I’ll be getting this, once they go into the inevitable Amazon sale.
Chris, just wanted to say that I am always so impressed with your videos. You have helped me so much with making decisions for tech in my house and I just want to thank you for being a true pro. Keep cranking out good content, we are all thankful for you I can promise you that!
Love your videos Chris, keep up the good work!
My first purchase attempt for a Wifi 7 mesh system was a TP-Link BE85 x 3 node system. Coming from an Eero Pro 6E system (4 node), my network reliability / stability and speeds shocking dropped quite a bit, disappointingly. I returned it and bought this system (Max 7 x 3 node), and reliability / stability were back where I expected them and speeds were improved over the Pro 6E system. While admittedly, it is very expensive, from my experience, it was better than the Pro 6E and far better than the BE85 system.
I have had the eero Pro 6e as a replacement for Google mesh for a few years and I notice that it drops my Google nests and pucks (my house has 2 echo shows an old echo puck and an Astro as well as 3 google nests and 5 google pucks) randomly but only these google products. Did you ever experience this eero competition bias?
Great Review as always @ChrisMajestic ! Can you please do a wifi 7 router comparison test between TP Link BE33000, Eero Max 7 and Orbi 970?
My max 7 comes tomorrow and I can't wait. I'm in it for the 2.5 and 10gig wired connection. The wifi is an extra.
There are lots of options if you just want fast wired connections.
@@ChrisMajestic true but I already hade the eero setup. And as you said that simplicity is hard to walk away from.
Brotha Majestic, Great video on eero Max 7! I'm very much looking forward to your review of the ORBI WiFi 7! God Bless.
It’s on my list. Thanks
Thanks for all the great work. Wanted to upgrade to a wifi mesh system. As of now I'm undecided, I'm torn between ORBI 970 and the TP link BE95. Which mesh system do you feel is the better out of the two?
What’s up Chris. Thanks for the info as usual. I’m looking to upgrade my router from a Nighthawk Rax120. What would be the best overall router today for gaming, streaming etc?
Just did my whole house with 10GB Ethernet and put a rack in my closet. Don't have anything 10GB yet, but this is on my radar. Still rocking the Gen 1 eero mesh units haha. Wished I could connect it to a VPN and assign certain devices (for location spoofing on Apple TV's and such) with this. Do any other's do that? Totally agree for this price point, advanced features should be built in. Good review as always Chris!
Love it Brother. I have Eero wifi 6. Alexa powered. Your audio is next level except the kitchen
It killed me to upload it with crap audio. lol. Sorry
@@ChrisMajestic its all good, I'm still subbed and always a like.
Great content! Question for ya -- What if the modem from my internet provider is only wifi 6? Will i still see the added benefits of wifi if i use this router?
Thanks, Chris, can it be used as access point only with a Fritz Box as router?
Looks pretty awesome how would you compare these with the tplink Wi-Fi 7 that you reviewed not too long ago?
The TP-Link produces faster speeds but from what I've seen over time Eero is more reliable. If you want faster speeds and you're okay with needing to reboot your router every few weeks and you want a little bit more customization then you might like TP-Link better.
@Chris majestic what do you use for your local network speed tests? I heard you use iPerf3 but what are you using to make it a webserver so you can run the speed tests via web browser?
With this one are you able to choose between the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz ? Or still cannot as in the previous models?
how this works as a matter thread hub? does it have its own app to control the devices?
What is the best projector you would get, cost between $1000-$1500? Maybe a do a video on it. Thanks
What’s your take on Orbi 970 Series?
Are they compatible with the eero 6 system? Or would I need to get a few 7s? Kind of a deal breaker if so
Would it make sense to make this the gateway vs my 6 pro E?
I have orbi RBK50. How will i know when I'm ready to up grade.
Quick question - I take it you can not separate the 2.4 and 5ghz channels like you can with Asus. You also need devices that can take advantage of wifi 7. What device are you using for testing?
What modem are you using ?
It’s worth to upgrade from the 6E?
Maybe I missed this but what speed internet does he have from his internet provider?
As soon as i can im getting
@ChrisMajestic can I buy the Eero7 “brain” and use my remaining Eero6+ as the bridge? (Of course I won’t get the speed from those Eero6+ modules)
Yes you can.
Hi Chris, love your videos.. Have large 5000 sq ft 2 story with basement. House is wide but not deep. Need good coverage at extreme corners. Speed not an issue. Reliable coverage paramount. Modem at front wall ground floor. Single router works barely. Have 4TB 870 EVO SSD attached for music NAS. Would WiFi 6 or 6E be smartest choice. Thank you! Richard
With a 5000 sq for house I’d pay someone to run Ethernet from one side of the house to the other. That way both access points produce good speeds
what modem are you using?
Curious if Amplifi is planning on an alien wifi 7 router? I love the current one except it doesn’t have usb port for external HD.
The Amplifi line is long overdue for an upgrade but I haven’t heard anything about a new product yet.
