With compelling performances and a heartfelt narrative, NOW YOU KNOW is a beautiful exploration of the transformative power of love. Director, Paul Preston, masterfully crafts a poignant tale of trust, underscoring the significance of understanding and accepting one's true self. Through the lens of his iPad, Oliver captures behind-the-scenes footage for his father’s latest music video, inadvertently piecing together the reasons behind his parents' split. The film's sensitive portrayal of Oliver's journey towards empathy and his father's quiet resilience is both heart-wrenching and uplifting, Preston inviting his audience to reflect on the real meaning of love and acceptance, delivering a powerful message about the courage it takes to embrace our true identities. *What did you think?*
🙏♥ It's great! It shows that children are wiser, kinder, and more loving than adults who have internalized homophobia from society. I don't blame the adults--we are surrounded with homophobia despite more openness to sexual difference these days. Sweet film! Thank you!!
What a heartwarming video! The boy’s reaction is how everyone should react when someone comes out to them. Kids can be taught to hate gays, it’s not a natural response. The song from South Pacific says it all and it was written years ago. “You’ve got to be taught to hate and fear you’ve you’ve got to be carefully taught.” I taught elementary school for 50 years and had kids who had two moms, each had the same sperm donor so the kids would be related. Those kids were not shy about speaking up when other kids made crude remarks about gays. They made a difference at their grade level, good kids! Children are so inherently kind if allowed to be!
Wow, this is what the world needs to understand. Doesn't matter whether you're gay or straight, but have to live a family life with honesty and pure love. That's okay to be gay. This is the coolest gay short film that I've ever watched...This is awesome and did a great job.😍😍😍😍
My son Jonathan years ago as we entered his first grade classroom for parent-teacher night with him riding on my shoulders: "Look Mrs. Flores, I have TWO Dads!"
And my parents (born 1914 and 1916) told me: "and stick to the truth and live YOUR life, don't hide". I am now 70 and have been with my husband for 49 years. 49 good years
Weird that most parents don't understand just how perceptive children are. And if your child is old enough to ask, you should be mature enough to answer in age-appropriate language. If the tables were turned and the parent questioned the child about his sexuality, he'd expect his child to be honest with him, but he thinks it's OK for him to evade the question on the grounds of the child's age. The dad is being openly affectionate with another man in front of his son but expects his son not to notice and question it. It makes no sense. What the dad fails to understand is by behaving this way, he's conditioning his son to view homosexuality as something to be hidden and ashamed of.
There is no age appropriate way to answer a yes or no question. If someone asks you if you are gay; that’s a yes or no question. Your responses can be yes, no or none of your business.
@@DC-pp8xf Sure, you can answer as you mentioned, but in this case the father could also make it a teachable moment, explaining how although he may be gay and likes Luke? it doesn't change his love for his son. So yes, there is an age appropriate way to answer a yes or no question. The father isn't being cross-examined in court..
A verdade".
My late spouses son was about the same age as Oliver when we told him that we were a couple and he said he figured it out when he was about 4 and said it didn’t matter who we were but he had 2 dads that loved him and each other
Great movie. When it comes to being gay, it’s challenging to speak the truth with kids, but it’s important. One who I told said gross 🤢 and I thought that meant he would never speak to me again. But I was wrong. Nothing changed. I spoke my truth and he spoke his. Couldn’t ask for anything better.
Oh, I H A T E Rubbish storylines like this, especially with KIDS caught up in the middle... I mean, I hate rubbish that reminds me we still need videos with this content, and the heartfelt reminder that there is still homophobia in our society, and it impacts our young. Bravo on your content here, I'm just sad we need it. #LoveIsLove Kids are often more mature than we give them credit for. I could feel the pain of his Dad when confronted; good job keeping it real!
ugh I dont want anyone like him to know im gay ever loll no one should know why do so many striaght pplle need to do this make it okay for gay pplle to come out. COMING OUT ISNT FOR THE STRAIGHT PEROSN SMH PLEASE LEAVE MY COMMUNITY ALONE.

Sometimes kids are way smarter than their parents.

Spot on
This reminds me of when my son asked me if I am-I didn’t know what or how to tell him but yea. He’s my best friend ❤

Right, except for the 23 countries where you can be imprisoned or executed.

Definitely
Really well done. Wanted it to be longer.
Advice to adults: if a kid refuses to shake your hand, don't rub his head. Kids have a right to decide if they want to be touched, and by whom.
Beautiful! Terrific film.
Glad you enjoyed it!
A great short film! Very well done!
I love it! 🏳️🌈
A simple film with a profound message.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Children always surprise you
We have a choice, be honest and treat kids with respect. Otherwise it’s disrespect and dishonesty. What they remember is our choice.
Great!😀
It’s beautiful
Bom filme.👍🏼👏🏼

Lovely film
Is that Nate from Emmerdale?!
Yes
Truth!
As good as it is, why wouldn’t he let the son in on the video?
Did he not want his son’s friends to see it?
❤❤❤
👌👌👌
Kid doesn't apparently need a seatbelt
Not another gay movie played by straight actors without even a proper kiss. LOL.
✌🏻❤👍🏻
…incredible kids…
Incredible performances
nope nt subtle enuff to portray the emotion.
Jurell Carter is fine af.
That dad has growing up to do.

Glad you enjoyed it! We’ve got another film by the director, Paul, landing on Monday!
✌🏾
Why would the boy be worried about his dad being gay? He's probably much more concerned about telling him how bad his music is.
the only problem here is that hairline and the "music"
VERY difficult to understand. Muffled voices, extreme accents.
@thomaslucia3059, there's no such thing as an extreme accent. Do you really think your accent is the standard and all others are a variation of yours?

what nonsense... they also want to accept children into their sect
"Their sect"?? Oh you mean hip hop? Rap?
