    A Lange needs to see this and lower their retail prices.

      They are very much aware of their pricing and the reasoning behind it.
      - They produce around 5.000 watches per year, so in that way they are almost like an independent house.
      - Their watches are entirely handmade. Think about the number of hours behind each watch.
      - Each piece has the same level of detail for their movement - perlage, engraving - from the Saxonia to the Datograph.
      - They only use precious metals.
      - Most of their components are insourced.
      - The level of their workers is very high, thus quality control has a strong emphasis. The CEO actually shared a story when he wanted more Zeitwerk produced and the production refused as it would have damaged the watch as a whole, they take their time.
      Value retention is similar to what luxury car manufacturers would argue. They will sell their watches no matter watch, so this only affects people who cannot afford Lange RRP. I am one of these and I aspire to own a Saxonia Date, one day.

      @@thomash.9930correct hence ppl who flock to rolex is Bec most not all really cannot afford a luxury watch hence the concern about value retention.

      @@thomash.9930 a few corrections to be made on the points you made.
      - production number last year was 4,300 pieces
      - They use steel and titanium on most Odysseus models. Also some early Lange 1 models were made in steel as well
      - Most dials and hands are outsourced
      Most importantly, whilst their watches are not priced too high in-comparison to Patek, the sudden price increase was too big of a jump and thus makes most of their watches including a lot of limited edition pieces, quite poor in terms of value retention.

    After a few years of taking consumers for a ride, it is about time to eat the humble pie. I am not buying any ap rolex or patek with premiums or play the game . I can walk away and buy so many other things .

    Tudor should not be included in that list it doesn't belong to that group. If you include Tudor you should include longines its direct competition and running circles around it.
    Longines has a global market share of 5.6% to land at #8 right behind AP #7. Tudor isn't even in the top 10 less than 2% market share.
    How can u include Tudor and leave out JLC???
    Tudor is premium not luxury.

    Need JLC on this list

      Jlc has very poor value retention but very good Craftsmanship. Unfortunately these so called watch sites are now equating speculation/gambling to watch rankings (workmanship, innovation and artistry)

    My takeaway: The data shows that watches are overpriced!

  • @normm1619
    @normm1619 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What is missed is that I presume you are quoting the retail price in resale..which means the owner would be paid considerably less buy the retailer purchasing the watch.

    Thoughts on the Omega Seamaster Summer Blue holding its value? Does it have a chance if it becomes discontinued as its a 75th anniversary edition.

    Great Video. I can only guess where Rolex will be - and this will reinforce why people buy Rolex. As when you go to sell a watch for real, that is where Rolex is really the King compared to the other watch brands. Walk into a second hand watch dealer with a Submariner and a Speedster and see what you get.

    In my widespread by brand collection when I've managed to pick up a watch at a good discount the value retention is better. An anecdotal conclusion which your comprehensive data reinforces. Apart from Rolex and a few other models from various brands the message is if you pay retail you will take a big knock. Looking at my first sentence one concludes "Obviously". 😂😂

    Regarding Cartierany of the limited editions and collection privée were left out. The prices for those are quite different.

    • @Pulse767
      @Pulse767 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The methodology was weighted average by transactions. Given the limited edition models are by nature low number of transactions, they don't play significantly into the overall story

  • @Mega-zi7ys

    Value speculation should not be used as brand ranking.
    Brand rankings should be based on artistry and innovation and workmanship of the watch itself.. speculation is pure gambling
