The paper thrown on the floor at the end would have driven me up a wall after essentially fucking off for 3 days to break even. Respect yourself Craig its not wrong to put yourself first
Craig did not even break even. He actually lost money just trying to keep a person happy that likely is unhappy in another part of their life and is just taking it out on him. He had the hard costs of time and labor to go to the auction, find a suitable Honda and then pay his employee to prep it. Then there are the opportuntity costs (the greatest costs), of how else he could have been spending that time and those resources to make more money. A lot of people just think that any business owner is just someone that makes more money than them and that they are owed something because of that. What people do not realize is that their is a huge sacrifice by small business owners that they do not see. Things like: risk, time, money, etc. and that if the business owner happens to make it through all of the obstacles and sacrifices (which most don't),, that they are required to distribute those extra gains to those that feel entitled to them. That is just a fallacy. Those that take the risks and put in the time and effort should reap the biggest rewards. Do the best you can for your customers and employees but at the end of the day you must make a profit.
I sold cars at a new car dealer for years. We had these problems all the time until we got a new sales manager. He empowered us to tell any customer to leave and never come back if we felt the customer would be a problem. Despite countless bad reviews, our store sold a ton of cars each month. He always said, and I'll never forget it, "sometimes you just have to fire a customer"! How true.
I was going to comment about firing the customer as well. I was in technical sales for almost 50 years and I was fortunate to have a really great customer base. Only had one or two customers that we "fired" in that whole time.
I am in software sales and sometimes we have fire customers as well. Even lucrative ones because they are more trouble then it's worth. Clearly this guy is in this category.

I just went around used car dealerships, and none of them had this level of customer service and care. I would be paying you guys extra for being so amazing and putting in so much work to help even the meanest people.
That is an UNBELIEVABLE offer from a Dealer. I would buy a car from you in a heartbeat.
as a mechanic and car flipper myself, you definitely handled better than I would of! I'm in Philadelphia...I don't have to tell you anything after that lol. when I get nice people, it actually throws my day off because I'm used to people like that. thanks for the content, love the detailing tips and tricks!
* would have 🙂
Please have him arrested for trespassing if he ever comes back to your place. You, sir, are a great human being Nuff said
You are a great guy and very patient.
You did this customer a huge favor .
I guess he's just a miserable person and nothing will please him.
I owned a retail store for 20 years until last year I retired. You are so right about customer reviews. Happy customer:s rarely leave reviews but do become return buyers/shoppers. Bad reviews are almost always due to a customer being so wrong and angry at something not even a real issue,or as I've seen the customer royally screwed up and can't take ownership of it. You went well beyond what most dealerships would do.
I had a costumer get mad at me because she took car to a shop and they told her that it had too much rust, she yelled and screamed at me while I was telling her that it was ok to bring it back and I will give her money back, she told me while I was giving her the cash that she wasn’t going to leave a bad review, guess what? she left me a bad review two days later 😢
Throwing the floor lining on the ground the way he did would’ve took me beyond my limit!!! Kudos to you man
You are a true gentleman. I get people at my Dental Practice. You can never make those kinds of people happy. They have issues in their private lives as well. I feel sorry for his kid that has to grow up with that jerk as a father.
yup hopefully kid and wife is out of the house
What's really unfortunate is that his kid will grow up; jest like Dad!🤣
@@jdawg3712 This. The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.
LOL i sold a 2012 holden captiva for $5500Private sale" person comes back 6 months later saying they had to pay the dealer over $6.000 in repairs and demanded i paid him in cash for those repairs. " lets just say i told him to F*** right off! lol
The paper mat on the pavement was the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever seen
I wish I knew how that guy felt justified by yelling at you. You went above and beyond for that guy. I could only take so much before I told him to take a hike !! 8 freak'in months !!!
I assume it’s the famed 2.0TFSI timing chain
edit: yup it was the timing chain
As a former used car manager you should have said to him , I completely understand sir . You wanted to buy a NEW used car . Then shown him the door .
No problem sir.We will just call up the Used Car factory and tell them to make you a new Audi A4.
All used car salesman are losers and liars.
Lot's of people like him around. Seems to be more and more everyday. Really enjoy your stories.
Upstanding customer service. You and your team went above and beyond. Almost makes me want to drive the 18 plus hours to purchase a vehicle from your dealership. Thanks for the submission.
