true. On the Steam news they said like its the biggest update ever and +100 new/reworked blocks.. I thought its adding new content because of "industrial" but its not. Unfortunately.
2:57 that’s actually a pressure vessel, in this case a sphere, filled with pressurized (inert) gases, usually helium, that fill the void in the fuel and oxidizer tanks as the liquids are drawn out more and more, which creates a vacuum in the now empty part of the tank, sucking the liquid back in, which is prevented by flooding this created vacuum with the pressurized gas this tank (of helium gas) is actually not necessarily part of the engine, but on for example the third stage of the saturn V it is found near the engine as that part of the stage is shrouded from air resistance until it separates from the second stage (already outside of the majority of the atmosphere where pressure is not 0 but very very low)

This update got all my mates back on space engineers again. Hyped up for the second combat update which is hopefully focused on space and armoured warfare. These armoured panels are a good sign and I’ve already placed them on my battleship on our server for added protection. Also, how can you be mad at Keen for doing a DLC business model when each DLC only costs 2-3 quid? You can pick and choose what DLC you want and they aren’t expensive to buy them all anyways. Many publishers would charge more than 20 quid for this content so good on Keen for doing it this way.
Orbiter is the term for any vessel that's designed to carry passengers and orbit the earth, the NASA Space Shuttle's iconic white and black ship is actually called the Shuttle Orbiter. Also, for the "big red button" it's not *just* the button, it's a full three button panel. The yellow buttons below the red one are interactable
I myself like this DLC and most of all the others yes so modders made them first but Keen is now putting them in game so they don't break as much with updates as mods
There was new block config option added in terminal, look at the botom of landing gear and magnetic pads terminal (idk if connectors got it too). Basically it lets you ignore the P brake/docking controll. Super useful for ground carriers/mobile bases.
Don't forget to mention they kinda fixed the Y/P button. Now you'll finally be able to hit the hand real button without unlocking all connectors. Also being able to power off the specific grid. As well as connectors being able to be connected to even if one has no power. And I love the new armor panels and all the new reskins. Can't wait to see what industrial abomination I will create
Every time I see this game I want to get back into, but every time I look and see it is not worth it. This game came out in 2013 and still isn't finished or polished that well. Now they are selling DLC equipment that looks great, but always seemed like what we envisioned years ago. They need to call it quits and maybe start on a space engineers 2.0 with a better base engine.
Honestly "calling it quits" is exactly what they're probably doing. Farming DLC sales to fund development of SE2. It's clear they can't fix the game's physics engine and netcode with the money they have, so cosmetic DLCs are just their way of abandoning it, without technically doing so. Probably to avoid their bad reputation of abandoning Miner Wars 2081 in the past.
the game engine SE operates on is fine (otherwise game would have collapsed on itself long ago), however they are reluctant to work on polish and rather keep on shoveling redesigned-workshop gizmos at us. This game gets a whole lot better with mods, but still it kind of pisses me off devs avoid making this game better with actual updates to the systems and rather are happy with small DLCs. At least Keen Software stopped hemorrhaging money on loose projects like medieval engineers.
Something I've noticed, the Large Industrial Cargo Container can hold more then a normal Large Cargo container! Same goes for the refinery and assembler, haven't checked the hydrogen tanks yet. But apart from that the new blocks are absolutely gorgeous!
I still want SE to have food and water requirements in survival. Hydroponics and such. To me this is the biggest element left out. Eating doesn't have to be as often as other games but like 1-2 times per game day. Even if you harvest algae from the oxy farm tube and process it into so nutrient bar would be great. Water/Ice would be even more critical with this facet added.
People get scared when they here DLC announced by big game publishers. When space engineers got a new DLC you get what you expect! Keep up and don't let this game die :)
SE really balances what should and shouldn’t be in the DLC very well :) Giving people acces to new features for free, like the smaller landing gears and merge block and thin plates, but letting you pay for the more decorative stuff. This is the first time I’m considering getting the decorative stuff because of how good it is :)
There was a time several years ago when I was worried that a game with as much raw potential as Space Engineers was still going to peter out and development was going to stop. It seemed to be heading that way for some time. I’m so glad I was mistaken and instead it’s growing and improving on a regular basis.
