Some will never understand the depth and simplicity of this song. No effects just a band in the zone. When Dylan peels into the lead on the Fender Strat that's simply run thru a Fender Bassman Amp he turns that lead into a Godlike piece of music.
metelgear soft you do realise this is a Grammy performance and Is completely live the only thing edited about this video is the stage diver or the soybomb guy whose top is kicked away by bobs bass player Tony Garnier.
@@callan5903 this was played on stage for the grammys......and wat you think that thing hanging o ut the back of his guitar is? his fingers are on point with every note...if he was any more live he'd be a power pole.
Dylan's voice in '97 was incredible. So intense! Tony's grinning from ear to ear, and Bob goes into Chuck Berry mode when riffing out that solo. Fucking glorious.
@@judyheard6266 Someone said: "he's Charlie Chaplin...he's Dylan Thomas...he moves constantly...". I love his music so much. He's a peculiar artist and I feel that you can like him or not..and if you don't it's ok...I can understand. Though when you like him as much as I do he goes deep...so deep into your heart..beyond every possible imagination. That's how I feel his music.
If you only knew. This wasn’t Dylan on stage as a rock star banging out shopworn hits. This was simply Dylan being Dylan and you could take it or leave it. He wasn’t there to placate the crowd plodding through old standards. He was there to be Dylan and no apologies for it.
I was in love with this girl in college. It was a liberal arts college, mind you. Found the arts appreciation professor who seemed pretty well-versed with the tribulations of life and asked him to tell me more about love. He recommended reading Plato's Symposium, a poem by Yeats, and this song. This song takes me back to that summer night, that feeling of longing, and the hope of salvation. And that professor of course. God bless you Mr. Chaubey.
This such a moving rendition of this song I feel every word to my core and relate with Bob’s every vocal inflection and heart nuance of his delivery! He plays excellent lead guitar and seeing him with this great footage is an incredible gift! Thank you for uploading and sharing this gem! “Could you ever be true? I think of you and wonder... I don’t know what to do...”
How many times I've watched this astounded by Dylan's brilliant Lazarus type renaissance to reemerge as the greatest performer in modern times and enigmatic as ever I'm still blown away by the guitar solo which I only realised recently is him? Isn't it!? These concerts when his voice was still powerful were just brilliant and blew grunge out of the water! Not bad for an ageing folk artist who supposedly made a mistake going electric! Some people will never be satisfied and you can't please all of the people all of the time out of their minds!
I adore this man, as we all do. I love watching his face when he's doing his electric thing, with Eric, alone, or this band. He obviously loves what he's doing, I'm so happy he withstood all the "boo's" whenever he did electric. I don't remember what he was doing, and why they boo'd other than they wanted acoustic/harmonica. NOBODY loves that more than I do, but when I watch his face playing electric, it warms my soul. He ENJOYS it. Love and respect to you Mr. Dylan, he's actually just "Dylan" to me.
Anybody know what that second mic is? Looks like a harmonica mic but he doesn’t use it- and it can’t even be turned on because the feedback would be crazy, right?
That's what I wanted to see, I can't find the full song with Soy Bomb, I wanted friends to see how Bob never missed a beat when some nutcase out of nowhere shows up on stage next to him. He never misses a beat.
Yeah, this is strange that the soy bomb man isn't in it. Also, i read in the comments section of another video that shows the soy bomb guy that this guy (the commenter) was there at that performance and it didn't happen like that at all! He said that Bob Dylan had Soybomb written on himself! Frickin' weird weird. Maybe soybomb guy is a time traveler? That's what my mind immediately thought of when he wasn't in this video but that's just crazy old me.

The guitar's ain't even plugged in lol good tune but you do realise that this is a music video that's been editted right boy?

metelgear soft nah, it's live
Love this... (edits or no edits idc) glad to see this online again.

