We are going to do Guest Hollow History 2. If we were to add one of the four books you mentioned at the start - which one would you recommend above the other 3?

If I had to choose one? It's hard to choose one reading/reference book however I'd go with "A Young People's History of the United States." After that, I'd choose "A Different Mirror."🌻

As a former teacher, the only curriculum I've ever taught were Abeka, BJU, and Purposeful Design. It amazes me how many there are that I've never heard of!

What did you think about ACSI purposeful design? I just purchased it to look through it and consider it for our next math curriculum.

@@Bullsandbarrels24 hey! I taught 6th grade math and science with Purposeful Design. I will say at first it was pretty difficult to follow. I think the best way to describe it is chaotic. You'll probably get a CD that has additional resources but it makes it hard to find the things you need. The other thing about this curriculum is it is on the harder side. Only the above-average students did well with this curriculum. The average and below average students struggled quite a bit. But it grew on me once I went into my second year teaching it. I do also like the way they incorporate a Christian perspective! Honestly I had a love-hate relationship with it 😂 The parents got very confused at times too and wanted the school to change the curriculum (which I believe they did eventually). If you decide to go with it, let me know what you think! I'm curious of other's opinions of it!

@@alexandraashley that’s one of the grades I purchased lol! Were you using it prior to the second edition coming out or did you use 2nd edition? I looked at the supplemental black lines and memory masters and found all that. Would you describe it as a spiral curriculum? We’re coming from a more mastery based program. I got it because my oldest loves science and stem and it seemed like he would be able to relate to PD interest wise. It also seemed like PD would help prepare them more for High School level Math? But now I’m nervous! Haha I’m used to hands on teaching them math, but I don’t want it to feel chaotic and I’m hoping there’s enough practice problems for one of my kids who is good at math but needs a few extra times to really master concepts.

@@Bullsandbarrels24 I believe it would be considered a spiral curriculum. I definitely don't want to scare you away from it because like I said, it has really good things about it! I actually learned a lot of things I didn't know teaching the science😂😂😅 I believe I used the second edition but I can't completely remember. If you have any other questions though, feel free to ask away! 😊

@@alexandraashley thank you so much!! I do love the integration of stem with the math, and that Biblical truth is part of it as well!

Its an encouragement.I wish I could find some of these resources in french as well. I'll look them up, probably for later because we are in grade 8 now.🙂💕

This was great. We have used several iew theme based units and they are great. Overwhelming when first learning how to use the KWO but overall a solid program.

We are reading through Howard Zinn's A Young Peoples's History. I'll check out your other selections. My eldest is now entering 8th grade, though. The Chemistry in the Kitchen class looks fun! Thank you for sharing :)

What about Campfire Curriculum Natural Medicine for Health or part of it, my oldest will be combining that unit study with Apologias High School Health course and some supplementary reading. For a Hymn study there are 2 levels available from Heritage Mom blog and Not consumed also has one.

Would you be interested in documentaries and videos on nutrition and such? There's another homeschool mom here that has health playlist that I could share if you are interested.
I also think that the daily grace co has some traditional bible studies and has something for hymns. I know I remember seeing something. I really love their studies.

I've really had to be disciplined about watching curriculum videos but when I saw yours pup up I knew I needed to watch it. 😆 My kiddos are still in lower elementary school so you're prepping me for whats to come! 🥳

I always admire you CJ for homeschooling through high school 😀 - I am still a ways away from High School but it is interesting to start looking at stuff. We have been doing IEW already - so mostly we will continue with it. Look forward to seeing your 7th grade curriculum choices since that is what we are starting this Fall for the first time.
