I think folks are prisoners of the moment. BGS will be back. They are a very good grader and have the best slabs. I think BGS w sub grades is currently a sneaky buy!!!
You know what doesn't get a lot of love? SGC? I love their slabs in vintage baseball. I can understand how they don't translate well to modern, but I think SGC does real well with vintage baseball. Also, the black and white makes the card look like it's dressed in a tuxedo :) Secondly, what do you suggest doing with vintage cards that are a little more arbitrary with grading? I have a 1986 Fleer MJ as a BGS 7, but I want to go over to PSA. Is that too risky to crack and re submit? Or should I use the crossover service?
In a related note, I've noticed when crossing over vintage from BGS/BVG to PSA the grades typically slide....I think Beckett historically over graded the vintage, so buyer beware.
I like your content Scottie. We sent bunch of cards to psa. So I had 2 justin field same condition. One came back 9 and a 10. But been sending hga 9 and 9.5 and getting 10s back.
I do love my crack and resub videos. I have a bunch of slabs that I feel could grade up if I cracked them and sent them to PSA. But those are cards I dont feel like selling anytime soon, lol or at all. Regrading will always be there. If it's not a card you wish to all right away. I just don't feel the need to switch holders. Lol .....but if you make more of these videos, I will watch them.
I’ve been considering cracking a few BGS slabs myself. The only thing holding me back is the possibility that BGS makes a comeback in the hobby. I’ve noticed that a ton of the things that were popular in the pandemic boom are starting to fade back towards the traditional hobby ways. I’m glad. There were some insane things happing that made no sense to collectors with decades in the hobby. At the peak, I remember seeing PSA 10 base Topps RCs selling for more in some cases than BGS 9.5 Bowman Chrome 1st autos. Made absolutely no sense.
It’s the basic supply and demand problem at play. Pandemic hits = people stuck indoors - find old/new hobbies - demand skyrockets because people have a ton of spare time - prices go up. Pandemic ends and people return to their old hobbies - the ones that stay repopulate the supply by getting cards graded/buying and selling online. Prices tank because supply is up and demand is lower than 2020. It’s not just cards, stocks are down, entertainment is down and inflation is high (partially paying for the pandemic). It’s a good time to be in the hobby tbh, prices got stupid for no reason and dozens of YT channels popped up claiming to be mega collectors the whole time when they hadn’t been. The real surge was after Logan Paul’s PR on a Charizard card - where’s he now?
There r so many new rookies and a new wave of prospects, I'm already looking at!last yr was thec1st yr I actually watched MLB, learned alot! Keep bringing it! Thanks
The loss of BGS market shares is very concerning. From the data I've seen the last year they're struggling to compete with CGC on sports cards?! PSA & SGC are leaving them in the dust.
I agree. I've been collecting off and on since the early 80's (I'm old). Bgs was ALWAYS the big dog on the field. I wasn't really collecting for a few years and when I "got back in" in late 2019 I saw psa everywhere. Not sure what happened but psa seems to be the 1st choice for everyone now
Agree with a lot of this. Like BGS slabs better- sturdier. Subgrades are also nice. BGS has gone downhill for a lot of reasons. 1. Their advent of the BCCG and BVG brands in effect creates 3 different grading standards which leads to confusion (and perhaps inconsistency). 2. The Pristine fiascos they've dealt with and possible payola to certain vendors. 3. Their lack of presence in the marketplace (as you said). I've cracked 4 BGS cards to submit and not one of them came back as high as PSA. 2-9.5's, an 8.5, and a 9. They came back a 9, a 5.5 and a 9. The other one? MIN SIZE. I'm at a point now where I don't trust BGS slabs or standards.
