Possibly the best compliment is when people see a hand-made, one-off, custom piece..and don't realise that it is one. When something is so perfect, they assume it's the result of engineers, big factories and lots of dollars. Even car guys are going to wonder about this grille shell!

Anybody who complains about the price of custom handmade body pieces needs to watch this video just to see how many hours goes into making the parts just right. Also, I like brass as a welding backer. I have a brass dolly that I found at an old dudes shop that works great for filling gaps and holes.

The show is great. I’ve watched lots of different how to do it car shows in none of them come close to this one. I’m a retired College college professor, and I know what good teaching is and he’s a natural easy to understand explains things very clearly informative and also entertaining I also appreciate the decorum. He never uses profanity, even when that piece of metal flew up and hit him in the eye. Some car shows are just laced with it on how to use so unnecessary but that’s not the case with this show, I’m gonna be a regular watcher. I’ve watched about eight or nine different episodes. Enjoyed everyone of them. Thanks Jennings Marshall.

I've built a few custom motorcycle tanks, cutting up others and assembling, but never reached the quality of tig welding you have shown in this grill. I wish had the experience with sheet metal that you have shown, that whole coupe is really coming together in a beautiful way. I was always welding plate and only ventured into sheet metal in the last years of my welding, you do an excellent job both in fitting and welding, and illustrating your technique, I've learned as much about sheet in the last two years as the previous forty years. At least I know what to ask for from the guys who are doing the sheet work, now. Thanks! Can't wait to see this custom finished and painted.

I was worrying about the center section dipping down where it joins together, but of course you handle it. I'm still concerned that the center will be a bit fragile. I think I would be tempted to bend a piece of plate and put a reinforcement doubler behind the center rib. Just seeing how much work you put into one part of the car makes you start to appreciate the hundreds and thousands of hours someone can get into a full custom build. Pretty frickin amazing.

Your skill at metal working is something to be proud of. So often, we see lazy, quick metal work that is subpar at best. Then they cover it in way too much body filler. As you know, filler is only meant as the thinnest skim coat to smooth minor imperfections good metalwork can't always fix. While your metal work is top quality and time-consuming real working. Love it. Thanks.

    Another great tutorial!
Next on my agenda, tig welding. Mine, sadly is lift arc.
    That grille is looking awesome!
I use copper backing quite often, it really helps with gaps, and thin metal.
I will comment on the Mother Tucker hammer, i felt the weight and was concerned but honestly, its the ticket for shrinking. The weight is there to move the metal, especially to get the tuck started. I have no regrets buying the hammer. Cant wait to get started on the cab repairs now.
This grille is one of a kind, unique and tastefully done.
Will be in the neighbourhood Aug 26. Would like to roll by for a quick shop tour if possible.

I would like to see you create a "32" Ford (or Chevy) with a slanted grill and windshield - similar to a '34 - but NOT Chopped. Keep the cute height of the originals (maybe increase the length of the doors a couple of inches - enough to make it more comfortsble - but not noticeable).