You are a standup guy to take care of your customers so well. You should feel good about yourself and your ethics even though the other person didn’t appreciate or take accountability for his actions; you went above and beyond. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great business!
Tony
You are a saint! A good person no doubt and he’s lucky that you took care of him. Wish there were more people like you
Customer service 101: you spend 90% of your time on 10% of your customers who are rotten and don't deserve it and 10% of your time on the 90% of your great customers
Most people would say you went way above and beyond the call of duty. But I understand. You're in a small town. One irrate customer can cause all sorts of trouble for you. This is why I love your channel. God bless!
He already did 12000 miles on the car? You should’ve asked him to provide his oil change receipt to prove if he maintained the car properly with the correct oil.
Doesn't matter. Its "as-is". If it was 12 miles and it blew up, its still customer is SOL
@@mph5896 It is an as is, but the maintenance receipt would have been a jab in the POS' side for being a douche.
Your an awesome and honest used car dealer we need more people like you
I will always appreciate people like Craig.. and I understood the customers frustration but the fact that he showed no gratitude is just horrible, I hate people so much
You are a patient man. I have a feeling this won't be the last time you'll see him... He sensed that he can get away with being a jerk and probably thinks that he can use you next time there is something wrong with his car.
Happy customers is a quiet customer. Very true.
Once again Craig going above and beyond.
This guy is too good to his customers! If it were me I wouldn't have done any of this for someone that starts yelling and giving threats thinking they can get something out of being abusive. He lost so much money taking care of that customer only for him to continue to be disrespectful and ungrateful. People like that don't deserve good people like Craig.
Well done, Craig. That's amazing service by a used car dealer.... glad to see you love Wranglers so much. I'm a Jeep engineer (Wrangler, Wagoneer) and it's nice to see your appreciation for them. (I also know the Wranglers probably make you a nice profit margin). Jeff
So happy there are normal people out there, I see people like the Audi guy every day and it’s sad, great vid!
bet he gives advice to his son like "Son, in this world if you dont get what you want... Complain about it until you get it"
After more than 6 months, I would have told him no dice. You are too nice. Hopefully his family members won't come and buy cars from you and do the same thing.
No dice chino
Sometimes it’s a good to be harsh to such people, that’s when they will understand that they are full of arrogance and wake up to reality. If you’ve done everything correctly, then there’s nothing you should be worried about and even worse if you give them too much, obviously they will keep walking all over you. You’ve done a great job, but you should also be fair and treat those who buy warranty differently to those who do not. Don’t let reviews affect you too much, because we can probably give you so many 5 star reviews 😌
Man, I respect this man a lot for being so patient with that man who was clearly wrong. I wish there were more people like that.
Craig, i dont even need a car and want to buy a car from you! Just never an Audi, lol. You deserve to prosper and make me rethink my own views on insependent used car dealers. Thanks for your channel and all that you share!
You are a better person than most still trying to help someone lashing out like that.
As a mechanic there are times where I will not accept the job if a customer and out because I don't want to deal with the headache if something were to go wrong. Customers tend to blame everything that goes wrong after you fix the problem on you even if it's not related to what you did
As a cashier, I get absolutely understand what he is going through. Some people are just unconsolable jerks. Nine out of ten customers I get are decently well-mannered and understandable but there is always this one person on my shift that just has no regard for responsibility or human error. However, I have to say what Mr. Stewart went through has been definitely worst than any experience I have been through. I feel bad that someone got raised by him.
I live in CA ,AND I wish that your business was accessible here,Sir .
I love to watch your videos .You are a real inspiration .Thank You!
Craig,you are a gentleman
Hello I am a dealer in NJ. This is one of your best videos. Good lesson on diffusing hostility.
Wow, you really went over and above for this guy. I hope deep down on some level he does appreciate it. And at least you can sleep good knowing you did more than you should have.
No way I’ll help someone like that , you are an angel my friend 😇
I love the title haha "Male Karen". Perfect!
We need a name for them... Randy maybe?
He realized this guy is a huckster
@@bearbonesphones4686 Ken!!🤣
I've been watching for quite some time now, you do one hell of a job!!!! Honest and legit 👌
You definitely give car dealerships a better name. I love your honesty and ethics. If I lived closer I’d come to you for my next car purchase.
I find i always get further being polite and respectful when I'm unsatisfied with a product or service. That guy was just a miserable sob. I bet he talks down to his wife too.