The dawn of Bob's late period wave of greatness.
Well said , could never pinpoint his so called prime , he has had several
I'm sick of a lot of things.
But I'm not sick of this song.
✌️😎
That guitar solo goes HARD
We are all fortunate to have lived at the same time as this man.
Dylan is taking you to another world here. He plays, sing....move you to tears with his music & voice. Cant' describe it, what a song!!!
He would probably disagree, but Bob was unique. There is nobody like Bob.
It's groovy baby.
✌️😎🥃
what a solo!!!
the whole band gets on fire when Bob does it.
Listen to the emotion in his voice
And the clouds are weeping GENIUS.
I still listening to this in 2019.
I don't care if it is old.
😎👍
We still listen to Bach and Beethoven. We still read Shakespeare and Robert Burns. Great Art is timeless.

Incredible performance from Bob!!!! Thank you so much for editing out the moron stage crasher!
awesome song Bob, thanks
Un chef d'œuvre ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dylan was amazing live in the late 90's, early 2000's.
This is why he is the poet of a generation
One of my favorite songs by Bob. Amazing live performance.
This sounds just gorgeous ... Bob, the whole band ... Every damn thing !!!
Every regular and less regular notes from D major... what a production.. fabulous.
He brought the house down!!! Incredible performance
In a word :
التبوريشة
Fantastic creation, lyrically and musically.
Speechless.

Brilliant performance,, touches my soul
Just love this song,, ❤❤❤
I'm sick of love
I'm tryin to forget you
Just don't know what to do
I'd give anything to be with you.

Great music never grows old...it just becomes more appreciated and really cherished for the artists talents.

brilliant performance and song...
If I have to choose one writer, poet and singer, without a doubt Bob Dylan is the one
And if you had to choose no one who would you choose?
That's simple, must be you!
never realized how smooth of an edit this was
I must have watched the solo a thousand times by now…
🎼🎹💫🌹
Absolutely magic.Genius.
Hypnotic rhythm and words, great guitar solo by Bob, and the dancing in the background adds to the feeling.
Fantastic performance!
Heerlijk nummer. Lovely song. A friend of mine and myself had to laugh so hard... "Oh... i'm sick of love!" Bob Dylan, a source of laughter. Cool :)
Outrageous performance--Blown Away! BD's A-mazing.
Best of the Best!!👏👏
Such a perfect song.... Jeeezzz. Genius.

The Larry Campbell years were awesome!
Amazing! What a band!
Always,forever the same old emotion!
Magnífico solo de guitarra mi Bob! 2:00
Quando dylan smette di fare il cantastorie e si inserisce nel campo del rock più nobile e genuino.
It's hard to find this performance... thanks!
Matthew Trask This was taken down for a long time much to my dismay! But, now it’s back and I’m happy again!
❤Bob n mick duet😊
Better than the recording on the album
They usually are. This is good too though
Agreed
Es ist tatsächlich so, dass ich gerade an DIESEM Lied unsere Seelenverwandtschaft erkannt habe!
I feel you Bob!!
👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻
Dylan keeps getting better and better at being himself.
Und es ist, obwohl dunkel, ein wunderschönes Liebeslied!
Amazing!
I love Dylan’s solo!

I'd like to add that it is a scandal this iconic performance is not available in higher resolution.
Just to think he did this amazing set while a naked guy was dancing beside him it's so sick! But that solo...

Velho Dylan ! Tens que voltar ao Brasil e quero te ver novamente caminhando na av Copacabana.
That solo....Jumbo Jet take off....
Fantastc performance but difficult to find this bonus DVD track from Modern Times album online
Bob!
Dylan is always so fucking elegant it makes me wonder if he's not a jazz player instead of a blues performer.
Me too
Eine ganz schön verrückte Geschichte.

I saw Bob about a week before this happened
Hello
Song of Songs 5:8...
Who are all those people backstage? Where is it? Pretty generous, risky to have all those people there?
why did you cut the SOY BOMB?
That's what I wanted to see, I can't find the full song with Soy Bomb, I wanted friends to see how Bob never missed a beat when some nutcase out of nowhere shows up on stage next to him. He never misses a beat.
