Thank you for teaching as you work. Hearing your inner artist talk and teach is so helpful. You’ve taught me to be more purposeful instead of my approach of dumping the resin and see what happens. Again, thank you for sharing your work and for inspiring me.
This is BEAUTIFUL I work a lot in Acrylics on Tile I put my White or Black first all over the TILE Then I put my Pink or (whatever color I want) on the top of the background color while wet... I BLOW either with a big Straw or a Blow Dryer on the top color making flowers... Then I top coat it with the resin or Mod Podge Demential Magic if I don't want to use Resin. Thank you for sharing this Beautiful video
I can't thank you enough for not only doing these videos for us, but HOW you do these videos. You calmly explain both the What and also the Why. Thank you. Can you please tell me the brand for the pink pigment powder? I looked in the Artisue website and didn't see that one.
thank you. That raging raspberry is stunning 😍 I bought that from a chinese ebay sight. It is a synthetic mica pigment. A quick google of "raging raspberry mica pigment" comes up with all the various sites its available.
From this angle it looks like a bird man dressed in a tuxedo or black suit with white shirt. He looks kind of upset, or maybe it's ruffled! So sorry, but I see him so clear and such an almost broken hearted face on him. It's completely wonderful, thanks for showing this process . Amazing
Hi Chris! Missing you again, hope you're having a great Spring/Summer, cold and wet in Texas now. Hope to see you create something amazing again, soon! Karen
The smaller 8x8" tiles fit in a standard square photo frame and hubby makes frames for the larger ones in the same style. Metal clips hold the tile inside the frame and hardware is attached to the back of the frames.
What a wonderful harmony of colours an hard/soft edges! Question: what is the colour in the black mixture: pigments oder black ink? Thank you and best regards!
The pigment pastes are by an Australian company and the brand name is “Artisue”. This is a pigment paste that is specifically designed for epoxy resin and the black gives a wonderful coverage.
One of the prettiest resin painting I have seen! I paint flowers in tradition mediums, oils mostly, you have inspired me to try painting flowers in resin. The tile you are using is that just a glazed floor tile? Also the heat gun you are using is that the same type you buy for removing paint? Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work!
this one is a matt floor tile. I clean thoroughly and if it needs it a quick sand. I love flowers and have been working on some lovely colour combinations that I want to use soon. The heat gun is from the local hardware store You can get smaller ones used for crafting with embossing powders or you can use a hairdryer.
This has to be one of my most favorites of your videos! I am super excited to try resin art. I have never tried it, but you've inspired my internal art bug that's been itching for creativity. What advise would you give someone trying this for the very first time?
Start small, have a plan, be organised with all the lids off everything, keep a timer on as you only have 25-30 minutes to work with,.stay clean...... resin gets everywhere and most important stay safe. If you get resin on you clean it off immediately, never touch your face
Gorgeous piece the only thing that could of taken this video to the ultimate level would have been to watch u create it from an over head view. Will u be creating a video with that view if not could u consider it im learning this type of resin art and feel u have a great deal to offer teaching if that makes sense
Thank you. I am very low tech when it comes to these videos and do not have the equipment or setup to do any other views. Sorry. I basically tape me doing my thing and most times I forget you are watching. LOL
I've never seen this done before so excuse me if this is an odd question.... You seem to use the torch to pop any bubbles. Doesn't the heat gun also bust the bubbles?? If so, what's the purpose of using one over the other?? Thank you! Doe, South Texas, USA
The heat gun softens the resin and make it more liquid which helps lower the viscosity and release the bubbles easier. Its the flame (carbon dioxide) of a torch that actually pops the bubble. You can do with any flame ore even blowing on them..... a torch is just easier.
I use a variety of different resins and choose the resin based on properties rather than brand. I like the high viscosity resins because they are slower to move and I can keep the shapes I want.
Beautiful! Thank you! :-) I tried with black Resi-Tint and then alcohol inks; flamingo and purple twilight, but they just disappeared. Do you think it is because they are transparent? (Artisue does not ship to Norway where I live).
The best way I found to use Alcohol inks is to use a standard white for your design and then when your have stopped moving your resin drop the alcohol ink ontop of the white. They will bloom and move but over the white sections will show your colours. I love alcohol ink but they fade a lot in your resin piece. Can you get some acrylic inks to use instead.
Hello, I read only a few of the comments...hoping I would not replicate another. I love your videos and work for all the stated reasons. The only thing about this video is the reflection of the white cabinet....made it hard to see what you were doing. When you shot (at the end) from above...it was 1000 more beautiful than what I saw with the reflection in it. Just thought I would share my thought on this. I am inspired to try this now....thank you!
Beverly Aten It depends on the tiles I get. I try to get the matt finish ones but if they are gloss I lightly score or sand and then clean thoroughly with alcohol. Check to see if your tiles have a coating of any sort because that will impact the grip the resin can get on the substrate.
I have enjoyed watching you create this beautiful piece. Thank you very much for sharing. One question please if you don’t mind me asking - what brand of Resin did you use please?
I get asked this all the time and I try and prompt people to think of resin properties rather than specific brands. have 5 resins on the go at the moment ranging from low viscosity 2:1 to high viscosity 1:1 they all have different properties. Some take higher heat, have different working times, better for layering or for coating. I try not to get stuck with one type because i learn more by being versatile.
I am lucky I have both so I just get some of the cheaper ones with a matt finish (if I can). If they are gloss you need to sand lightly so the resin has something to grip to.
It depends on the resin you have. Epoxy resins have anywhere between 20-40mins depending on your workspave temp. Have a look at the technical data sheet for your specific resin
Beautiful. Chris. Love the colour, and have ordered some of the raspberry and a few other pigments from EBay. I love Sue’s pigments, but Aussie shipment prices are probably rather high to the UK, not to mention import duties. I may give in to temptation as the plum looks decadent.xx
I have the rrest of the neons from the same place as the raging raspberry and the colours are divine. I hear you on shipping. I buy most of my supplies online and shipping is a major factor in the purchase decisions I make.
I really have no idea how China can send big packets of colour for less than we pay in postage to someone in same country as us. I ordered some golds recently , expecting a small packet and instead I received 5 packets of each.......more than I can ever use......well I will have a good try lols.xx
I was the same. I ordered a lot of different colours and then the different shades of my favourites and ended up with decades worth. LOL I just love colour and how they all interact. I found my straps with mica and pigment powders and I am coming back to them and incorporating them in the new works.
Hey there lovely n talented chris just marcy from wagga again with a question.. Lovely! Do you ever do another layer over? add any glitter etc. I love it just as is just curious. I am trying to build up my courage to do my first resin piece soon. Ordered all the resin :-) Also the mixing of Mica and sparkles are they added in layers?

