    Try this:
    "Fortifie Speed 100 for 5 sec on target
    Demoralize for 3 sec"
    as a touch spell.

    I don’t know if it was such a good idea to start off this video by calling the magic bad/dumb. You really ought to appreciate it for what it is, because there is definitely a lot of fun to be had and it becomes really effective once you know what you’re doing. I actually think I like it more than skyrim’s due to you being able to create your own spells and cast them even while holding a weapon/shield.

    • @PacifictheCasualGamer
      @PacifictheCasualGamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I say its dumb because of the way it was implemented. It's very cumbersome to use magic to it's true potential because of how hard the game makes it to control. I dont mean skill wise or gameplay wise, I mean mechanically.

    I played morrowind first on original Xbox then skipped and played Skyrim on PS4 and got the platinum. Now I’m on Oblivion and I’m loving it cause it’s the middle ground between those two games. It’s very fantasy based and the combat is better than morrowind. I’m having a blast playing oblivion for the first time. Waiting for a remaster!

    Want a good spell combo? So spell effects can stack if the spell name is different. So what you do is make three spells. Prep 1: 100% weakness to magicka within 10 ft on target, 100% weakness to element within 10ft on target(i like shock), paralysis for 1 second within 10ft on target, and fortify magicka 100pts of self for 3 seconds. Prep2 same a prep 1 but with a different name. Then the kill spell: 10 damage for 10 seconds with given element within 10ft on target, fortify magicka 100 pts on self for 3 seconds. Then you just alternate prep spells depending on how tough your enemies are. Can also pair the prep spells with a staff. I like to use the max.lvl (15+) mage staff from the guild. 80 points of shock damage and 40 useses multiplied by a few hundred percent is amazing.

    Im a big fan of the combination Frenzy, Invisibility. Frenzy can be touch, or target, and it gets an AOE if you want. the instant it goes off you disappear for however long you want, while Chaos and carnage erupt around you. best part is it dosent count as an attack. So if you do it in a town, you get no bounty. I did it to the Mages Guild and no one cared XD

    If we’re talking individual spells then Wizard’s Fury is good one. I also love the spells you get for use during the Namira and Sanguine quests. As for effects, paralysis is a very useful one even if it’s only for 1 second. Funnily enough I don’t quite remember Levitation in Oblivion. If used correctly Burden was very funny. Let’s also not forget the amazing Conjuration spells. Bound weapons and armor, Daedroths and Atronachs. One of my favorite schools along with Alteration for those utility spells. Let’s also not forget Mysticism since if it’s at a high enough level you can give yourself ridiculous amounts of magic resistance, reflection, or absorption. Telekinesis was also fun but not as useful as some of the others. Then you get to the bread and butter of any mage character, Destruction. At high levels and with enough money and magicka, you could make some spells that are absolutely overpowered. Every element plus weakness to those elements was a great one although it was rather pricey to make. Other than paralysis, Illusion was also pretty well developed with both Invisibility and Chameleon. Then there was Restoration. A school that I think most people didn’t find to be the most useful but could become the most powerful in the right circumstances. Healing was pretty boring but useful but the real fun could be found in the buffs. Every attribute, skill, and stat can be buffed with Restoration allowing for a god tier character to be created. I also forgot to mention the drain and damage spells that weren’t the most useful but added some mystical properties and made the world feel more magical and fleshed out when it comes to spell variety. It’s a shame that the amount of spells has been decreasing ever since Morrowind.

    • @themanicman8458
      @themanicman8458 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use The Force Gandalf restoration is an amazing School of magic put an oblivion it takes way too long to level so most of the time I don't get to that point where I have a character who can buff themselves I have had a couple though the most notable one was a battlemage who used a little bit of Destruction and a lot of restoration weakness to Magic and absorb health was on my weapon and my touch spell as well as a low duration soul trap and then I had to spell to buff my character

    • @PacifictheCasualGamer

      I always forget about damage and drain spells in this game. And I almost always forget Fortify exists lol. I forgot about Wizard's Fury, that's a good one. Fingers of the Mountain gave the super powerful spell that you could almost never cast lmao.

