Nice demonstration. It's good to see a friendly, positive video between two styles instead of the usual BS, ego driven versus videos. They each enjoy and are quite good at their respective styles, it's obvious. Ignore the haters.

I am sorry, it that is such a bullshit.
There is nothing in the world that supports what you are saying.
Koreans cannot even read their own true history as they are all written in Chinese characters. So all they can do is to regurgitate the fabrications that their government keeps on cocking up.
      Talk a look at this:
      th-cam.com/video/Fd8oWLXhNG0/w-d-xo.html
The only martial art that Korea had was archery. Everything else they learned from Japan in the 20th century.

There’s a lot of elements in hapkido taken from judo. There are also however things from Akido and taekwondo. I always wanted to take hapkido as I only did judo but I’m unsure if it would be as effective in real situations as judo has treated me very well in fights.

The kicks would be the only plus if you already knows judo throws and submissions, since I doubt the aikido part of hapkido would be that much useful unless catching someone offguard or to prevent some bjj takedowns

They both come from aikijutsu, jujitsu also, but Hapkido is actually aikijutsu with Korean name as Hapkido came to Korea from a Korean taken slave as a boy in WW2, when he returned to Korea after Japan surrendered, he used the name Hapkido so Jordan’s wouldn’t burn down his school and kill him, so much hatred of the Koreans to the Japanese due to the severe oppression they suffered with the Japanese occupation, Japan tried to wipe out Korean culture in their occupation and were brutal taking slaves and total domination. The history of martial T solution is both sad and fascinating. Of course the Koreans added to aikijutsu giving Hapkido kicks and strikes making it a comprehensive martial Art

    Hapkido uses judo techniques

  • @Qitrainer
    @Qitrainer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Reality check. Judo is great hard sport and you have be good to compete. Hapkido is to illuminate the other person or persons within 2 to 5 seconds where they are NO longer a threat to you. Hapkido has judo blocks which are illegal in contest judo for it prevents judo movement working. I have great respect for Judo people they work hard and train within their techniques. Just measure what you have learn in Hapkido with kicks alone is so hard and then add hands throws. You really cannot compare the two given purpose and range of techniques you have master to be good.. Judo is one on one Hapkido is one or many at once fighting art.

    • @Qitrainer

@@kennethrogers1129 I been around Hapkido for 25 years and have know great Masters of the art. My instructor taught Dan Ki Gong. which is a Koran form of Qi gong.
His form of Ki Gong has both hard and soft during movement within that act of core breathing. Simply it increases core energy and strength both and the hips are stabilizes during movement like throwing someone or do any sport like baseball. Since all movement is center around the hips.if the hips do work will look out.
Blending your strength, in hips and Ki energy base on HOW you do core breathing.
Core breathing is center development so the mind directs the core muscles action forming a breath and energy direction for movement .
From energy point of view the Function of mind is consume energy in form of emotions in thoughts or direct energy during movements within purpose..
I do have some TH-cam Video on my form of Core breathing. Hope to do more in time for my main goal is to give technics to change stress in shoulders and tension in the body that limit movement.
Thanks for the comment. Hap ki do to me has range to take on three people and be affective. I have trained to take on three on one. Now there are many instructions base on how the instructor leaned.
My instructor focus on what is Natural in movement and purpose. He used that word so much and it took me 10 years to finely realize what he meet by having the experience.
When you see him move and do a technique it was natural. Being natural is being in Technique and base how affective is your technique doing the movement with core breathing. It not a simple thing to get the physical experiences with mental state as one in the movement. Core breathing is part of process during movement and power action. The word power is NOT simple or ease and what most people think in power is strength increase through core energy.
Have a good day. You can tell I enjoy talking about Hapkido. I look at many Arts before focus on Hapkido. It art you can still do in 70s with less effort. The word effort is key point in Hapkido principles. Changing direction is base on effort in force.
The balance speed movement. Jacky Chan is example of Hapkido. If look at his 1980 movie Young Master. The kicks you see at the end in the fight all Hapkido techniques. Jacky abilities are great.
It just to much fun for me talking about Hapkido

