How to Setup the Astro A50 Wireless Headset on the Xbox One S Console

- Hi, this is an in depth video of setting up the Astro A50 Wireless Headset (2nd generation) on the Xbox One S. The same setup will apply for the Xbox One.
I show the initial setup, charging the headset, pairing the headset, Xbox One settings, testing the headset, mic, optical out, aux in and MixAmp Dolby Pro Logic 7.1 Surround sound settings.

i tried this, and the aux on the astro is 2.5mm so i bought a special aux that was 2.5mm to 3.5mm and it didn’t work.
so you can’t use as just headphones if that’s what you’re looking for.

Can someone help me - i have the same headset but in Halo edition and without usb cable the headset is not working. With wire plug in everything works.

Technically it is, it's true wireless when you don't want to chat with people. If you just want to hear the game it is. So it's kinda like having a glorified pair of earphones that sound great. Lol
@sahdowdragoon6 The gen 3 A50s do not require the chat cable. Previous generations do require it, though.

@@natek987 just picked up a old gen yesterday I guess and was disappointed I had to connect to the control to chat but I guess for 40$ I can't complain. It sucks mostly because I use a cronusmax plus to switch my stick layout to legacy for games like pubg and rainbow six siege (no cheating scripts or game packs)

Wondering if you can help me. I have the astro a50s for the Xbox. Not used them in sometime. When I use them now to play this video with them plugged into my mobile, the video audio is all stuffed up. Never had this issue when I first got them.

@Shadows2207 can you just use a converter instead? You know like how the A50s are a 2.5mm and the Xbox one is a 3.5mm can't you just buy the lil splitter looking pice that you can plug your 2.5mm into one end of it as where the 3.5mm is on the other end that you would plug into the controller and you could just plug it directly into your controller or chat pad like that? I'm just wondering if that would as work a well? If you know it would be much appreciated thank you.😊

Still £279.99 one year later however if I'm not mistaken they have put the earlier edition up to £249.99 although they're out of stock, can you confirm?

Make sure you have it set to Xbox initially. If you already have it set to Xbox, you can just flip the switch on the right side. Sometimes my mic doesn't work and I fix this by switching to PC and back to Xbox. After that you should see a pop up saying something along the lines of "headset assigned". Sometimes it also helps to completely close out of the game app and relaunch it.

I own the Astro a50 Halo Master Chief edition I have the MixAmp but I don't own the do I need the bay station to get the full benefit of these headphones such as in game audio for example I can hear my friends chat but I cannot get game audio at the same time everything is syncned....I've already done all that and upgraded the firmware so do I need to base station in order to hear in-game audio
For gen3 headset a50, does it need stupid adapter to chat? Don't need any adapter on ps4, so why this?

Is there anyway you can buy a converter to use if you've got the original A50s an the part that plugs into the controller is only a 2.5 mm? What I mean by A converter is its this lil wire that looks like a splitter, at one end it'll take the 2.5mm and on the other end it'll Be a 3.5mm that can plug directly into the controller or chat pad. Soo if there is anyone that might know if this would work it would be much appreciated thank you.

Same here. When I called Astro customer support their unwillingness to acknowledge the echo, I basically swore off the brand for life.