I enjoy BGS and the slabs. I’m not a flipper so if I can get a card cheaper, I’ll buy in BGS. PSA is a favorite because they are super liberal with 10s-especially in the 90s.
same! csg accurate n consistent with an awesome slab, hopefully they will make some power moves to in years to come and take a big chunk of psa's market share
Do you think pujols rookies are undervalued ive seen some low 🤔 and which cards do you recommend to buy even non rookie but raw rookie which ones numbered foil one of 2001 that metallic one u had in your hands seems low valued compared yo what hes done?
Based on the serial numbers on the BGS labels the Votto was graded in March 2022 and the Trout in September 2019. Have you tried cracking older BGS slabs and sending to PSA? I have 2 BGS slabs from December 2000 with subgrades and they are the only 2 BGS slabs in my pc, the rest are all PSA. Might be a cool video to try this with older BGS slabs to compare how tough or easy BGS was grading 20 years ago compared to present day PSA. Who knows it may be a sneaky play?
For me, and I feel others as well, Beckett has left a sour taste in our mouths when it comes to their services. I say this in regards to their outrageous prices for pricing guide books and the absolute requirement for online membership to be purchased. I understand that they are a business trying to make money, but I’ve never found that the financial return to the customer to be viable for them.
I think of you as more of a collector than investor though I know they are one in the same for most of us. But in this video you go against what most collectors believe in. Buy the card not the grade or in this case the grader. I personally would rather have the Trout in that True Gem slab. A PSA 9 is basically an average or common grade for most modern cards. 10 or 20 years from now will PSA still be the leader? Where as a Gem Mint is a Gem Mint regardless if its PSA, Beckett or SGC. Companies that are regarded as leaders in the grading world. I do appreciate your transparency as always!
What about a card that is a pop 12 in a bgs 9.5 with none graded higher, is that worth a hold to see if BGS makes a come back? BGS 8-10 slabs are my favorite, I've always liked the inner sleeve and feel it is really protecting the card more.
Scottie, would you not consider just submitting cards like that still in slab to PSA for crossover? If not trying to get a bump in the grade it seems to be worth doing. I sent 3 BGS 9.5s with attempt to get 10s and got 1/3. PSA will allow you to set a minimum grade you will accept, and they do not crack your slab if they do not meet your criteria.
Not true, unless they have updated their practices. A few years ago, PSA mentioned that they had to crack the card out of it's holder to accurately assess the cards; that's where the risk factor kicked in; I kept my cards in the slabs...
@@robdemare8250 Right, but if you specify the minimum grade you’ll accept for crossover they will not crack it if they cannot assign that grade from assessing card in the slab. If a minimum grade is not requested then they will crack it and you get what you get
As you said, that’s the way the cookie crumbles when cracking and resubmitting. Curious if you’ve done it with SGC and what your experience was; for me personally I’ve had several cards that I’ve cracked that were SCC 9.5s or 10s and resubmitted to PSA with a mixed bag of results
@@KyboneI would say with almost certainty that all the SGC 9s I crossed to PSA got 9s. About 35% of the 9.5s got a bump to a 10, the other 65% got the PSA 9. And among the SGC 10s I crossed, about half crossed over to a PSA 10, the other half got a PSA 9. And as far as sample size goes, it was about 15 cards total.
Question...which would sell for more the Trout true gem u broke out or the PSA 9 newly slabbed? And do you regret not trying to straight crossover the Trout first?
The BGS 9.5 currently sells for more at around 800-1000 the psa 9 goes for around 650-700. I thought about trying to straight crossover it at first, but the odds of success on those are so low that I wanted to try it this way. This was just a test run for if I wanted to do it again.
@@scottiebcards2354 I've opted for crossover to at least give me a shot at not losing my value of a true gem vs. psa 9 ~ I have gotten the rejection and then cracked it out to get the PSA 10 as well. (in that case it took like 6 months) ~ I get your way of thinking though.... its tragic to think PSA would intentionally disrespect the BGS true gem enough to just reject it without judging the cards merits.... IF that occurs which many believe does.