Sorry.........Most of the pigments shown in this video are made and sold in Australia and may not be available on Amazon. The fushia is a pigment from Artisue (Australian)
I tried my first resin and was wondering if it was typical for mixing colors to resin to require a great deal of mixing. It acted as though it didn't want to accept the color.
I haven’t had that experience personally. If you are using powders they don’t actually mix, they just disperse through the resin, If you are using pigments, ink or paint it should mix easily. Remember not to add too much as you will impact the curing of your resin.
Hanging/displaying and framing your artwork is as important as the actual piece and completely outside of my knowledge. If your art is a standard size you might be able to get store bought frames but if not you might need to strike up a relationship with a local framer who has all the tools and machinery to custom make them for you.
I was wondering what you do with all the resin pours you have done so far. Not sure if you sell any since there is no website information. Thank you for your anticipated response !
I do this for pure pleasure and enjoy the process of discovery as much as the final creating of the pieces. I either give them away, keep the for myself or repour over the top. I don't sell them and my online prescent is limited to these videos and some FB groups.

I try to be prepared, have a plan and have a timer working so that I can monitor how long it is taking me. It is obviously a bit trickier if you are doing larger pieces to get everything done in time.
I love it when the bright colors pop on the black and they don't just sink in and disappear. Awesome job

I am new to your channel, but by minute 12 you had me grabbed! Thankyou for being a truly great teacher!
Thank you and welcome.
Absolute beautiful piece!
OMG this is gorgeous. I really like how you can manipulate the colors in the resin. So very beautiful 🥰🥰🥰💖👍🏻

Luv luv luv. Beautiful piece of art. ThankU.
Beautiful as always 💜
Gorgeous!
incredibly beautiful
Beautiful work and your voice is so soothing I am feeling relaxed after watching your videos. Can you tell me please what resin you use?
That is so beautiful thank you for posting, I'm going to TRY this.x
Stunning !! Thank you for verbalizing your thought process.
Very diffent from acrylic pours. Very nic.
+gr8eft Are you on something? Stop stealing other peoples comments.
Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful. Well done. Could you please tell me what would be your advise on framing the tiles. Thankyou xxxxxxx

You are a wealth of information and a stunning artist. Thank you for sharing. What brand of resin do you use and is it available in the US?
Resin is expensive here in Australia so I try and buy local brands. 🙁
BEAUTIFUL!!!

