I really like the look of BGS, but a lot of people were saying PSA is the more desirable of the two. Your data put me at ease, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that my Wayne Gretzky auto comes back as a Black Label Pristine 10!
Most all of the PSA cards were older graded slabs, before PSA changed their grading criteria and got tougher. Especially to control population counts. Yes BGS 10's are tougher to get, cause they hand out the 9.5's. What is the difference between the PSA 10's and the BGS 9.5's with population counts. That is more apples to apples.
This doesnt quite make sense to me. Is beckett grading that much harder than psa? The smart man would buy up bunches of psa 10s, crack them and send them to beckett to see what happens. If people are spending that much more on a beckett 10, would be a good investment imo
Some collectors and investors believe that Beckett tends to be more stringent in their grading, resulting in fewer cards receiving top grades (e.g., BGS 10) compared to PSA's top grade (PSA 10). This perception can lead to higher premiums for Beckett-graded cards, especially in certain markets or for specific card types. Your idea of buying PSA 10 cards and then sending them to Beckett for grading could potentially yield BGS 10 grades and thus increase the value. However, it's worth noting that grading is subjective, and there's no guarantee that a card that received a PSA 10 grade would also receive a BGS 10 grade. Additionally, there are costs associated with cracking and regrading cards, so it's essential to consider whether the potential increase in value justifies the expense and effort.
No. Beckett has a higher Gem rate, but psa grades 18x more cards. 1.39 million vs 75k in August 24. There are more psa 10s because there are 18x more psa graded cards every month.
I'm SOOO confused. I used to be/work in the hobby. PSA was considered much more valuable than Beckett, which were devalued to the point that they would be broken and regraded by PSA.
BGS is obviously keeping their 10's at a lower pop . Their 9.5 pop reports are close to the PSA 10 pop reports on popular cards. And I'm sure the difference in condition on a 9.5 and a 10 is microscopic
#BOYCOTTPSA they offer no explanation as to why a card did not receive a ten, furthermore in their fine print they take no accountability for their graders. Too bad for you, steve was having a bad day. This is a major problem since they seem to set market price.
Great Video! I would rather have the PSA 10's over the BGS 10's. I mean BGS has the 9.5 grade with the gold label that is just as good as a 10 in my opinion. And then there's the whole black label 10, I mean really? I am sure i'm not alone.
Hmm, you might be in the minority on this one. Personally, I'd opt for a BGS 10 over a PSA 10 any day. The scarcity factor alone makes it more appealing, not to mention the consistent grading standards.
Since psa doesn't have a 9.5 grade , the psa 10 will have a larger pop just by default. There are very many cards in 10 slabs for psa that would never grade a 10 anywhere else ( or gem 9.5 bgs). This is a big problem if all things are considered equal. The issue arises because both psa fan boys and most investors are extremely bias or have zero clue about grade. Just by pure condition both a bgs 10 pristine and an sgc 10 pristine should outsell the average psa 10 by a large margin.
BGS 10 Black Label cards are earned by getting all four sub grades graded perfect 10. A BGS 10 Pristine has three sub grades as 10 and one as a 9.5. Hope this helps!
What do you mean by better...? I would say that a BGS 9.5 more often is going to be in better condition and have better centering than a PSA 10. I have PSA 10's that disgust me because the centering is to far off to be a 10, and many with a corner or 2 that are not worthy of their grade.
Dang I remember the days BGS was King now everyone seems to be choosing a PSA 10 over BGS 10. Unreal. I know you just showed examples of BGS being more valuable but I'm just talking modern cards.
It's true, preferences seem to be shifting, especially for modern cards. It's fascinating how market dynamics change over time. While BGS may have held the crown in the past, PSA's popularity has surged recently. Trends can be unpredictable, but they definitely keep things interesting in the hobby!
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR To me it just doesn't make sense lol. Why wouldn't people want to know subgrades of their cards. And I like that with BGS it's harder to get a 10. Keeps pop count lower. Slabs are better to me as well. 🤷 Oh well PSA it is

Over time, BGS will become irrelevant as PSA continues to own the market. I’d be moving my BGS cards and trying to get into PSA
BGS 10s aren't rare. They have a higher Gem rate than PSA. The difference is PSA is grading 18x the number of cards as Beckett. 1.39 million vs 75k in August '24. The big problem is the brainwashing the sportscard industry has subjected collectors to. Making everyone think only PSA and Becett can grade a card legitimately so they can r*pe you with fees. There are other companies out there that offer an equivalent or better product and a better grading process for less than half the cost.