I'm sticking with BGS. In the long term, subgrades will matter. In the long term, thick sturdy slabs will matter, In the long term, people will understand why BGS color code thier grades. " Gold is king" In the long term, people will realize a BGS 9.5 is almost just as equal to a PSA 10, because it's actuality HARDER to get a BGS 10 than it is to get a PSA 10. " Black Label is King" Only reason PSA is popular is because all the "newbies" that came into the hobby in 2019-20 were sheep following the masses, which is why many lost some value in thier cards. Sheep do sheep things.
Thank God there is someone who thinks along the lines as I do. PSA is junk t me. As a side note CSG is probably going to be the grading company to get into. They have made drastic changes to their company and they will be a strong force to be reckoned with in the future.
I have absolutely no love or affiliation for/with PSA. I believe they are probably the most corrupt grading company out there. They cater to their “Sheeple” as that one guy says a few comments before me. CSG is a grading company to get into. They are going to be making some noise in the very near future if they haven’t already. Everyone makes pointless comments about the “other” grading companies slabs. Yep, PSA is the king of all kings when it comes to having the ugliest slabs in the market. White sticker with a touch of Red and Black lettering, so beautiful that it makes the cards value increase 10 fold. They are not UV resistant, the cards flop around inside the slab and their grading is horrendous, yep all the more reason why they are the best!! Time for PSA to go down, just like that bank in Commifornia!!
BGS fell victim to the same thing that happened to American cars in the 80's. The American auto companies just assumed that people would continue to buy their vehicles. So they did little upgrade quality, models, options, etc. Then the foreign auto makers caught up, however now American made vehicles have regained a strong foothold in the market. BGS will get back on track.
Buy the card not the slab is my opinion. It’s the same with graded coins. I personally like BGS and SGC over PSA. Too many OC cards with a PSA 10. People only like them because it’s easier to get 10’s IMO.
It's a good thing I watch u alot u do have some good points all the time ! Just got back into sport cards 2yrs ago! But I have seen alot of crap coming from PSA! Meaning alot of really low grades, that just don't make sense! All these companies don't have a reg -standard for grading cards!:why not do photo grading like PCGS? I'm also big in collecting rare coins!:cards coins been in it over 30 yrs, thanks, keep up the good work! Now I have to watch the video a over again!
My question is why “crack” the true gem BGS case and not just send the whole thing to PSA and let them exam the card with you setting the minimum grade at a 10? I get the thought that you don’t want to influence the grader(“fresh eyes”) but it really goes both ways. It also influences the grader too lean towards a 10 grade if it’s at least a True Gem. I sent a Trout true gem BGS RC 9.5 in the slab with minimum grade set at a 10 and got a PSA 10 back. I currently have 3 True Gem BGS cards I’m going to send to PSA in the slabs and take my chances as the cards all look perfect to me. I also think the card community underestimates the fact that PSA WANTS THE POP COUNT CONTROL. It’s in there best interest to have the 10’s in their Pop not BGS. Thoughts??
I did that twice because I had the same rationale as you did....twice the card got returned as min grade. I cracked out both and sent back to PSA...both came back 10s. I know different graders have different criteria, but I think if PSA converts too many BGS 9.5s to PSA 10s, they're essentially saying those grades are equal which I'm sure PSA doesn't believe so. Also, I have a bunch of big cards that I would love to cross, but because of PSAs value tiers, it would cost over a 1000 dollars to do each one, way too risky for me.
Totally agree with this, especially when you're working with BGS 9.5 true gem mint. I've had BGS 9's come back as 8's and but the only times I've sent in the 9.5s, they've come back as a 10, provided all the subgrades were also 9.5's. I also don't like cracking the cards myself. I just do the cross-over. As long as I feel confident that the card has a near flawless look and is correctly assessed by BGS, I see no reason why PSA would want to downgrade it to "control the population". All this conjecture about PSA doing population control is just sour grapes because their cards didn't grade out at a 10. There is no conspiracy here, they're just grading the cards. Are they holding a higher standard today? Perhaps. Is it difficult to tell the difference between a 9 and 10? Yes. Does it matter to collectors? Probably not. Does it matter to investors and flippers and dealers? Hell yes. But a 10 has to be scarce and difficult, otherwise, every card would be a Gem Mint 10, and then why bother even grading cards. For me, it's about being able to protect my collection and enjoy showing my cards off. But who doesn't love a PSA 10 right?
