Great video, very informative! I cant even be bothered with EDF's anymore after flying with a x45 :) 6 - 10 min flight times, fits in the car easy and just fill up and go! its a hard combination to beat
I would totally agree. I think after the MiG-21 and the T-45 as turbines it’s going to be very hard to convince me to fly EDF going forward for the reasons you just stated and who doesn’t get a kick out of the startup and the noise at full throttle? It’s so addictive

I love this Mickey! Glad to see you back! This T-45 is one of my favorite jets from Freewing,and turbines are something I was really wanting to get into,as I worked real jets for 40 yrs. I started building a Byron A-4 last year and had thoughts on putting a turbine in it,but it is on hold now,due to my stroke.This video gives me lots of inspiration to keep up therapy and hope to get back to building, which I love more than just putting a few screws in a foamie and flying.This was an excellent video my brother,thank you!

@@SquawkVFRC Mickey,thank you,and I will always keep working hard,as that is all I know to do.I was always very capable with my hands and the rest of my body,and there wasn't much I could not do when I put my mind to it.I worked 40 years as a real aircraft mech,and believe it or not I was well respected by my peers,supervisors and my customers.It is so strange only having use of half my body,as the stroke did ring my bell pretty good.I am still mostly the same Don,but different at the same time.Nothing is easy for me anymore,as I did suffer some brain damage,but like before, I always find a way to get things done! Never looking for sympathy,so please don't think that I am,just want people to know to not take life for granted.I want to join the zoom sometime,but am a bit embarassed with the new me,as my speach is not the same although not bad,just not what it was.Maybe I'll brave it out and join in soon.I love all you guys on the live chats,and thank you all for what you do.I have a few projects to get to as soon as I can,so you haven;t heard the last from me.

Excellent video and explanation Mickey!!! I love my V1 of this model on 8’s especially considering all the scale effects. There’s nothing like the smell of jet fuel however, and hopefully someday will get into turbines when cash flow allows. Thanks for some great information and sharing 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

The Xicoy is truly fantastic and was clearly the way to go with this and many of the smaller models. Awesome Mikey!
great video, could you do maybe a quick one, 2-3min walktrrough over install to show a bit how it all went in, what did you cut and so, thanks a lot! I see turbine is mounted only 1cm in front of EDF position, but some mount if waaay more forward, closer to tank, but with special braces that dig into foam in more places and hold turbine and tube, but cost pretty much (no balast needed). good to know your way does not need so much lead in nose, maybe because speed brakes servo are removed aft too.

Great video Mickey! I have converted the Freewing Avanti, T-33 and Gripen and they are just FANTASTIC with the X-45. Warning though, these 80mm planes will break the wings if you fly full throttle for too long... Unlimited verticals all day long, even with full 1,2L fuel tank!

As Xicoy recommend kerosene over other fuels you should mention this.
