    A gappy bridge sure wouldn't be allowed in real life, but it was a lot of fun learning a potential new way to shave cost in this game! Which level did you guys enjoy most this in this episode?

    • @alvargd6771

      My favourite one was the first one
      Also in the second bridge there was a lot of dangling bridge potential. you could use smol springs instead of wood between the roads and have it just dangle with his springs holding it

    On the triple decker level, I made the top road arch above the ship. So the two ends of the bridge always stayed connected, making it easier to hold everything up.
    And I built a little hurdle for the middle car, so it will be delayed and only two cars are on the bridge at the same time.

  • @royalRoy5
    @royalRoy5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    8:00 I'd say it's build symetrically like that, so it has the instantaneous center of rotation and the center of mass aligned in the same point and therefore negating the aditional stress on the bearing it would have gotten due to the inbalanced rotation.
    Though of course, this leads to doubeling the stress caused by gravity on the bearing. Sooo I'm not sure wheter this trade off is worth it or not ^^

    Everything fell apart on the first bridge because that bottom joint wasn't attaching, I'd recommend always keeping hydraulics at max (50) and only changing the position of the joint it's attached to.

  • @connorgregory3986
    @connorgregory3986 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The one where you asked about the 3 on top, it was a counter weight to allow to the motion to actually work with the hydraulics and made it so it wasn’t just a pendulum on one point creating immense forces

  • @beeble2003
    @beeble2003 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    8:00 "Why has it got the three extra lanes on top?" Counterweight. The moving part rotates about its centre of mass, so the static stress on its support doesn't change when it turns.

    I think that arched roads help a lot more with cost than you think. While both of us know that the arched roads are generally a no-no, they allow a more even split of the load between the trusses and the road, which allows MUCH tighter tolerances.
    Instead of fighting forces with a moment arm, you run the forces along a straight line.

I think it would be perfect for your channel - its a physics based game where you need to get an armadillo into a portal using various materials with different costs and tensile strengths. So you can do things like create slingshots, rubber catapults, anything you can think of as long as you stick to the budget and the armadillo stays in the right place for 5 sec or so.

    I think that 3 extra lane is a counter-weight, so it won't just start flipping around.

    That extra bit on the triple drawbridge was to balance the weight I think

    I remember that first bridge. In my solution t was the first time I used a hydraulic muscle (anything less just didn't want to work.).
    Bloody bastard of a bridge, yet less than many others.
    The second, oddly, was a breeze.

    We need videos more often. These videos are great. Is there any other game you would do ? Portal and portal 2 are dope

      More often can't happen right now, though my patreons are funding an editor to enable an extra video now and again!

    "Test sanguin" in french means "blood test" (blood = sang), so maybe that has something to do with the polybridge world? 🤔 No idea. Upon googling it the definition ranges from 'optimistic' to 'bloodthirsty' so that ain't much help either haha

    its pronounce "san-gween" or "sang-win" (either is considered correct) and means "peaceful" as the shortest definition
