What I'll never understand is .. it's Jimi Hendrix, 1969 New Year's Eve at Fillmore East, two nights w/4 shows. Saying goodbye to the 60's decade ... and nobody thought to professionally film this concert??? W.T.F.!!!! Glad it was recorded, some of Hendrix's best playing.
What a great song! Hendrix just had something extra special in his touch and feel, not to mention his ingenuity. His recording of this song highlights all of that. When I hear young guys say, “Hendrix wasn’t that good”, I can only imagine they are looking for mere technical difficulty, but their ears must not tuned enough to hear the subtle difference in his feel and sound. I feel sorry for anyone who can’t hear it.
I was trying to pick this up by ear and went nuts in some licks, this helped a lot, thanks! All the little tweaks Hendrix used in just basic pentatonics is crazy. Greetings from Argentina.

Im so surprised I don't often see this song suggested to players looking to first break into the Hendrix style and/or beginners looking to get into the intermediate level. A ton of awesome fundamentals in here, a lot of standard pentatonic stuff, and it's so fun to play. Thanks Marty!

This is the song that made me want to learn guitar back in the early 70s… Particularly the three notes at about 3:10 into the song. Steal to this day this is my favorite Hendrick song as well and in particular the dose in that section that begins at 3:10 . Thanks for the lesson on this song… You did a fantastic job! Thanks for another great lesson! And I like that you don't play your 6th string root bar chords with the thumb over technique. I just cant get all of the strings to ring out that way and it makes me feel less cool than I already am.
