I came to Nomad after trying forger then watching a blender tutorial on your channel gave it a download and never looked back, I’m an amateur mini creator that I use for my dnd games Thanks loads for all you do your videos are awesome!!
🤔 My primary technology has always been: the pencil ✏️, and it still is. Nomad clicked with me BECAUSE OF THE INTERFACE. iPad & Apple Pencil is a “pencil to paper” experience, with super powers. Previous dabbling in 3d were frustrated by the interface & ADD. Nomad Sculpt is my weapon of choice, and it gets better and better. ✌️🍷🎩🎩🎩
I’ve only just started 3D modelling from a background in tattooing, illustrating, concept art and graphic design, my brother tried getting me to try 3D modelling and when I got an iPad Pro for a wedding gift from my grandparents I found your videos and bought nomad a lot harder than I thought but only just started really and you’ve helped so much going to be paying for some of your tutorials soon! Wish you’d do one for your xenomorphs as that’s really all I’ve wanted to try model besides my own monsters and your T. rex and carnotasaur etc too :) Thankyou for your amazing videos!!! Helped me out soooo much!
I seem to be getting a lot of requests for an alien sculpt tutorial so i might add that to the list. I am due to add more content to the beginners course so I might just add it as a chapter there.
Great stuff as always Glen! I came across Nomad after being a long time (25 plus years) 3D modeler. I’ve primarily used 3D Studio Max and Zbrush in recent years. I was so glad to find an iPad based solution that lets me 3D sculpt anywhere while still being usable in my traditional workflow. It’s truly been a game changer for me, particularly now that I can 3D print highly detailed models right at home on my resin printer.
I think we have very similar backgrounds my friend. I started in 3DS in 91
@@SouthernGFX It sounds like it! My first computer art program was on a Commodore 64 in 16 colors! During college in 1990 I transitioned from drafting on the board to Autocad. That was a revelation! A year later the college offered its first course on 3D, also using Autocad. I remember going to lunch while a single frame was wireframe rendering with hidden surface removal. How far we have come!
Great video, for me I got interested in iPad work as a way to to do personal work away from my desk. After a full days work I lost the energy to produce what I wanted to do as I just didn’t want to be rooted in the same place I had been all day. Now with nomad, procreate etc I can chill on the sofa or anywhere to make something for me.
To answer your question:
I'm a complete beginner and got an iPad Pro with Procreate to tip my toes into the world of digital painting. I have a big screen tablet and Photoshop as well, but Procreate strikes me as something simple, yet effective. When you're just starting out, you should focus on more basic stuff and stay away from all the fancy options something like Photoshop offers. Or Zbrush / Blender for that matter.
I informed myself on which 3D software can be used on Procreate. Mainly to have something to block in an environment to get the perspective right. While researching I came across your channel and your NoMad Sculpt coverage.
Now I'm trying to learn a little bit of NoMad Sculpt in order to have access to 3D in order to enhance my 2D art.
I started just recently with Nomad sculpt because I saw one of my favorite channels using it to produce 3D printed resin masks. I'm talking about @AboveWongArt of course. And since then I've been heavily inspired to continue most likely for the rest of my life. I hope to be a great sculptor and designer for a company or my own company someday.
I am a beginner and went straight to nomad on M1 ipad. Using your courses I am trying to learn this awesome program. Great video!!