Chris Cross me too, that’s why I was asking. I can’t rally find such a high viscosity Resin. Would you share your brand of this resin? Thank you 😍
Resin available to me in this level of viscosity are Craftsmart glass coat, U-Resin thick, Alumilite Amazing, Barnes Glass coat
hi
this so great and lovely
but
how much time does it takes to fully get dry ??
Most of the epoxy resins I use are dry to the touch in 4 hours. Hard overnight and then fully cured in 3-5 days.
Beautiful! Thank you! :-) I tried with black Resi-Tint and then alcohol inks; flamingo and purple twilight, but they just disappeared. Do you think it is because they are transparent? (Artisue does not ship to Norway where I live).

So beautiful. One question. Do you sand your tiles first for adhesion? This is the first of yours I have seen. Already subscribed.
Beverly Aten It depends on the tiles I get. I try to get the matt finish ones but if they are gloss I lightly score or sand and then clean thoroughly with alcohol. Check to see if your tiles have a coating of any sort because that will impact the grip the resin can get on the substrate.

It looks stunning. What would you use the tile for?
They are decorative pieces. I frame and hang them on my walls
Is it a tile you’d get at Bunnings or a a tile shop?
I am lucky I have both so I just get some of the cheaper ones with a matt finish (if I can). If they are gloss you need to sand lightly so the resin has something to grip to.
Absolutely beautiful! Love knowing the reasoning behind why you make the decisions you make during the process. What pigments and inks did you use?
The pigments for this piece are by Artisue Creative and the Inks by JustResin both are Australian companies.
this looks so dreamy, absolutely lovely! How long does the resin stay workable
It depends on the resin you have. Epoxy resins have anywhere between 20-40mins depending on your workspave temp. Have a look at the technical data sheet for your specific resin
Very pretty
Beautiful ❣
😊
beautiful exotic bird
😀🏆 this maybe the 7th time i am watching, love it
What brand is your colors pls i will give it a try
Thank you. They are great pigment pastes from an Australian company called artisue. Similar pastes can be found at Art tree creations
I just love this piece

Such a lovely piece of work. Are you still painting? GiGi
thank you so much ❤️ yes I am still painting. working on both my abstract landscapes and using tools. exploring collage and mixed media.
Stunning!
Hi! Have you used acrylic inks or paints? And are you using a heat gun or hair blower?
Yes I use all sorts of colourants depending on what results I am looking for. Also both the heat gun and hairdryer are great tools for resin.
Chris Cross Thanks. In this present vedio, are you using a heatgun?. I love the colours. Would like to try on a canvas.
Sorry this is a heat gun. This particular heat gun has a temperature dial so you can choose low or high heat. Go for it. Resin is good fun. 😄
Love this piece it is beautiful, will it look different when it’s dry? Thanks for sharing🌺
Thank you Gloria. Because i don't add a lot of heat and I have a good level it cured exactly as finished.
Love your work love resin your a great teacher thanks like always and is that a specific tile .
Thank you Faye. you are right it is gorgeous
Hey there lovely n talented chris just marcy from wagga again with a question..
I know youve spectacularly outgrown the old boring acrylic on canvas pouring but i wondered if youd be soooo very generous n share your global flow paint weights with me eg white first/heaviest etc i just cant seem to get consistancy thanks 😊
Hi stranger. I am so glad you posted. I tried to find you on FB but too many Marcy Smith"s I will message you
Chris Cross ill b marcia smith who works at riot art and craft id love to make friends lol 😉
Lovely! Do you ever do another layer over? add any glitter etc. I love it just as is just curious. I am trying to build up my courage to do my first resin piece soon. Ordered all the resin :-) Also the mixing of Mica and sparkles are they added in layers?
I find the challenge of creating depth and movement using colour, tones and contrast in a single pour the most fun. So if I add another coat is is almost always clear and just to fix any surface flaws. I don’t use glitter as such because I have mica’s that are different sized flakes and can achieve similar shimmer and sparkle.
Beautiful!
Can I ask you where do you buy powder pigments.?I couldn't t find fuchsia anywhere...:(
The Fushia is a pigment paste from an Australian company called Artisue. My nemesis colour LOL
What do you use to get the black and white resin colour. Is it ink or do you add paint to the resin
In this piece I used black and white pigment paste. I show them at the start of the video.
Thank you, which kind of resin you use from which brand?
I get asked this all the time and I try and prompt people to think of resin properties rather than specific brands. I have 5 resins on the go at the moment ranging from low viscosity 2:1 to high viscosity 1:1 they all have different properties. Some take higher heat, have different working times, better for layering or for coating. I try not to get stuck with one type or brand because i learn more by being versatile.
A question: you used little bit of black ink.,but I did not noticed when did you use white ink?
I quite often mix up a couple of different whites and blacks just in case I need variety. So many whites are different shades and densities. sometimes I use them and other times I won't need them.
I was looking for the same colors to buy at Amazon and coudn t find it.Please, can you tell me from what site and what brand are your colors for this project.?
Sorry.........Most of the pigments shown in this video are made and sold in Australia and may not be available on Amazon. The fushia is a pigment from Artisue (Australian)
I tried my first resin and was wondering if it was typical for mixing colors to resin to require a great deal of mixing. It acted as though it didn't want to accept the color.