This is by far their best. The only thing that I would like after this is a few more corner pieces to match up for when I have a difficult corner. Like when I have to connect a half slab slope to a normal 1X2 slope end piece at a 90 degree angle. Would be nice to have a block that can smooth that. Making some circle blocks that can do a circle twice and 3 times as large would be nice too. Always wanted to armor some external piping but have never be able to with purely round blocks.
Those small armor block will definitely help. Some of my large ships gone small designs have to use a lot of catwalk blocks to fill in areas where I have to sacrifice armor to cram more stuff in. This will make it look less obvious. And that refinery is looken good.
so for the freebies; plates anyone could make in blender by just squishing a cube + adding a bevel. thing thats been done before on the workshop. second thing thats beeen done on the workshop. great work keen.
Don't say it too loud!!! The sensitive-yet-aggressive cheerleaders will leave massive, breathless, agonized paragraphs defending KEEN. At least KEEN's Marek doesn't have the coke habit that PGI's Russ does.
Large Industrial Hydrogen Tank = Stardestroyer Shield Dome. I like the details. I'm glad to see the Industrial Refinery and Assembler accept upgrade attachments. A waste that the toggle block only has 1 button. I just realized that the stairs and catwalks on the new refinery makes it harder to position on its side instead of upright. Need some Industrial style upgrade modules.
The only thing I've wanted for Space Engineers for well over 5 years is a Jump Gate or Warp Engine that would allow for the interconnecting of servers using the exact same mods.
When I see those magnetic plates the only thing I think of is CARGO HOLDS. I have had a few ships in the past that used mods to do something similar and it makes transporting around cargo containers a viable thing in game.
According to the notes, this update is supposed to fix the issue of inertial dampeners disregarding subgrids. Also, I think those 4 way junctions on the pipes are great because you won't have to use a full six sided junction anytime you want to make a simple T-junction, which should help performance. I wouldn't mind them adding a basic T-junction to the list, and working up similar junctions for the standard conveyor skin. Not going to expect it, but they did add in the T and corner blocks for corridors, so who knows.
@@Dagonius. I've always heard that the game has to check each port on a junction every time it updates, which can effect performance if you have a lot of them. Is that not the case?
@@deadbones4 That's what I was told, too. "AndrewmanGaming" did a video on this topic. It was pretty convincing. th-cam.com/video/6VWj4sx2aqk/w-d-xo.html
the problem with the dlc is it's starting to feel like a money pit. Just to throw money into. Oh it's only 5 bucks until it's the 10th one you bought. And what really did you get? Nothing the modding community couldn't make. Look at weapon core for example.
Hope they get good money to finalize the game and do SE2.. I don't mind them doing few last dlc's anymore I will buy them just to show support. But I really want speeds more than 100m/s vanilla. And some orbital mechanics and to build big with less limits and so on. And for that I guess there has to be a whole rework of code or something.. I remember some archived fan-post about ("The Mythical") space engineers 2 and how the SE was never meant to be a multiplayer and have all it does now.. I have been dreaming/waiting for SE2 ever since :D
Games need cash to be developed, most people don't understand that when they bough the game they bough it as is the devs could literately leave the game as is and not update it but they have been adding and fixing a lot of stuff, with out the cash flow from the DLC none of it would happen
Legally they can, but if they left it as is, people would immediately stop buying it because the netcode and physics engine are still severely unstable, with only promises of further improvement. A developer can slap Version 1.0 on a game, drop all promises, and leave at any time they want. But that doesn't mean they left a good game. And these devs KSH have a bit of a history of not keeping promises and abandoning games. Look up Miner Wars 2081.