I wouldnt crack a jordan or brady bgs true gem n send to psa, I dont think its a conspiracy I think the graders themselves are collectors and they try to control pop on those 2 players for the most part especially Jordan.. psa crushes highend jordans!! however with other players sending them with the 10 minimum grade is a good idea
I think BGS 10 is still a more valuable and important card, but just like BGS 9.5 losing value compared to a PSA 10, we are starting to see the gap between BGS 10 and PSA 10 shrink as well. I still would go with the BGS 10 myself!
If you're (not you specifically Scottie, just in general) not going to sell cards in your PC anytime soon, why have them graded at all? Why not wait until the time possibly comes and then go with the 'hot hand' grader? Especially those PSA slabs. Seems like a penny sleeve/toploader/team bag would offer more actual real time protection especially when it comes to card movement. Thanks Scottie B love the channel 🤘
I would have preferred the BGS 9.5. Unless you need to sell right away, you shouldn't care about what people are paying more for right now. What's more important is the actual condition of the card. In a few years, sentiment can change again. It happens with coins with PCGS and NGC.
Shakes PSA slab and card moves 1mm (hope I didn't just make that a PSA 9) lmao you'd have to shake a PSA slab incredibly hard to do any sort of damage to a card with that amount of damage. That aside, the only thing I dislike about BGS is that they put the cards into a full sleeve so the light reflects off the plastic sleeve instead of the card's surface like with a PSA slab.
I don't need to imagine... I lived it 😉. You win some and you lose some. The crazy part is the value between a PSA 9 and BGS 9.5 isn't as big as it used to be so I do not feel too bad. Thanks for watching.
I have a Trout Topps Finest 2011 BGS true gem with 10 corners. I would LOVE to cross it over to a possible PSA 10 but I really don't want to crack it. I like the BGS slab but the value disparity between a true gem vs PSA 10 is astonishing. Is it wrong to send it in it's current BGS slab for a possible crossover? I really don't want a PSA 9. I was planning on using their regular 10 day turnaround service ($75) or is the $40 (20 day turnaround) ok? Thanks
i dont think its worth it to crack your true gem, Psa is so unpredictable its not a guarenteed psa 10 at all unless ya plan on selling it soon and trying to get top value but its a 3-$400 card your not gonna gain or lose that much after shipping n grading fees just my opinion
If you send it in to PSA and set the minimum grade at a 10 then they’ll either give it a PSA 10 or send you back the card in the BGS holder. You’re just out the grading fee but would still retain the exact card you sent in. Not sure about current crossover pricing as they’ve lowered the declared max value price to $500.
@@jazzkidjk the minimum grade is a good feature but your still out your true gem, if thats the case your next best move would be to resend to psa untill it comes back a 10
I would never crack a BGS 9.5; the problem with the industry is that "new" collectors think that PSA 10's are the be all...they're not..Don't worry Beckett isn't going out of business, and their standards are tough! Cracking is nothing but a waste of money, because sometimes the cracking goes SOUTH...
I thought BGS was like pcgs and PSA was like ngc! I had to send my Tiger woods card back twice and psa charged me over 500 bucks, I think they suck but I do keep buying psa 10S ! Just picked up Cade Cunningham R Auto PSA-10.!Good luck!