So, if I don't care about WiFi 7 but I DO care about the 10G / 2.5G ports, what router would you suggest? I need strong wifi signal, but I don't care about WiFi 7.
Does this thing make its own internet? Or do i already need a internet company to hook into it?
Amazing, but the price is amazing too. That means sorry not for this price.
Eero Max 7 has issues with Bridged mode that the PRO 6 didn't.
I have used Eero mesh systems for the last three iterations on bridged mode (behind a Sonicwall firewall). This week I decided to upgrade the Eero Pro 6 (which consistently gets 800 to 900GB download) with the Max 7. Unfortunately, I'm using the EXACT same configuration the Max 7 and it only gets about 160 GB down... consistently) . If I put the PRO 6 back, I'm back to >800. Put the Max 7 back down to
I bought this . Download 1,200 . How do I improve my upload speed which shows 32
Hook them together with a proper ethernet cable, then what would you get?
Wired speeds from satellites were the same as fastest speeds from main access point.
Maybe someone can clear this up for me. Currently I have AT&T Fiber and my max speed is 1G. Would it be a waste of money to buy something like this and just wait until AT&T increases the speed of my home internet? And if I were to buy one of these Can I use it to replace my current AT&T router?
Yes, a clear waste of money. Cannot interface into the fiber connection. By the time all your AT&T speeds are at Cat7 speed, this equipment will probably have failed and need replacement.
@@SpaceCadet4Jesusyou can use the wifi7 as a back haul and get gig speed internal in your network. Not a waste
I got the pro 6e when it was on sale to upgrade from the OG Eero’s and it was a good price for 3. This is way out of my price range.
Make sure to enable EERO labs the local DNS caching as it helps in the long run
1700$ ? I'd put cables throughout the house + 50$ access points in each room and call it a day.
Was your access point connected to Ethernet or WiFi?
The mesh access point at the end of the testing was connected via wifi. When wired the mesh access points produce the same speeds as the main access point.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks for the clarification. :)
What’s speed test on WiFi 6
charts are near the end of the video
Can you clarify when you did your speed tests if they were done with the distance and only 1 note, or did you have multiple nodes setup for your testing speed. I'm not sure if the twas clarified for your testing scenarios and would be useful to note for my plans on possibly updating to this system.
My wifi 6 phone antenna is way worse than my laptop and PC antennas. Is this normal?
Yes. Most phones have 2x2 antennas while some laptop and PCs have 4x4 so they’re often faster.
@@ChrisMajestic thank you for this.
Im gonna save up for it, once the price gets a bit more affordable. 600 dollars is too much
Ill stick to my eero pro 6 because i have 4 units with average speeds 300-900 mbs not gonna waste more $$$
No payment plans I’m just wait till it drops in price. Probably going to be 2 years
$1,699 woah!!
No web interface is an automatic no, and at this price point? smh
$1700. $2000 on the next. $2500 on the next. $5000 on the next. Economy crashes on the next.
Eero wifi 7 is useless without advanced settings and Eero refuses to give users advanced settings. Eero users can't even separate 2.4 and 5ghz bands, nor can they change the channels- there's much more you can't do. People with many smart devices need proper router settings. Eero also downgrades features in bridge mode. Why spend
Agreed. It would be so much better if they had more advanced options.
@@ChrisMajesticis there better 7 option ?
I'm not paying 1700 bucks for reduced distance and speed, simply put no freaking way. 6E is as high I will go and it's faster than that at a distance!!!!!!! Thanks for the video and your time.
It still has 6E, 6, and 5.
What internet provides do you all use?
The eero phone app needs work. You setup everything on the phone and it still asks you to subscribe.
yeah very bad gui programming.
Too expensive
Chris, I love ya but it would be nice to watch a video without a sponsor. I pay for TH-cam premium because I hate ads as it is and then I get hit with these now. Less sponsored ads please
I appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately TH-cam ads alone are not enough to sustain a lucrative TH-cam career. This is why nearly all successful TH-camrs have sponsored videos.
@@ChrisMajestic hopefully TH-cam starts seeing these comments and start paying better for content creators. These sponsored ads are everywhere now. Makes me not want to use the product if anything, but I hear ya, do your thing!
@@JA-hy8nu hey. At least I gave you the yellow bar so you can easily skip through the ad 😉
Get sponsorblock
How many times are we going to fall for the same scenario. What good is an additional super high frequency band that can’t travel a distance. Bottom line is you spend hundreds of dollars to basically get a wireless connection for your phone or tablet inside the house everything else should just be using wired connectionswhich are always gonna be much faster than this crappy Wi-Fi stuff. This is just another half baked idea to sell more hardware
Why do you need distance when they all cover the house fine. It’s not like you want to broadcast this to the neighborhood for resale purposes. The entire point is speed and backhaul when you are seeing 5gig connections become norm or cable soon and fiber already. You are speaking as if they don’t cover the house.
