mild hybrid 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 hp (23 hp added electric boost).