Been in this business since before psa was a thought. I can't recall any time bgs 9.5s were even selling close to psa 10 prices. Bgs pristine ( not black labels) were having a hard time selling for psa 10 prices
Bgs sub grades...love that, hate PSA and their complete randomness with no justification on why. I submitted 4 Byfield young guns, 2 were 10, 2 were 8 with almost minimal differences, i was tlat least expecting 9s as they had sharp corners etc I wouldnt buy anything PSA that doesnt start with at least a 5 either. Its crazy seeing some of the older stuff having a grade of 9 while a card in better shape now gets a 7 (eg Gretzky rookie)
Yeah, I think sending in BGS 9.5's to PSA is a mistake. That's a losing proposition all day long. But I'm fine with someone sending in a BGS 9 or 8 or lower.
Unfortunately, in my personal experience with the older cards, not ultramodern, especially in the goats like Mike Trout, you’re gonna have a really hard time getting a 10 PSA likes to protect the pop
@@Jacob_Spang Thats maybe their biggest competitor but the threat is having 20 other grading companies that take the space seriously now. Turnaround time and price are still horrific and if the OP is right and theyre just safeguarding 10s even if the cards a 10, its terrible. I only buy PSA because it holds value best but i like SGC better as a company.
It's not just that Beckett has failed to keep up with competitors since the pandemic boom, but, the quality of their services has deteriorated in a big way in recent years. Might not be obvious since you only collect baseball, but, in soccer, they have graded so many beyond obviously trimmed high-value stickers as well as let through numerous outright counterfeits/fakes (e.g., the 2002 Panini Cristiano Ronaldo rookie sticker). Also, there have been far too many examples of blatant BGS overgrading the past few years - they are simply not running the tight ship that they used to. I recently traded away an F1 card that had been folded in half that I was sure would be a PSA 1 max (it was so bad that I thought it might even only get a PSA Auth designation). The guy I traded it to submitted it to BGS and it got...a 3.5!!! Absolutely absurd. I will still use BGS for autograph and thick cards because I like how they feel & display in the hefty cases, but, for everything else, I have switched over to other grading companies where I have more confidence in the grading.
It feels like PSA has been stingier on their grades lately. I saw a video of a guy who cracked and resubmitted a bunch of PSA 9's and like 60% of them came back 10's. 🤷♂
It is all about who grades your cards that day. Since they are human graders there will be human error. I bet if I submitted that Trout 3 more times at least one time it would come back a 10. Thanks for watching!
@@scottiebcards2354 Thats great but there needs to be a standard. Ya cant have all your different employees looking at the same thing and literally crushing financials for people. This is known as quality control. Businesses have to deal with it all the time.... however in this hobby youre stuck with that grade. Im sorry but this company is such a scam and i own tons of psa graded cards and use them.... but its because thats what the hobby has to offer if ya care ab the financial side.
@@nicklazzaro5055 other grading companies have quality control issues. Other grading companies don’t have the same person looking at the same cards each time. PSA just has more visibility because they grade 10-20x what other companies do.
@@arynnelson371 well actually companies likes BGS at least has 4 grades on the card. Then theres another company called Transparent that gives you a grade and sends you to their website with a qr code on the slab. On the website they have scans of your card and notes, highlights the issues on the card, and shows you the centering against a 100% background. The problem is the hobby (me included) hang on to companies like PSA for value
@@scottiebcards2354 i seen a guy crack 20 csg cards and sub them back to csg as an experiment and came back exactly the same!!! i think one or 2 cards were .5 off but that is consistent grading! Psa is bullshit
@@arynnelson371 bgs 10's are not impossible the black is 😬 but my group submitter out of a 50 card sub we get a couple 10's , (subhubgrading) he has a youtube channel
I think what you said at the start of the video covered it well, if there is upside in another slab, it makes sense to do that. I just cracked a PSA 8 Mookie Betts 1st Bowman Blue Refractor auto and it crossed to a BGS 9, .5 off a 9.5. Market value on the 9 is definitely greater than the 8 so the upside was there and it paid off. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose but its a risk worth taking
Eventually, people are going to wise up to the scam PSA has been. They reward people who submit 1000's with higher grades, plain and simple. I can't tell you how many PSA 10's I've seen on Ebay where the centering is crap or the edges clearly are chipped. I'd rather have subgrades, where I can prove, everything about the card is MINT. I'd rather a BGS with 9 or higher subgrades than a suspect PSA 10. Plus I like the BGS case better.