    • @Qitrainer
      @Qitrainer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kennethrogers1129 My view. So many of the Hapkido video showing techniques have to much movement they are not simple looking and direct.
My instructor stress balance affect to get your opponent off balances is the first act of a technique.
What does that mean is you have to get his head to move little therefore his time to respond is longer and your done.
If you get the head to move they can not move until the head is stabilized. I do not see that idea in shown Hapkido Techniques so they have use more force to complete action. I judge a technique base on effort to do it and how affective is it.
What I like about in Hapkido is counter techniques to everything you learn there is counter ability.. My view you can neutralize any technique within the first 1/4 of a movement. If do not stop it then you adjust your self to complete the techniques in the Next 1/4 of the movement. IF do not do anything your broken.
The first think you have do at the very beginning of every technique is get the head movement that action creates off balances affect where the person cannot react.
If you do not do that counter Techniques can be used. If the head is off balances your off balance is the idea.
      Hope you like that idea

The throws are similar because in the beginning, Hapkido was basically Aiki Jujitsu mixed with Kudo, basically Korean Judo. The founder of Hapkido, and the family I was trained by, was Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu and his 1st student was a Korean Judo practitioner. Later kicks and strikes from traditional Korean martial arts were added.

Hapkido vs other martial arts? We know it depends on the fighter, but let's say which of these gear has an advantage over the other... A good placement is to say that it depends on the fighter, I will evaluate which is more complete and effective:
    1-Hapkido vs. Taekwondo
good fight, both martial arts are sisters of martial arts, good if it is a fight against taekwondo is better, by the fact of using kicks well, is a martial art faster and felxivel than the hapkido, has few punches in the fight, but has to be strong punches. But hapkido has better techniques of torsions and immobilizations than taekwondo, so I would enjoy a fight for example 2 against 1. In question the part that is more complete I know teachers of hapkido and practice taekwondo and I can say that hapkido and taekwondo have the same effect.
    2-Hapkido Vs. Wing Chun
Of these two, hapkido is more efficient and more complete, wing chun has good attacks with the arms but the kicks are very low. Ja hapkido has his kicks, his kicks and his kicks.
    3-Hapkido vs. Jiu Jitsu
Well, if the jiu-jitsu fighter takes the hapkido opponent to the ground I think it's difficult for the hapkido fighter to win, so it's the jiu-jitsu fighter's victory, but this can happen to hapkido: the jiu-jitsu fighter wanted to get the hapkido fighter leg, the hapkido fighter applies a technique against grabbing and was already a fighter for jiu jitsu. Now the most complete is certainly hapkido and more effective also because you can count on 3 opponents at the same time.
    4-Hapkido vs. Muay Thai
Well, it's hard to believe that if you put a muay thai fighter with 5 years of experience against a hapkido fighter with 5 years of experience, the muay thai fighter would win. Good luck when it comes to facing more than 1 opponent hapkido does better, much better, besides being more complete, of course.
    5-Hapkido vs Aikido
Between the two hapkido is more complete and more effective, the hapkido has punches and kicks (the same as Taekwondo) and techniques of self-defense, since aikido has only techniques of self-defense.
    6-Hapkido vs Ninjutsu
also complicates, ninjutsu almost has no kicks and their weapons techniques are defenses and attacks with the hand open and closed in order to complete the hapkido is much more complete in the matter of good efficiency I believe is also the hapkido because the hapkido has personal defenses and blows that you learn fast, already in the ninjutsu the personal defenses that you attack the nerve of the opponent have to hit in a specific place something more difficult to do.
    7-Hapkido vs Capoeira
capoeira has a dangerous creep and an experienced capoeirista knows to fight well, using illusive movements like gingando and applies a blow to him where it waits less, has some kicks and dangerous tricks, but the hapkido is a Korean martial art much used by military, that was more focused on urban defense, has immobilizations, braces etc, arrehesos, various types of punches and open hand strokes, is a style that has only the strongest kicks taekwondo, also has some types of creeps, also has falls, and techniques of jumping, disarming and techniques with some white weapons: nunchaku, knife, tonfa, then in my Humble opinion by my knowledge, I would say it is the Hapkido.
    8-Hapkido vs Karate Shotokan
the hapkido is more efficient the punches and kicks are strong, already in karate shotokan the kicks and punches are not so strong, besides the personal defenses nor do they compare with those of the hapkido.
    9-Hapkido Vs. Boxing
Good between the two, the most complete is clear hapkido, the most efficient both are efficient, boxing has strong punches is a good fight against 1 or 1 against 2 or more, but the hapkido to fight well more opponents if you are a well trained person.
Staff I hope I have helped
    hug