Unfortunately jerks like him get what they want by being jerks as evidenced by this video, I which he would have been made to leave the property and never return again.
His son was probably beating the heck out of that Audi lol
Your a honest person and a good man don’t let the haters effect you. Love the channel
I had no idea you were local to me till I just looked it up. Love how straight you are with people. I'll 100% consider you when I'm ready for new wheels!
had to give you a like for putting up with people like this. I doubt I wouldn't have helped him. $400 Is a good deal for a basic mechanical warranty. Keep at it videos like this show your honest character. I would buy from you.
Just today, Scotty Kilmer put out a video of 3 cars that won't last 150K miles. #1 was Audi A4 2.0T
You really listen to that cringy old man? I’ve seen plenty of 2.0T VW Audi models make it past 250k easily on Copart. Although I do agree that the timing chain is the weakest link of this motor
@@RegionalRadioShackManager they are crappy cars like bmw. Hondas and toyotas are always the way to go
@@danielserrano6983 well you just dont know how to maintain them bmw are great as long as you change the oil at least every 15 k kms .... vw is nothing different u take care of the car and the car will run my dad drives one with 210 k kms and my mom has one with 150 k both still run almost perfect
@@timelesssss I’ve got a W211 Mercedes, no air suspension, it can be reliable, but German cars are more expensive to repair than Japanese cars.
@@timelesssss See, I agree, All these cool german brands can rack up serious miles, but the problem consists of the consumers. Consumers don't know how to/when to do these special maintenance routine things.
Let me know when it’s fixed I might be interested in buying it with a warranty if the price is right. Great job doing the right thing being the better person.
Driving off after throwing the paper floor mat out says everything, no audio of him required.
Living proof that; "No good deed goes unpunished" Just imagine being married to or working with/for a jerk like that buyer?? Love your attitude BTW.
Mah mahn, what a fantastic Salesman you are. His Son probably blew the engine, and you still helped him out. 10/10 for your Customer Service. This Customer will soon find out: What goes around COMES AROUND - but maybe it has already - that's why he "performed" like that. Highly entertaining video - thanx 👌
This video really showed me your patients
You got played
I would have told him to get off my lot.
I am definitely buying my next car from you. I can have a new car every year.
Awesome
Your a greater man than he ever deserved to meet in his life....💯
Good stuff. Always take care of customers. If they don’t appreciate it. The next customer will. And it will come back to you 100 fold of positivity 🤗
I worked as a service manager at a powersports dealership for 5 years. People get so shitty so quickly and there is never personal accountability on the customers end. They just want to throw a temper tantrum when something doesn't go the way they wanted it to. You could be the perfect dealer and this will always happen no matter what. Do what you can, when you can.
What a POS of costumer, he even took out the paper mat and trashed it on your lot. He doesn't deserve your business, you did too good to him. karma always ends up biting back at people like that.
When I had a mail order business I instructed my employees that when they had a customer yelling at them on the phone for whatever reason to tell that customer that they must be having a hard day and to please call back when they are felling better. Most of the customers called back and apologized for the first call.
"male order business" lol......
That’s nice that you had enough confidence in yourself to not join the customer in the land of irrationality.
You’re a pretty honest person.. I live in Harrisburg, pa if I lived closer I would look you up
You really went above & beyond to take care of this difficult customer.
Sounds like that guy was just straight up a p.o.s and probably has done it before I feel bad man you don't need the headache
You know, this world is also missing service. He didn't deserve it but you did offer service, you have nothing to regret there. It provides me hope in general that customer service still exists.
HOLY SHIT CRAIG YOUR PARENTS MUST HAVE BOUGHT THE WARRANTY WHEN YOU WERE BORN, CAUSE YOU HAVE MORE PATIENCE THEN MOST OF US.... IF HE COMES BACK PUT HIM ON CAMERA...
Imagine how happy his family is to deal with him every day. Wow, just wow.
You are a good man. Some day if I need a car I plan to order it from you even if I need to ship it to the great state of Texas. But definitely I won’t forget to get the warranty. Take care and keep up the great work!
Shows character you did that for him even when he totally didn’t deserve it.
Wow, you have a lot of patience. Do yourself a favor and never sell that guy a car again.
Wow, I'm surprised you worked with him, I would've told him to screw off.
Good resolve ! That's First Class Customer service my friend.
You’re a standup man, and you just received another subscriber.
A lot of entitlement was going on with this customer.