cut top right corner with a pair of dykes or cutters, stick a big screwdriver in across the flip and lift up n twist, that should do it! bgs has cards come in a sleeve so tap card to bottom of sleeve and cut across the top with scissors! your goal is to crack in 2 big pieces avoid cracking little pieces
Never. PSA has more population of 10s than BGS in any trading card catagory. Remember BGS gem mint is 9.5 and PSA is a 10. If anything id ne tripple checking your PSA 10S and send them off to BGS in hopes of that pristine 10 or unicorn black lable.
LOL have you seen Peloton stock since the pandemic sales euphoria wore off. It's an expensive stationary bike. PSA has so many issues, ugly slabs but has most drinking the kool-aid
Bgs doesn't need to do anything because they are the strictest grading company because they give you a 4-tier breakdown on why the card got this grade. The only reason why PSA is king is because of celebrities and infulencers also they give out 10's easier then bgs. You can find tons of PSA 10 that are not 10. Where as bgs gives you an accurate grade and just about 99% of the time a bgs grade is legit. A bgs 10 will outsell a psa 10 all day long. Bgs have another level with a black label 10 and those are priceless. True collectors want BGS. A BGS 9.5 is gem mint just like a PSA 10 is gem mint. so why would a PSA 10 sell for a lot more when both cards are gem mint? People either don't know the difference or there just fanboys of PSA or they want the 10 whereas BGS is harder to get a 10.
BGS is by far the superior grader. Too many PSA 10's out there that are obviously off center. The reason the "market" prefers PSA 10's over BGS 9.5's is because the market cannot realize that PSA 10 = BGS 9.5. Toss is the historical drama of doctored/altered/trimmed cards to get higher grades and there should be NO reason PSA is considered the top grading company. Oh yeah, they are owned by the same company that bought Goldin Auctions.......conflict of interest? I would say so. This is the reality we are in. Human's determine the market and we know human's are generally not very bright. Everyone has their preference and is entitled to their opinion (which I am doing as well). If I am shopping for graded cards, I will go SGC or BVG for Vintage. I prefer BGS for modern cards. I won't even send in a prospect or rookie card to get graded until they are established. I learned that lesson with a few "can't miss" prospects. Someday, I hope human's will realize true data, but then again, the movie Idocracy is becoming more reality as each day passes. I better start buying up stock in Gatorade.....
Way too much talk. Just get to the point. No need to cover the PSA regrades. Just get to the point. It’s like the equivalent of someone hyping up and adding so much backstory to a question you asked and you just want a simple answer and none of the extra nonsense.

I think sgc is already grading more than bgs in sports cards.
I really do like the look of SGC slabs.
I like the look of sgc slabs the best. Maybe a unpopular opinion. Great video though!
Some of my biggest ROIs have been cracking HGA & BGS cards that were undergraded IMO (and I was right) and sending them to SGC
I'd rather try and crossover to PSA. I've had a 33% success rate crossing over BGS 9.5s to PSA 10s.
depends on who the grader is. Been cracking BGS for 12 years and sending to PSA

I agree with you that the BGS slabs and flips are way way better. It's too bad they've lost so much market share.
The loss of BGS market shares is very concerning. From the data I've seen the last year they're struggling to compete with CGC on sports cards?! PSA & SGC are leaving them in the dust.
You mean csg
I agree. I've been collecting off and on since the early 80's (I'm old). Bgs was ALWAYS the big dog on the field. I wasn't really collecting for a few years and when I "got back in" in late 2019 I saw psa everywhere. Not sure what happened but psa seems to be the 1st choice for everyone now
Nice work. Thanks for sharing these tactics. Always looking for something that helps.