As you can see what the pop count a BGS 10 is literally impossible to get. That’s why they’re so expensive whether they’re genuinely better cards than PSA. No one knows because it’s humans that do the grading until machines do it we won’t have any clue.
It's actually surprising how Beckett has maintained such low BGS 10 populations despite recent changes in the hobby. You'd expect them to hand out more top grades to lure in customers, but they've stuck to their strict standards. This bodes well for the long-term value of those pristine 10s. 👍🏻
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR I honestly felt Beckett was the fairest grading company until I have submitted over 50 pack fresh cards and still have not got a 10 at this point. I’m forced to go to PSA I’m in it to make money. I’m sure you can understand.
PSA will likely face similar challenges. It's unrealistic to expect a card straight from a pack to be in gem mint condition. Even modern cards can have imperfections like off-centering, corner wear, surface wear, and edge wear right out of the pack. The key takeaway is to educate yourself on grading criteria, tools, and techniques. Submitting the right cards, not just any card, is essential for achieving high grades. I hope this helps! Cheers!
No one knows lmfao??!! People know BGS 10's are better. Most know PSA grading of weak compared to BGS and inconsistent, but still buy and sell PSA because of their marketing hype. Which only gives them more hype, but it's hard to not want to make money, right?
Ok… this video is WILDLY misleading. The pop counts are driving the prices, but the pop counts also dont examine what percent of total submissions received each grade. The fact across the board is that PSA graded virtually every one of these card significantly more than BCG. So by default, there should be more that received a higher grade thus increasing the pop counts. A real question still exists about the subjectivity of grading. Is there really any obvious difference between a 9 and a 10 or is this done to appease “influencers” and give them higher grades to further control the market? Anyone who believes this grading game isnt rigged is fooling themselves.
Whoa, what's the confusion here? These sales are as clear as day! Anyone can verify them, no smoke and mirrors. It's just the facts, plain and simple. Cheers to transparency! 🍻
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR Again, wildly inaccurate. The pop counts drive the sale prices, but the pop counts IGNORE that is almost all cases, people submitted to PSA at anywhere from a 5-1 to 15-1 ratio. Therefore, the BGS card is not worth a dime more regardless of what people pay because they, like you, are ignoring how many more cards are submitted to PSA in general. You are selectively looking at two stats (pop count and sales) while not addressing the actual percentage of how many sent to each company receive a grade of 10 based on the overall percentages submitted for grading.
You've hit the nail on the head. Pop counts can sway prices, but they don't always consider the vast difference in submission ratios between PSA and BGS. This means the value of BGS cards might not truly represent the grading scene. While it's crucial to factor in submission proportions and grading percentages, it's worth noting that the current market seems to favor BGS 10 examples of the cards listed.
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR NO!!! IT!! DOES!!! NOT!!!!! It favors (like you do) the FALSE belief that the resell is higher because the pop count is lower. I get what youre saying… the sales are the sales are the sales. And yes, there are beyond stupid people on every corner of earth that dont do the actual math and see that 10% of all PSS submissions got the same 10 as 10% of all BGS submission. That BGS has so far fewer is only a point that PSS has millions of more grading submissions a year than BGS. If you cant get that or your viewers cant, shame on you both and keep paying BGS prices based on under-inflated submission ratios. Fools!!
The problem with this example is unless you have a “sweetheart” deal with BGS, you have a better chance of getting ice water in hell than a BGS 10!! P.S-PSA is getting as ridiculous!
The real value of a Bgs 10 is 3x a psa 10 & a Black label is 10x a psa 10...The whole world just watched Probstein last year send 35 MJ 1986 Fleer psa 10 to Bgs & not 1 got even a Bgs 10 let alone a Black label.
Tag is a passing fad! As soon as they get 10k submissions watch them have 5 month wait times like HGA! However, CGC Slabs are really nice especially for the Cards that have shine! If only they had a more west coast presence, PSA would be shaking in their boots!
I wish someone would come up with a pop report across all the platforms so we could compare total graded tens nines blah blah blah. That would be pretty cool Wait don’t nobody listen to this I’m gonna go find a smart teenager to program this for me and make $1 million.