    A battlemage or spellblade are some of the most powerful characters in Oblivion as where a pure mage is the most versatile unless they have the Atronach sign because then they're just a battlemage without the battle aspect as a pure Mage all your efforts will go towards getting a high magic pool and managing it to be able to regenerate but if you're going to use the Atronach you might as well pick a Warrior Race like an orc so you can be good at fighting and Magic at the cost of no Magic regeneration welkynd stones will carry through the early game as an Atronach when as a pure Mage who uses all the schools of magic Atronach is a crippling weakness akin to The Apprentice

    • @PacifictheCasualGamer
      @PacifictheCasualGamer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't really thought of pairing an Atronach with a mainly warrior class. I prefer the Endurance boost at the start over the atronach bonuses I guess.

    • @themanicman8458
      @themanicman8458 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pacific the Casual Gamer yeah endurance boosts are pretty good that's one more point to health each level up that you're getting which is pretty handy but in the same sense me personally when I play a warrior character my biggest weakness is Mages and I'm cutting that weakness in half with the Atronach and giving myself the ability to summon creatures which will also allow me to deal with Warriors and mages even better but of course there is things like the spell drinkers amulet for that and one of the ayleid crowns and namira's ring plus you can still overcome your races magical weakness with sigil stones at level 17 and still have Magicka Regen

      Pacific the Casual Gamer anytime I do a pure mage especially a Breton mundane ring is my go-to choice magic immunity makes the game a lot more manageable for a pure Mage who spells are getting reflected every 2 seconds back at them and it makes me impossible to be silenced which means the Fireballs keep flying and the summons keeps summoning

    A bit of advice for those who want the Simplicity of a warrior with some of the advantages of a mage hotkey two or three spells I recommend a Conjuration Spell and a custom destruction spell with a couple seconds soul trap on it it has to be in one second longer than the duration of your destruction spell now enchant your weapon in a very similar way to your destruction spell and obtain Azura's Star touch destruction spells go through block so if an enemy won't stop blocking use your destruction spell if they try to attack you with melee block them and hit them with your weapon if you need to restore your magic or you want to overwhelm them cast your strongest Conjuration walk around them and just start beating the crap out of them in the back with your weapon now you have massive damage per second and you're taking no damage this only works against powerful enemies in one-on-one though

    • @PacifictheCasualGamer
      @PacifictheCasualGamer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer having a simple spell like paralyze or fortify when I do a mostly warrior build. I also use hotkeys for it, but I make sure all my weapons are taken care of first plus a healing spell.

    • @themanicman8458
      @themanicman8458 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pacific the Casual Gamer that's specifically why I chose the spells that I chose soul trap and destruction is very simple and allows you to keep in Enchanted weapons going and conjuration gives you a free tank however paralyze is Godly but it doesn't work against vampires last I checked as well Plus if you put three elements on the destruction spell you're not putting all your eggs in one basket and you're getting a high damage for a low cost it's pretty Noob friendly even with the only Hoops you have to jump to is getting into the arcane University and getting the elements and soul trap

    First problem with this video: the magic in this game isn't bad, it's great. Literally better than the system in Skyrim across the board generally if for no other reason that it's actually viable in this game, comes in lots more varieties, and the less about the spell making mechanic being basically a codified and developer approved version of restoration loop oversight in Skyrim the better.

Imagine putting on the Boots of Blinding Speed getting your Speed up to 300 as long as they're equipped and sprinting from one end of the map to Red Mountain at the center. I mean yeah, with time, graphics, mechanics.
      Being able to dual wield/cast, and things like that sure. But the story and world was hit so was making spells, and certain spells.
      The towns in Skyrim break immersion for me because I’m supposed to believe that many people can run and protect a city, while farming and trading? No way. Unless guards in the lore do spawn like they do in the games.
      Skyrim is good, if we got remasters of oblivion and morrowind I think they’d beat it. If they implemented dual wield and such.