I kinda love the different colored BGS labels.
I enjoy BGS and the slabs. I’m not a flipper so if I can get a card cheaper, I’ll buy in BGS. PSA is a favorite because they are super liberal with 10s-especially in the 90s.
I’ll take BGS over PSA any day. My wallet thanks me. Also, the BGS slab looks better
I like CSG (I am bias). However, you can't deny that PSA has the market share.
same! csg accurate n consistent with an awesome slab, hopefully they will make some power moves to in years to come and take a big chunk of psa's market share
Any info on cracking a numbered card to resubmit? Won’t they have a record of it?
Do you think pujols rookies are undervalued ive seen some low 🤔 and which cards do you recommend to buy even non rookie but raw rookie which ones numbered foil one of 2001 that metallic one u had in your hands seems low valued compared yo what hes done?
First time viewer here! Great content dude and you’re funny too lol
If I purchase a slabbed card, it's always bgs. I love how my Probert auto rookie looks in it, and it went from there. Have a great day everybody!
When sending PSA crossover - does PSA crack the cards or does the client have too?
Any takeaways?
That Votto is sick!! You got it so cheap my LCS has it for $2k
I'm sticking with BGS. In the long term, subgrades will matter.
In the long term, thick sturdy slabs will matter,
In the long term, people will understand why BGS color code thier grades. " Gold is king"
In the long term, people will realize a BGS 9.5 is almost just as equal to a PSA 10, because it's actuality HARDER to get a BGS 10 than it is to get a PSA 10. " Black Label is King"
Only reason PSA is popular is because all the "newbies" that came into the hobby in 2019-20 were sheep following the masses, which is why many lost some value in thier cards.
I wonder what SGC 10s grade at.
Buy the card not the slab is my opinion. It’s the same with graded coins. I personally like BGS and SGC over PSA. Too many OC cards with a PSA 10. People only like them because it’s easier to get 10’s IMO.
that’s a huge L! I completely disagree on PSA! BGS 9.5 is way better, holy moly dude. Just Atrocious returns
Well from my understanding if you had autos U sent it to Beckett but if it’s non auto then PSA.
Hi Scottie, have you ever cracked a numbered card graded by psa (9) and try to resubmit to shoot for a psa 10? Thoughts please 🙏🏼
You can resubmit !
How do you feel about sending a card in slab to psa for a reslab?
Hey scotty...what's your take on the BGS pristine 10...compared to the PSA 10..
I've had it pay off..on a few Monster cards. .have some 9.5s. Need to Crack again
So you went from a BGS 9.5 to PSA 9 and paid for the PSA service? I would definitely say you lost. 😢
PSA is obsessed with print lines
Imagine cracking out the BGS 9.5 Trout & seeing PSA 9 ALT. 💀
I don't need to imagine... I lived it 😉. You win some and you lose some. The crazy part is the value between a PSA 9 and BGS 9.5 isn't as big as it used to be so I do not feel too bad. Thanks for watching.
@@scottiebcards2354 crack it again, give it a micro wipe and a day in a no recess screw down, PSA loves that stuff 10's galore
@@jazzkidjk the minimum grade is a good feature but your still out your true gem, if thats the case your next best move would be to resend to psa untill it comes back a 10
you think psa will let me keep my bgs case if i do a crossover? LOL i rather them just stick the sticker on my bgs slab
10s are going to be hard to get now.
Source?
Bgs sub grades...love that, hate PSA and their complete randomness with no justification on why.
I submitted 4 Byfield young guns, 2 were 10, 2 were 8 with almost minimal differences, i was tlat least expecting 9s as they had sharp corners etc
I wouldnt buy anything PSA that doesnt start with at least a 5 either. Its crazy seeing some of the older stuff having a grade of 9 while a card in better shape now gets a 7 (eg Gretzky rookie)
ive never had a psa card move in the slab, sgc i have tho.