@@hmhmhmlol3252 My point, they could easily stop development of the game and start on a new game with a better engine and such, honestly don't know why they don't but meh, the concept is great and I just wash the engine was better.
the refinery is the biggest thing imo, for better compact nomad crafts. use a pair directly as internal stairs (also the old half stairs which are the only thing breaking the "purely cosmetic" nature of dlc stuff)
Strange that the fawning cheerleaders in this comment section haven't mentioned this fact. It IS more compact and the assembler can fit double the modules on it's side. And the soybreathers will insist its still "purely cosmetic". These same fools doubt the inevitably slippery slope of "free dlc" becoming "pay to win".
I don't like endless DLCs normally. but what these DLCs are really doing is taking mod content, refinishing it, and making it available to all people whether they downloaded the mod or not. What I don't like about the situation is that this incentivizes them to break mods. Something they do on the regular. On the other side, I had already given up on modding a long time ago, not just because of the mods being broken on a consistent basis (though that's part of it), but because you can't guarantee your super amazing ship design will ever actually be used by anyone. Modded ships are awesome, but barely touched on the workshop, and the best designers (as a result) have all turned to making vanilla ships. DLCs allow those previous modded blocks to be displayed to everyone in the game, whether they have the DLC or not, so it's a win/win. DLC ships still get downloaded all the time, and it's a nice balance. I can't complain. I'm in favor.

I love the magnetic plates, it's about goddamn time we had a solution to building ships that wasn't plopping a cockpit on a landing gear.
So I found the part I got most excited by, the armor panels mean I can now paint diagonal stripes onto my ships.
Sometimes it's the small things.
I know some don't like DLC's as a rule of thumb, but HOLY cow, this has me super excited, and I think that Keen did really good with this one!
If i had a couple extra dollars i would get this dlc those thrusters are perfect for my Saturn V
Ay bro, dm me on Steam. I’ll buy it for you. Steam id is: hotdogbun64
Finally hazard stripes!
Nice orbit 76 reference there
Man, this comment section sounds more positive, the steam forums are depressing
Haven't bought the game yet, what's their issue tho?
I don't know man, Im seeing a bunch of people complaining because this dlc is PaY tO wIN
@@thejokestersquad3686 No it isn't, cosmetics only in DLC, you can buy the game and not need DLC
@@thejokestersquad3686 Pay to win? Pay to win what exactly? I thought this was a sandbox game. Some people will complain no matter what.
The idea of complaining about cosmetic DLC in a game with full workshop access is nuts to me
This looks like a DLC right up my alley. Might just be time to build another industrial thingy.
Damn, forgot all about this channel. Used to watch when Space Engineers was still in early access.
That's the parts we didn't knew we needed XD
Ya we finally get a small merge block
I can finally make a simple bomber
you could have had small merge block via mods on workshop since at least 2 years lol

gives me the "old worn industry" mod vibe with the refinery, nice to see it vanilla - make great blocks for abandoned encounter facilities
I have watched your videos for 4 years now and remember the mighty weisle. I can't spell so well
Every time I see this game I want to get back into, but every time I look and see it is not worth it.
I have more hours of fun in this game than any other. It and all its DLC could be tripple the cost and it would have been worth it.
The game didnt come out in 2013 it was released as alpha/beta it only offically recenlty released
the game engine SE operates on is fine (otherwise game would have collapsed on itself long ago), however they are reluctant to work on polish and rather keep on shoveling redesigned-workshop gizmos at us. This game gets a whole lot better with mods, but still it kind of pisses me off devs avoid making this game better with actual updates to the systems and rather are happy with small DLCs.
At least Keen Software stopped hemorrhaging money on loose projects like medieval engineers.
@@MrDeothor Don't forget about the huge lists of fixes and performance improvements that come with each of these releases too.
I haven't redesigned my old favorite corvette for several updates. Looks like it's time to do so.
