  • After years of surviving with just race cars, and hype from the legendary F1, McLaren got serious about being a full-line exotic carmaker. And since then, it seems they’ve dropped off a new one in our inbox every year. This time our good fortune is this 720S track pack.

      Sure. But I wouldn't believe everything they state, if I were you. I believe Phil Dixon, for example, has an agenda. I'm not saying he didn't have issues with his 720s. But, it's how Phil went about it in his videos that leads me to believe he has an agenda. Besides, for every single model/brand of vehicle built, there are some owners who experience problems. I've seem video of a guy detailing problems he continually experienced with his Porsche Carrera 4S, to the point he sold it back to the Porsche dealership (much like Phil did with his 720S). And there are some 720S owners, as well as those who own other Mclaren supercars, that have said they never experienced any issues with their car. The bottom line is no car model or brand, is entirely perfect. Some are just more reliable than others.

      People are always going to have divided opinions when it comes to how they judge a car's design. It's a subjective matter. So, of course you're not the only one. Personally, I think it's easily one of the better-looking supercars I've ever seen. And most car journalists and others who reviewed the car have pointed out that it's a great looking machine. In fact, the 720s won two awards based upon it's design (aesthetics). One of the two awards is the Red Dot "best of the best" design award. I absolutely love the looks of the 720s (especially that its design is unique and different). But it's the car's performance capabilities that matters most, to me.

      Yep. And a good example is seen in comparing your 458 to the other models (458 Speciale, 488GTB, Pista, F8 Tributo) that Ferrari released afterwards. They all look very much alike. And as much as I absolutely love these supercars, I think (with the 720s) McLaren has produced a car that more thoroughly exemplify a true exotic. And part of the reason why people spend huge sums of money on exotics, is because they want to own a car that is different. The 720s completely delivers in that regard. Its doors are different from conventional or regular ones. And the car also looks different from anything else on the road.

      I suppose you own (or have owned) a McLaren. Am I correct? And what can we do or accomplish in life that doesn't involve us taking chances? EVERYTHING we do (whether it be crossing the streets, boarding an airplane, or even entering a relationship, etc) involves taking a chance. Life is all about taking chances, my friend. By the way, can you name any model produced in the automotive industry that has not presented issues for some owners? No car model is entirely perfect. And just about every manufacturer has had to make a recall on a model or two. Ferrari has had to make a recall on the 458 Italia, for fire issues. And many 458 owners are still reporting they're experiencing issues with their car (that are not related to fire). Lamborghini also made a recall on the Aventador. If the issue with the 720s were as bad as some people make it seem, don't you think McLaren would've made a recall? The problem is, some of us just digest everything we hear others state. We don't take into consideration that some people tend to be bias and or have an agenda.

I'm sure you see how Brooks of Dragtimes continually race his 720s. And he said he's had no real issues with it. I also know some Porsche owners who say they're experiencing issues with their car. In fact, have you watched Nick Murray's "goodbye Porsche 911 Carrera 4S video"? He was having so many issues with his car and decided to sell it back to the dealership, just like Phil Dixon did with his 720s. But, should I decide I'm not going to buy a Porsche carrera 4s, just because he and some other owners had issues with their car? What's your point, dude? Smh.

      How do you mean I do not know Google search? You shouldn't go according to everything you read on google. And I have in fact done some google search on the same subject, and discovered that most of it is just assumption based upon 10-15% power loss rule and the whp figures the 720s puts down from dyno testing. But even the folks who work with dynos will tell you this "10-15%" power loss rule in conjunction with whp doesn't do justice in determining how much power a car's engine generates. And in Parker's video of which he took his 600LT to the dyno, Nick, as well as the other guy who tested the car, told him the same. Check out the video (especially from 8:30), if you wish.

    • @Sir.VicsMasher
      @Sir.VicsMasher 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WHP loss is not a constant percentage. If you have a 250hp car and it makes 200whp then that 50whp stays the same even after increasing power to 500hp. The drivetrain doesn't magically suck up an additional 50whp.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The drive train loss will be percentage of loss always. If you go from 200hp to 400hp and your loss was 10% it would be be 180whp and 360whp. On a chassis dyno it will appear that the drive train is sucking up more power.
      What you can't says is that there is just a default percentage.

I can unequivocally tell you that Mclaren is in a different league than Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari right now. The 720s is GT car so yes it is a bit more sedated but if you want spine tingling performance then you owe it to yourself to drive the 675LT or its little brother the 600LT. The 675LT is 1b as the favorite car I have ever owned with the Porsche Carrera GT being 1a. It’s that good! Oh and just for the record, both of my Mclarens have been absolutely trouble free after almost three years of ownership and several track outings every year.
