@@BeFree-BeFrugal thank goodness. The trauma from falling into stinging nettles as a kid is still there... forever etched in my pea brain.

@@BeFree-BeFrugal Jill, I wanted to let you know about the potatoes. They are going MAD!! I put them in rolled down (outwards) leaf bags with about 15-20 cm of soil at the base, placed the spud on the soil and covered. When they were covered in soil, I then piled up 15 cm of autumn leaves. Then 2 shovels of dirt to hold down the leaves. They have been left to sprout. As they popped up, I covered them in more leaves/No dirt. The green easily pops through the leaves. So I have just finished unravelling the whole bag!! I have topped it up again with leaves. They are going nuts!! The bags are porous so no sog despite heaps of rain. It is in bags because I don't want them to spread. The more they are unraveled the higher they get to peep over the top of the bag to catch sun. So we will see what happens. I'm telling you now because I know that you use straw. Leaves cost nothing and don't go moldy like straw which can actually be toxic. So maybe grab a few garbage bags of leaves oak etc whilst it is Autumn over there? It is awesome mulch. Seriously, they are alien invasion level of green monsters already and it isn't even close to hot days, just balmy spring!🙃🙃🙃🙋‍♀️💕
