Loved your video! Succinct and entertaining! I loved all of the sound effects! Very fun! As it pertains to language arts, I felt the same way. I've homeschooled for sixteen years and tried every language curriculum under the sun! A friend recommended Christian Light to me. She said she used it and completed all levels with her kids and they had perfect ACT scores and amazing English accomplishments in college. I knew my kids were behind. With so many years of curriculum that didn't work well, they were not understanding or retaining as much as they needed to. My kids all tested (with Christian Light) behind their grade level. We did it last year and it was fantastic. They all remembered it and did amazing (comparatively speaking) on their end of years tests. I'd suggest you look into it and see if your kids have learned all of the skills in the higher levels. If not, it might help. It really helped me and we're doing it again this year!

I would love to pick your brain here...I keep hearing about Guest Hollow...All good things, but the book lists seems so extensive. I have an up and coming Freshman who has dyslexia. Although she is reading, it is still hard and exhausting for her. How would you customize or decide what books to use based on someone who struggles with reading. Is all of Guest Hollows curriculum based off of books or is their a spine to go with it as well? I could see her loving a lot of their courses if it was catered a bit different. As someone who has experience with their curriculum do you have thoughts or suggestions on this? Thank you!

I would be interested to see how you tweak Guest Hollow's Gov., Econ., and Fin. and what you decide to include for your rising 8th grader. I'm planning to do that with my rising 8th grader as well. As I was flipping through the curriculum last week I realized there will be some challenges with the course load, plus the subject matter that I will have to navigate through in my selection of what he does. I would like to do it as a family subject with my high schooler, and I'm not quite sure how it will look yet. I've considered taking 2 years to allow my mature 8th grader time to mature even more as we work through the course, but I'd love to see how another family navigates a similar challenge with Guest Hollow's Gov., Econ., and Fin. TIA. 🙂

I went to a Christian school. When I graduated, my mom used me to help homeschool my sister. We didn't dual enroll, but we did get involved in several Christian groups, including other homeschooling groups.

As you were showing off the different souvenirs, I was thinking about the different people in my family who would enjoy them. My grandma and my wife would love so many of these things.

You're right about the work part. I remember an officemate who started work too early and was not yet done with his thesis. Until now, he has not collected his diploma because he's too busy with work. Let kids be kids. Let them finish schooling first. As for dual enrollment, I guess that would depend on the child's capacity and needs...and if they like to go for it. 😊

The chocolate with volcanic ash! Looks interesting. How does that taste? And the mix of chocolate and liquorice is also an unexpected pair. It's something good to try though! I should list them all down in case I get the chance to visit the Nordics ❄️❤

I imagine it would be difficult to find homeschooling curriculum that works well for your specific needs. Reviews like this, I'm sure, is invaluable to many home school families in helping them find the right curriculum. Guest Hollow looks like it would work great for many families.