Something I've noticed, the Large Industrial Cargo Container can hold more then a normal Large Cargo container! Same goes for the refinery and assembler, haven't checked the hydrogen tanks yet. But apart from that the new blocks are absolutely gorgeous!
Honestly, the DLC isn't even that expensive and these new blocks are totally awesome
Finally, magnetic pads in vanilla and this armor will be cool for layered armor. Both really useful, I'm glad that the devs listen.
Still nothing really to do with my ships and creation. No adventure, no real enemy, nothing to bring me back to this game
Mods can spice things up, and finding a good server but that is easier said than done.
there s actually missions in the workshop, there s servers with objectives, etc
Economy added missions way back when that came out
@@CMTechnica you can't be serious about the missions they added...
Check for example empyrion and compare the actual content
SE really balances what should and shouldn’t be in the DLC very well :) Giving people acces to new features for free, like the smaller landing gears and merge block and thin plates, but letting you pay for the more decorative stuff. This is the first time I’m considering getting the decorative stuff because of how good it is :)
What about large small landing gear for example?
@@ImieNazwiskoOK what about them? Functionally the same as 9 small small landing gears :)
And that refinery is looken good.
i really like the blocks i just wish we had more real content. or at lest something thats a game changer
They literally just revamped the whole weapon system

so for the freebies; plates anyone could make in blender by just squishing a cube + adding a bevel.

second thing thats beeen done on the workshop.
great work keen.
If you mean the big red button, it has 3. The big red one, and the two yellow ones underneath it.
@@forgilageord Ok. It looked like only the red one was a button when Arron was demo it. I have not bought the DLC yet.
The high pressure ball on the side, with many pipes, is probably an accumulator.
So if they are doing revisions and re-imagining of some of the individual segments do you think we might get a drone rework?
Your graphics are amazing.
This is fantastic and for less than £3 it's not even a tiny scratch on my bank account, keep em coming keen! I really love more content for my games!
the small merge block is an actual game changer
Yeah, it's time to redesign our strike fighters.
Tests have been done concerning performance.
No issues with conveyor junctions.
OOOOoooh, can't wait to get home now.
Ooh my ambush corvette needs this update.
You failed to mention the massive changes to the P and Y functions, for parking and power.
Finally, landing gear pieces that are tiny; now things can get smaller, ship-wise.
Splendid.
I see Keen is going full Paradox.
the problem with the dlc is it's starting to feel like a money pit. Just to throw money into. Oh it's only 5 bucks until it's the 10th one you bought. And what really did you get? Nothing the modding community couldn't make. Look at weapon core for example.
And?
And?
Or your supporting the creators to continue to work on and build out a game that many of us have thousands of hours in.
And?
@@13grappler A game that should have been completed years ago. With maybe a space engineers 2 with a new engine by now.
Awesome
My only complaint is that I didn't know more than half of the update is paid content. I respect the grind but please lemme know next time
FFS FINALLY.....a small grid merge block!
I see no reason to ever use regular blocks ever again after these. They just have so much detail!
Games need cash to be developed, most people don't understand that when they bough the game they bough it as is the devs could literately leave the game as is and not update it but they have been adding and fixing a lot of stuff, with out the cash flow from the DLC none of it would happen
EXACTLY
YESSSS
the refinery is the biggest thing imo, for better compact nomad crafts. use a pair directly as internal stairs (also the old half stairs which are the only thing breaking the "purely cosmetic" nature of dlc stuff)
Not sure how I feel about large magnetic plates being DLC owners only but still pretty cool
Really love the blocks, I downloaded the DLC but haven't checked yet. The storage and tanks are 5x5 so I guess they have more volume as well?
looks cool i do agree they need to do something more than just DLC but for the moment i am fine with them.
These are some god damn sexy blocks
New hydrogen thrusters look cool
Mmm pipes
Mmm shiny pipes
Mmm giant ball things
Great now I have to also deal with small grids padlocking to NCP trade stations