Nice stuff! I´ve been 15 years as a pro on videogame industry so zbrush and 3dcoat are very familiar tools for me. But as always i´m always looking for that next cool art tool. So i ended up finding nomad sculpt. At first as recommendation for first sculpting app for my colleagues daughter. But got excited about intuitive gui and ease of use for myself as well. Probably nicest thing in the app is that you can pretty much do complete work without ever leaving from the app. Already excited about new features that are coming down the pipe.
Great video. As a Game /Environment Artist, I've done some high poly sculpts using nomad for baking out on pc.. I'm mostly working with low to medium polycounts, it kills me to not have a decent poly modeller with UV layout and baking on flypad, It's so close but hasn't yet been realised
We are getting there. A poly modeller can’t be far away now.
Adding, I hope Nomad adds more hard surface tools, because that's my primary focus, but you're getting me interested in the sculpting end, as well. 👍
I came from the procreate world. Originally studied fine art. It’s been very interesting playing in the 3d world and bringing models, concepts into 2d art. Have been really focusing on form lately and it’s assists this process beautifully. Thanks for the content dude.
i'm using it on my galaxy note (s22 ultra) at work, because i don't have alot of work at work :) (i'm a crane operator) wonderfull program, i'm very happy that technology has progressed so far that i can just sculpt on my phone
Even though I have two writing degrees, I took many art and design classes because, even though I was much better at writing and got way more awards than I got with my 2d and 3d art projects, I had always been more enamored with visual art. I took four bronze sculpture classes in addition to classes in technical graphics, graphics comm, a year of design, and drawing; I still kick myself for not taking a couple of art history that would have completed a BFA in art for a double-major. Work-wise, I was a copywriter for almost a decade, then, because of my collegiate experience in bronze sculpting, I worked at a bronze foundry. As far as digital sculpting, I learned about while writing ads fo a computer hardware and software reseller and was really excited a digital clay modeling program called Amorphium, which came out 15 years before computer hardware could keep up with it. So when Nomad Sculpt came out at a time when the iPad was actually a thousand times more powerful than a G4 Power Mac was when Amorphium came out, AND it was $10, I had to get it. I have created a small library of rings with cameos and fully 3d heads of the devil, and even considered making NFTs of them, but found out that fame or wealth is almost always required to gain traction in the marketplace. I have procrastinated about selling the pieces at places like Thingiverse, the same way I never wrote and published anything for magazine and book publishers, I still enjoy the fact that I don’t have to keep actual clay moist, find some workspace to keep it, wash my clay tools, make molds, etc. Just amazing in that regard alone, plus, one can create things that could not be created in the real world and use tools that do not exist outside the digital realm. Thank you for your massive contribution to this new world of digital sculpting.
I’m going to say I’m in a 3rd group. I’m someone who has made physical models for 30+ years, and has jumped into 3D modelling with the rise of 3d printing. Nomad sculpt is great for me as I don’t care about any post process, I just need to be able to make a printable stl file, and I find I can transfer my real world sculpting knowledge into the digital world easily through my iPad. In fact I wish I could press undo with real clay 😂
I've always wanted to become a multimedia artist and create things in a ton of different mediums. I currently have experience in 2d and 3d digital and traditional art, graphics design, music, and more. When I first learned about 3D modeling I was ecstatic thinking about the stuff I could make.
However, the vast majority of 3D software can only run on PC due to the performance requirements. At the time I didn't have a computer at all, only mobile devices. On top of not having a computer, I was just accustomed to using a tablet, it's what I had used to make art for a majority of my life, switching over to a computer would require getting over a massive learning curve. I got pretty discouraged by that and felt I couldn't possibly make anything worthwhile with just a tablet.
When I discovered Nomad my passion to start making models had finally returned. A competitive mobile software that's constantly getting updates? Hell yeah, sign me up.
I have a beefy computer nowadays, but I still prefer to 3D sculpt on my tablet, it's simpler for me to use and it blends right in with the other types of art I do on the same device. Being able to transfer my skills in 2D art over to 3D so seamlessly was a big help. I do still plan on learning Blender and Zbrush (if I ever manage to afford that) in the future, but for now I'm comfortable with using Nomad to make the basic models I want.
And that's basically why I do mobile sculpting. Awesome work as always Glen, keep up the good work!

Super interesting!! I got interested in sculpting/modeling out of sheer frustration of not being able to find/buy the assets I want for for my other projects (cinematics in Unreal and iClone mostly) , and doing it on the ipad seemed more intuitive than learning blender (truthfully, everything feels more intuitive than Blender). Loving your channel - - thank you!
I'm same as you lad, on ZB since the very early days. I've dabbled in the other sculpting solutions, but ZB is still untouchable, imo, as the all round sculpting solution. The mobile route holds no interest for me as I work from home and leaving a 4K monitor to work on a tablet wouldn't make sense. 😁 I can definitely see the attraction for non-3D artists who are terrified at the prospects of learning a trad DCC, or an artist on the move all the time, but otherwise? Of course, it also depends on each artist's job and what they need to output, but for me, ZB still has no viable alternative.
When I noticed NOMAD, I was a complete beginner. Many years ago, I had a computer and had Blender, but learning on my own proved too hard as there were no courses. I bought an iPad only a couple of years ago and promptly bought Procreate. I don’t ever expect to make money from this. It’s purely for my own pleasure. (Creating characters and other stuff that has always been in my head). Been learning watercolour painting and all about music apps too because my intention was, and still is, to create a very short animation film and paintings etc… EDIT: I’m not saying I’ll never make a living from art/sculpting, just that it’s not my intention. But you never know… TBH, I just don’t think I have the right attitude to make a living from this or similar, I’m quite old, so speed is not my bag and quite quite happy bimbling along. Really enjoying the course 👍🏼

Hi, i use Nomad for the Ipad, i came to sculpting through youtube and collectables like the old Movie Maniacs by Mc Farlane Toys. Im not good im strugeling alot and shifting between drawing traditionelle and digital as well as sculpting traditionelle and digital, what i would like to be is a portrait sculpter for busts and 1:6 Scale heads.

At 26:50 or so, the legs and arms suddenly appeared on the other side. Did you cut out the part of the video where you duplicated them onto the other side?
Will nomad will be ever making sub app or inside app animation and rig options?
Hi Glen. I've been following you since the Silo days, I still use it. I got interested in Mobile Sculpting after watching some of your YT videos. I tried Blender Sculpting for awhile but didn't click with it. My background with 3D started with Multigen in the 90's, then used Power Animator a little, which became Maya (mostly on an IRIX System). I find Nomad a very comfortable, intuitive Modeling Environment. I bought your beginning course a few months ago and just bought the Autumn Bundle for later study. Are you planning further work on Nomad or are just going to concentrate on ZBrush?
Still a huge focus on mobile apps. I’ll be doing loads more Nomad this year. I’ve just finished on a big contract so I can spend time recording after my holiday next week.
And I WISH Nevercenter would make Silo for the iPad. It would be a dream come true!