Still would be inaccurate as resubmitted cards going back and forth from PSA, BGS and SGC is way beyond anything that you can ever prove. PSA to PSA to SGC to PSA just to get the grade you want. And they certainly weren't taken off the pop report each time. With serial numbered cards and now high resolution scans, it might be easier to track which cards are being resubmitted. Eventually!!!
BGS 10 is Pristine, dumb dumb. PSA doesn’t do Pristine. But sometimes a PSA 10 will look really good, and you can send it to the money grab hungry BGS and get a juiced up BGS 10. 🤦♂️ But yeah, they’re not the same. You would have to compare apples to apples, which is PSA 10 Gem Mint to BGS 9.5 Gem Mint. Can’t make this stuff up with these rookie collectors / “investors”
I'm a bit puzzled about your point here. The video just highlights the price gap between BGS 10 and PSA 10 cards. Are you suggesting Beckett's superiority is due to PSA's grading system lacking a .5 grade between 9 and 10? If so, then yes, Beckett 10s have an advantage for the long haul. Hope that clears things up. Cheers!

Fools!!
What came first, the chicken or the egg. Same dilemma. One drives the other and vice versa
Has anyone seen a black label for his card.
I don't think that I have, it would be awesome to see one go up for auction though!
Thumbs up video.
Thanks! 👍🏻
very interesting video! keep em coming
The problem with this example is unless you have a “sweetheart” deal with BGS, you have a better chance of getting ice water in hell than a BGS 10!! P.S-PSA is getting as ridiculous!
I dont understand why a psa gem mint 10 is being compared to a bgs pristine 10......bgs 9.5 would be the equal to psa 10 since bgs 9.5 is gem mint.
Id rather have the BGS 10
Hey Hey Come out and Play Aquamatt?
The real value of a Bgs 10 is 3x a psa 10 & a Black label is 10x a psa 10...The whole world just watched Probstein last year send 35 MJ 1986 Fleer psa 10 to Bgs & not 1 got even a Bgs 10 let alone a Black label.
The Whole World? That’s a bit of a stretch 😆
I prefer CGC and TAG
DaFuq is TAG?
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR Ahahaha. What's wrong with TAG? You're acting like I said GMA or something
Tag is a passing fad! As soon as they get 10k submissions watch them have 5 month wait times like HGA! However, CGC Slabs are really nice especially for the Cards that have shine! If only they had a more west coast presence, PSA would be shaking in their boots!
Its clear bgs grades better than psa! And worth more $$...
I'm starting to think fanatics is creating another junk wax era
How do you mean?
I wish someone would come up with a pop report across all the platforms so we could compare total graded tens nines blah blah blah. That would be pretty cool
Wait don’t nobody listen to this I’m gonna go find a smart teenager to program this for me and make $1 million.
If you have the raw numbers you can do this in MS Excel in minutes
Still would be inaccurate as resubmitted cards going back and forth from PSA, BGS and SGC is way beyond anything that you can ever prove. PSA to PSA to SGC to PSA just to get the grade you want. And they certainly weren't taken off the pop report each time.
With serial numbered cards and now high resolution scans, it might be easier to track which cards are being resubmitted. Eventually!!!
@@williampotts7205 For your scenario agree but what was originally asked is possible fairly easily if you have the raw data.
🤯
BGS 10 is Pristine, dumb dumb. PSA doesn’t do Pristine. But sometimes a PSA 10 will look really good, and you can send it to the money grab hungry BGS and get a juiced up BGS 10. 🤦♂️
But yeah, they’re not the same.
Cheers!
True but most psa 10s will come back anywhere from Bgs 8.5-9.5 psa is more lenient on the back of cards
does bgs charge more
if not, they must be serving free booze at the bgs auctions
You got to sharpen your math skills
Certainly! Sharpening my math skills is definitely on my to-do list. Practice makes perfect, right? Thanks for providing specific examples for me to work on! 😂 btw A more grammatically correct statement would be: "You need to sharpen your math skills." 👍🏻
It makes no sense why a psa 9 mint sells for more than a BGS 9. WHEN I ASK A SELER OF A P.S.A. 9 why is it a 9 and not a 10 ,he has no idea.ls it surface, centering , edges or corners. No explanation. AT LEAST WITH B.G.S. THE SUBS Tell the whole story. Explain
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR lol all good man just when your saying can buy 2 or 3 for price of bgs 10 there’s a couple examples in the video we’re it’s off buy a card or two in value
