You should check out the originals of The Naked Gun TV series "Police Squad" from 1982. The jokes are more pure and the series was said to have "too many jokes for viewers to follow"
I think Roger Ebert once said something incredibly insightful about these kinds of movies: "You laugh at every joke twice: once at the joke, because it's funny. Then you laugh a second time, at yourself, for laughing at something so stupid." And that's been my experience with Zucker Bros. movies, every time.
There's crazy scene in third part with O.J. Frank comes to precinct and one of detectives speaks to the phone: - For killing family member in this state, you'll pay fine. And camera moves to O.J. right next moment...
Cool note is Weird Al is all 3 movies. He's himself in the first and 3rd but he's a robber in 2nd. Leslie Nielsen hits him with the police station door. It took me multiple watches before I finally realized it lol 😂
Same for the scenes where Frank mentions a thing and someone else replies with "Yes I know!" Even the bit where Frank interogates Quasimodo. (there was an episode where mobsters extorded money from stores and with the ballet school they beat up the owner and Frank sits next to Quasimodo, only to reveal "she was not beat up THAT bad!" only having a black eye. 😅
React to the naked gun 33 1/3 when you can. You should also try doing reaction videos for superhero movie, dumb and dumber, scary movie, a haunted house, the mask, liar liar, and even Bruce almighty.
Silencer on revolver is an actual thing though at 16:54 . The russian nagant revolver is the only revolver that can be silenced, due to it using special gas cartridges, and pulling the trigger presses the drum towards the barrel, closing the gap where gas could usually escape
But it has to be a specially made closed frame revolver. A suppressor won't work with an off the shelf swing open revolver like that. So he is correct it will not work on THIS gun, nor the vast, vast majority of revolvers.
That was legendary jazz singer, Mel Torme dancing with Priscilla Presley. Arguably the greatest male jazz singer, plus ace drummer and multi-instrumentalist.
Slap stick and pun humor movies NEED to make a comeback.......they are just fun times always and really are just a good movie time. I know it will be hard to follow up great like Leslie Nielsen and Mel Brooks but I'm sure it can be done
As someone who grew up on movies like this, I miss this kind of humor. At some point, it just became the same raunchy sex jokes on repeat as "comedy". Every once in a while you'll get an absurdist/surreal comedy like Napoleon Dynamite, but for the most part, this kind of slap stick goof comedy just died. I hope it makes a comeback. :(
@@GummyDinosaursify thankfully not lol, had live bands occasionally and even tho I've never been big on coffee & alcohol mixed I'd always order an Irish coffee. Staff was top tier as well, very polite and friendly.
So many good quotes from this one! My personal favorite is: "Because of you, this city is being overrun by baboons!" "Well, isn't that the fault of the voters?" But the entire movie is a goldmine, perhaps even more than the first one.
Chris laughing and clapping like a little kid in the beginning immediately put a smile on my face. These movies are stone cold classics, and Leslie Nielsen is such a legend. I hope you do 33 1/3 soon. Stay awesome, dudes!🍻🍻
The Police Squad! TV show is also very worth watching. It was released before the TV shows and many jokes were recycled for the movies, but they do have a few running gags that are well worth the time. It's only 6 ½ hour episodes and I think they're all on TH-cam.
The guy who has all the cops at gunpoint, before Frank comes in, that guy was played by none other than "Weird Al" Yankovic, who had appeared as himself in the first Naked Gun.
Trivia: Davy Crockett at 12:52 is actually David Zucker, one of the two Zucker brothers and one of the three from the creative ZAZ team. Zucker. Abrahams. Zucker. You guys should watch Kentucky Fried Movie next.
6:57 The best part? The Blue Note is a real club; it's sort of a chain in fact, with locations in the US, Japan, China, Brazil, and Italy. Even better, it's a jazz club. Not quite as depressing as far as I know though. Whether this was an intentional reference or not I cannot tell, but it's amazing nonetheless.
For another great Leslie Nielson role, you should see "Creepshow" if you haven't already. Very different...but amazing cast, director, author, effects...the works.
Ghost was directed by Naked Gun writer Jerry Zucker. This film was written and directed by David Zucker. So he's taking the piss out of his brothers film in the clay scene.
Don't you dare make me wait so long again for your reaction to the third part ;-) And while I am already commenting here... Love you guys 💙 There is nothing even close to you on YT - Keep it up 👍
When they were spinning their guitars, that's in reference to the band "ZZ Top", who actually have custom guitars that do that - pretty big band back then, had several hits, you've probably heard some of their songs in passing. Believe they also did that gag in Back tk the future 3. And, no, definitely not wires :)
If you want to have a mind blowing changeup involving Leslie Nielsen, than I cannot recommend *CREEPSHOW* enough. The segment he's in is one of the best parts of the film (which is saying something, because the whole film is just that damn good).
6:55 Funny you should suggest that on several levels, you nailed it. You may not realise Blue Note is a world famous jazz record label dating back to the late 1930's. The Blue Notes were a mixed-race South African avant-garde jazz band in the 1970's. They moved to Europe to escape the apartheid regime and are regarded as one of the best bands of their era. Finally the Blue Note in Greenwich village is the premier New York jazz club for 40+ years.
17:00 Fun fact, suppressed revolver are and have been a thing since WW2, they just have to be made for it, where the end of the barrel seats into the chamber being fired.
I've got a suggestion that might (or might not) be up your alley : A spy spoof that feels somewhat like a mix between Naked Gun and Hot Shots. It's called OSS-117. There are two of them if I recall correctly. The caveat being they are french movies staring Jean Dujardin (he starred in The Artist). I think they are hilarious but I don't know if there is a worthy english dub or if you'd be ok with subtitles. If you like those kind of movies I highly recommend a watch (even if it's irl and not on the channel)
Fun fact, Nielson had a long career as a serious actor before Airplane! That's exactly why he was hired. And his ability to deliver the stupidest line with out cracking any sort of emotion was funny AF.

TV series "Police Squad" from 1982. The jokes are more pure and the series was said to have "too many jokes for viewers to follow"
that gives me an idea, I wonder if you guys will ever do anime movies? like Ninja Scroll for example from 1993.
In case you didn't notice, the crook at 10:19 was played by Weird Al. Al makes an appearance in every Naked Gun movie.
holy cow! and that was before his makeover with running with scissors! I would've never recognized him given his old look.
We totally missed that during the shoot and caught it during the edit 😂
I was gonna say "is that Weird Al??"🤣
For a second I thought it was Bruce Campbell
Yup, very surprised they didn't catch that BUT to be fair, that outfit from that angle even made me double take.
"Any last requests, lieutenant?"
"Can I... have the gun?"
Classic.
It's the pause for me, lmfao. "Can I...."😂😂
The "awfully big moustache" joke gets me every single time
That's my favorite, along with Frank and Jane laughing their asses off at "Platoon" in t he first one lol

I've never noticed that, thank you. Now I'm wondering/hoping if he is gonna make an appearance in the alleged reboot.
the "is this some kind of bust" joke is directly from the old TV show, love it

The Velvet Fog.

somewhat older already but check out "Angie Tribeka" ... its veery close to the spirit of Police Squad

I believe they are making a new Naked Gun with Liam Neeson at some point, and I think that could possibly work.

FYI, for chris. The nagant revolver has a sealed chamber and can therefore be used with a silencer. (This wasn't a negant however)