this is beautiful......:)
Hi Chris, How would you go about hanging the tile? I have not seen any video as yet, unless I have missed it. Love this piece Thanks for sharing.
The small tiles we use standard photo frames and the larger floor tiles hubby makes frames and attach hanging hardware to the frame.
What do you use to hang the art. Will you do a tutorial on hanging art?
What type of material are you doing this on? Is it some kind of stone tile?
I use matt finish ceramic wall and floor tiles
Chris Cross So, what do you do with the piece to allow it to be mounted on a wall?
the smaller tiles fit into a store bought 8x8 photo frame and the hubby makes frames for the larger 13x13 tiles
How does one hang or frame tiles. Do you have a video of how your husband makes your frames?
The small 8x8 tiles fit inside a store bought photo frames. The large tiles are framed using the same concept. Metal clips hold the tile in place and sorry hubby is shy so no videos. 😀
What are those pink things you raise your tiles on?
They are silicon cake moulds. I find they are sturdy enough to hold the tiles this size and they are uneffected by any heat you may add to the tile. Resin and paint just peel off.
What do you do with your tiles once they are finished, Do you hang them or incorporate them into a tiling project on a floor or wall?
I frame and hang them. Hubby makes the frames.
Thankyou very much xx
I'm going to try with acrylic paint. How much resin and hardner do I mix? Do I use the 50 50 ratio or more resin then hardner?
Follow the instructions on the resin you have.
What do you do with the back of the tile? How do you hang this?
You can either frame it or attach it to a backing board with liquid nails and then hang the backing board.
Do you use paper cups. Do they have a wax inside or just paper so they melt from resin.
I have some silicon cups but normally use plastic cips. I haven't tried paper ones
Lovely! 🙋♀️🎨❣
Awesome!
I had to give you 👍👍👍
💞💞💞
What type of ink..alcohol or acrylic? Can you use either type
The inks in this video are acrylic inks. You can use alcohol inks but they do fade over tiime and the slight tinge of yellow in resin will alter the colours eg purples become browns.
would you please me the name of the resen that you use?
I get asked this all the time and I try and prompt people to think of resin properties rather than specific brands. I have 5 resins on the go at the moment ranging from low viscosity 2:1 to high viscosity 1:1 they all have different properties. Some take higher heat, have different working times, better for layering or for coating. I try not to get stuck with one type or brand because i learn more by being versatile.
Awesome
Lovely
What is the two resin you used can you tell the names please ?
I use a few Australian resins, Craftsmart liquid glass, barnes epoxy glass, u-resin. The low viscosity resins are the thicker 1-1 ratios
I read all 154 comments and I didn't see my question I'm about to ask. If it has been already asked please forgive my eyes. Question about resin: What is the work time? I see you take your time and don't rush through the process. The one I use only allows 45 minutes to work with after stirring.
Most of the resins I use have between 20-45 mins of working time depending on the temperature in my studio. I try to be prepared, have a plan and have a timer working so that I can monitor how long it is taking me. It is obviously a bit trickier if you are doing larger pieces to get everything done in time.
What is the base? Is it wood?