cool vid. although judo guy wasn't exclusively using judo techniques: i saw some aikido in there as well (see wrist lock throws). also this seems scripted, like your typical hapkido demo, except more convincing because of the grip fighting inbetween succesful attacks. for example, that high kick didn't actually land, and when a throw or trip did land the opponent didn't seem to offer any resistance at all.
while demonstrations are cool, maybe next time call it a demo in the title so you don't mislead people.
for what it's worth, you two would make decent fight choreographers or shoot wrestlers. judo is still one of the best combat sports and martial arts out there overall. and if you train at a good dojang, hkd still has a lot of value, and because it's so broad is a good starting point to find out what aspects of martial arts you enjoy most or have the most talent for, so you can later branch out and train in more streamlined/focused martial arts to further your study in whatever aspect(s) of it that the heart desires, i know from experience (trained in hkd for a couple years and have since moved onto kyoku, planning to crosstrain in judo once i have a solid foundation in the former). there are much worse martial arts to practice, and most importantly you seem to be having fun, so keep it up.

I nice, compliant training session, demonstration good technical skills. I'm really just seeing Judo vs Yudo (Korean Judo) which is one of the arts which was amalgamated with several of the more well-known Korean arts such as Hapkido and Taekwondo. Hapkido vs Judo? I don't think so... Let's see some fully competitive (non-compliant) action between the two arts, especially with the Hapkido practitioner using his flamboyant kicks and wrist throws, before we can call it that. Hopefully people won't hide behind the old "I-can't-show-you-my-more-deadly-techniques-for-your-own-safety" excuse.

Hapkido is basically judo mixed with taekwondo and aikido, so it comes down to the kicks being able to do some of the work and using the throw experience (both using and dealing with) to not be taken down, also there's like one or two aikido locks (though not worth learning all that bullshido) which could be useful against someone who only has experience in a judo fight (without striking and both trying the same thing)

Hapkido actually is not a martial art. It's a battle art. It's created at the middle of the 2nd civil war and its techniques/tactics are designed for killing enemies in the battle.
Judo could be just a part of Hapkido self defense techniques if its techniques was focused on joints and stopping the opponent.
Hapkido provides self defense, arms and kicking techniques, cold weapons, acrobat and some more bases in the highest quality and quantity i.e. seen ever. You judge yourself; How Judo can be compared with it?
I'm not trying to say which one is better and which one is worst but this comparing is not fair. A Judoka just performs moderated self defenses but a Hapkido fighter uses every ability of body for killing or at least completely stopping the opponent.
Unfortunately, Hapkido is not introduced in media as it is. It's just being practiced in "Dojangs", Police, Army and bodyguard training. Otherwise people would have a better imagination about it.
With Hapkido You are in Control!

I am sorry, it that is such a bullshit.
There is nothing in the world that supports what you are saying.
Koreans cannot even read their own true history as they are all written in Chinese characters. So all they can do is to regurgitate the fabrications that their government keeps on cocking up.
      Take a look at this:
      th-cam.com/video/Fd8oWLXhNG0/w-d-xo.html
The only martial art that Korea had was archery. Everything else they learned from Japan in the 20th century.

Hapkido is useless in a real fight as it isnt practiced with resisting opponents. In real life its not as simple to kill someone as it seems to be perpetrated by instructors. Even for self defence where non lethal techniques are used judo is proven more effective.

    • @Momsspaghetti777
      @Momsspaghetti777 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Gian Mercado but it is practiced against resisting attackers. Hapkido is not the same as aikido, hapkido has taekwondo style sparring but with takedowns and chokes and sweeps and the like.
Joint locks are not practiced against resisting attackers because often times it requires special training to know how to fall without the technique hurting you. Mainly places teach you to resist and at higher levels joint locks are allowed to be used in sparring sessions, although you rarely see them because joint locks make up not even 1% of the art
In hapkido you don’t see weird blocks like in aikido where you rush into the armpit, you see parrying and counterstrikes. You don’t see dances to take down an attacker, you see swift sweeps
You have evidently never studied or researched hapkido
Also, moron, hapkido isn’t taught to kill. Or even maim. Or break bones. Many joint locks can break wrists but instructors make it clear that joint locks are very low percentage techniques apart from leg bars and arm bars.
It’s taught so that when you get hit you can strike back
When someone tries to grapple you can grapple back
It took many of the most effective techniques from JJJ, judo, shotokan, tang soo do, etc. and rolled them into a hybrid style. It’s no different from MMA in truth.
I have no problem with you discrediting the way hapkido is normally studied but at least understand how hapkido is normally studied you fucking moron. Look up hapkido sparring
