The greatest songwriter of all time sings 2 rather obscure covers, 2 brand new songs off of Empire Burlesque, and only one "classic Dylan song". And I love every second. Bob is the best. He does what he wants.
Bob is on the good stuff -nothing but good energy and soul - He is on top of the game here :). Love this iteration of Bob . And no better backing band on planet earth than heartbreakers
Back in the 70/80's these epic concert events used to be mostly reported via small pictures accompanying written articles found within rock magazines. We all had to use our musical imaginations to envision these shows. The internet has certainly been very kind to all of us classic Dylan lovers.
I started drinking around noon that day and blacked out before the concert came on TV. My girlfriend hated Dylan and didn't wake me up! It has been more than 35 years but I have finally seen the set at Farm Aid!
I'll remember you, the deepest melancholia ballad kind of song and so beautiful 🎉taps into our own personal experiences of melancholia and the blues 💙 🎶 great album of music empire burlesque
great concert. love the songs from the Empire Burlesque album. back up singers stole the show. love I'll remember you when I am in the great unknown and a beautiful melancholia ballad💙Willie Nelson's 1985 farm Aid was amazing!
Spectacular. Thanks for posting. I heard this live over the radio at the time, taped it, and said to myself, Dang! They are on fire! Dylan is back! Youl could hear the joy coming over the radio! I also said , Man, that is his backing band!
This isn't Bob Dylan and friends. This is Bob Dylan with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and there is Willie Nelson playing behind Dylan. There are some interesting duets with his future mother-in-law Madelyn Quebec in I'll Remember You and Trust Yourself. She is the mother to Carolyn Dennis who gave birth to Dylan's daughter in January 1986, he married her in June 1986. Carolyn Dennis is the backup singer in the striped blouse in this September 1985 performance. You can tell that Ms Dennis is around five months pregnant.
How i love this..love this times in his 80is recordings ..and all his record is soooo great..love all...saw him in 2022 i Copehagen..he blow my mind ..was just soooooo good ..
I have been supporting from aid since college in 1985. I see there is a new concert from 2023 I cannot wait to watch! I am doing a musical history memory Lane right project right now. That is where my computer programming mind cuts in, but then I've got music going on the other side so my brain is a party and business all at the same time so that is what this page is about or maybe come we shall see! 🎉😂❤
@@Anthony-hu3rj Bloomfield is great on that version, but I think it's underdeveloped and just thrown together quickly. Other electric versions didn't work live either in 65. Listen to it aint me babe. Dylan didn't get his live electric sound together until 66, which is probably the greatest rock music ever made.
Wow just been watching this fantastic concert BOB and his band mate's out standing always nice to see Tom petty play with BOB thank you I never get tired of seeing this concert
Around this time, Dylan and the Heartbreakers recorded the title track for a movie called Band Of The Hand. And after seeing the positive response to this performance here at Farm Aid, the next summer they embarked on The True Confessions Tour. I saw it and it was great.
Great to see this, sharing the mic with his soon to be second wife, Carolyn Dennis, who is carrying their child together, Desiree (born in January 1986)
Kids. This is what it's like to go to a concert, to be in the moment, not talking crap to your friends and pointing phones in the air all night. Today's world sucks.
"Dylan joins Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers (who have just concluded their own set) on stage. Together they launch straight into “Clean-Cut Kid” followed by a blues song called “Shake,” seemingly a Dylan lyric set to the rune of Roy Head’s “Treat Her Right.” Then comes the live debuts of two Empire Burlesque songs, “I’ll Remember You” and “Trust Yourself,” both of which have Dylan dueting with Madelyn Quebec, who is clearly struggling to keep up with his idiosyncratic phrasing. A searing version of “That Lucky 0l’ Sun” follows, before Willie Nelson joins them on guitar for a romp through the highly appropriate “Maggie’s Farm.” Although the American TV broadcast, courtesy of the Nashville Network, manages to omit the first and fifth songs and cut the second, the excitement of the performance comes across, reaffirming Dylan’s power in concert after the very public disaster at “Live Aid ” The buzz from the concert is enough for him to suggest a more longterm collaboration with the Heartbreakers. " ~Clinton Heylin (Bob Dylan: A Life in Stolen Moments Day by Day 1941-1995)
Absolutely- although the bar was set incredibly low with his Live Aid debacle. That was such a disappointment after the whole day leading up to him- felt so let down
I read where he was seen after 10 years (lol ??) running errands and wearing a wedding ring Has he remarried? So nice seeing him smile, better times I guess
I love Bob Dylan. I grew up in sixties with Bob Dylan. Have seen him in concert at least 20 times.❤
damn!.....Bob looks genuinely happy!!😄....this is great!!!

Perfectly put
Il a toujours fait ce qu'il veut et c'est vachement bien !
Always loved this performance of "I Remember You".
This 1985 Farm Aid concert recording is 1,000 times better quality than the 2023 recordings online today. Tnx, muchly for posting

Funny thing is, the critics in the 80s were called Dylan old, used up,a sell out and past his prime

this is Dylan's friends and family then...,, and thanks for the info, I was wondering who the lady on the duet was...
Interesting what you said

Just Incredibil capacity Bob to remember all those lines ? Tunes ? How the hell is possible?
I was there - about 20 feet from the front of the stage.
Thats awsome.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers: Not only great in their own right but also acted as the backing band for legends Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash.
One of the best Bands in History of music, I miss the Great Tom Petty

nice "Aqualung" ending on Maggie's Farm

The legend that is Willie Nelson looks so out of place here.

They should do a Farm Aid for the farmers next time. Not for Bob's gardeners and landscapers.