Yeah just like Peloton in the exercise space....... or Blue Bell in the ice cream space 😅
Yeah, I think sending in BGS 9.5's to PSA is a mistake. That's a losing proposition all day long. But I'm fine with someone sending in a BGS 9 or 8 or lower.
psa is watching now
Yeah feels like PSA has gotten sloppy in their haste to grade everything
Nice to see a young guy..who knows what he's talking about...
I will subscribe.
Well done.
Love you videos I’m sub grade kinda guy I like to know where the flaws of the card are thanks
Ya, it's #/ 99 pdc250.00! His cards r rocking!
Random comment just to help support the channel.
BGS has never been better than PSA
Unfortunately, in my personal experience with the older cards, not ultramodern, especially in the goats like Mike Trout, you’re gonna have a really hard time getting a 10 PSA likes to protect the pop
Exactly why theyre in hot water right now and the hobby is looking for alternatives. JUST. GRADE. THE. CARDS.
@@nicklazzaro5055 your comment aged well lol
@@Jacob_Spang what aged poorly ab it? I didnt say use beckett
@@nicklazzaro5055 you said they were in hot water. They just broke all the sub records. All the while one of their big threats self imploded.
Im sorry but this company is such a scam and i own tons of psa graded cards and use them.... but its because thats what the hobby has to offer if ya care ab the financial side.

good stuff brother, hope you collect other sports other than baseball bc im no fan of it. thanks
Rough getting a 9 like that on trout
I think what you said at the start of the video covered it well, if there is upside in another slab, it makes sense to do that. I just cracked a PSA 8 Mookie Betts 1st Bowman Blue Refractor auto and it crossed to a BGS 9, .5 off a 9.5. Market value on the 9 is definitely greater than the 8 so the upside was there and it paid off. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose but its a risk worth taking
Wow, that is awesome! Congrats. If you are interested in trading the Betts please let me know as I would love to move into a blue 😀
I like how you let us know that a 9 is .5 away from a 9.5 How far away is a 9 from a 10?
Eventually, people are going to wise up to the scam PSA has been. They reward people who submit 1000's with higher grades, plain and simple. I can't tell you how many PSA 10's I've seen on Ebay where the centering is crap or the edges clearly are chipped. I'd rather have subgrades, where I can prove, everything about the card is MINT. I'd rather a BGS with 9 or higher subgrades than a suspect PSA 10. Plus I like the BGS case better.
Do vid on how to crack a slab
cut top right corner with a pair of dykes or cutters, stick a big screwdriver in across the flip and lift up n twist, that should do it! bgs has cards come in a sleeve so tap card to bottom of sleeve and cut across the top with scissors! your goal is to crack in 2 big pieces avoid cracking little pieces
That Joey WILL go up again NOW.... he is sitting on the Toronto Blue Jays bench now in spring training!
If you're not selling why put in ugly PSA slab? Thanks ⚾️⚾️🥳🥳
Thats too bad i love the bgs labels
Now i cant stop noticing your hairy hands. Thanks for that last video. lol
Yes, because if you submit a 7 enough times you will get a 10
Your PSA 9 PSA 10 Trout story is why I don't like PSA. Far too inconsistent
bgs 9.5 to a psa 9 idk bout that..
Isn't a PSA 9 worth less than a BGS 9.5? You devalued your card.
Yes big time almost half 😂
Sipes Corners
Joey votto HOF 🤔
If these are BGS 9.5 GEM Mints, im gonna be pissed and dislike this video... its THIS practice that is dragging down BGS.
people made psa overrated and there is no consistency on their gradings
I would have rather sent it off to SGC, PSA is over priced garbage.
Way too much talk. Just get to the point. No need to cover the PSA regrades. Just get to the point. It’s like the equivalent of someone hyping up and adding so much backstory to a question you asked and you just want a simple answer and none of the extra nonsense.
Psa is trash I have no idea why people thought or think psa is so good? Lmao
