Thanks for putting this together. I finally found a service manual after I rebuilt this unit. It is a very well designed generator and runs smoothly. No nonsense and easy to maintain.
Well. Anybody who's watching this. Now that I have two of these. I can now say with 💯 percent certainty. This was the best 1000 watt suitcase generator ever made. The honda em600 is also very good But the ex1000 just is too loud. Yamaha got it just right on this one.
I use some scented 2 stroke oil for the air filter, also run leaded gas with half a dose of 2 stroke oil. Smells really good. Its a cheap chinese generator but it still works after many years
It seems if the cap is placed the other way round (thin part pointing outwards) you can even use it when draining to prevent oil spilling everywhwere ?
Does anyone know if the needle and seat is supposed to have a small rubber O-ring inside the barrel where the needle push"s against ?. I cleaned the carb and now it leaks out the vent tube when I turn the gas on. The float is good and needle metal tip is lightly sanded and cleaned. but there is no rubber down in the hole just looks to be a brass seat.. I took apart carb 3 times and still leaks.
Just found one of these on the side of the road. Pretty good condition. I'm thinking i need to drain fuel, oil and remove carb and lines to clean, then do this service. Thanks

That's a good idea about putting the filter into a bag and coating it with oil that way. It makes far less of a mess. I like it.
Lost it at oil... good old 90s Japan build quality
Great little generator!
It amazing how much can be stuffed into such a small package and it still sounds good after 35 years.
Enjoyed the video!

I agree. This is a fantastic piece of machinery.
@@Rustbelt_Research no expensive potted circuit boards to put you in the dark.

Thank you!! Gave me All the information I needed
Nice to see you back!

I can't confirm but I'd assume it's a brass seat. You may have the float level set a little too low?
Che tipo di olio ci va? 2 tempi o 4 tempi
can tilt the unit back to fill oil.. faster

Yes, I'd start there. Drain and clean the whole fuel system thoroughly, make sure the machine runs well, and then maintenance it.
@@Rustbelt_Research makes sense. Cleaning the fuel tank and sealing it. Cool machine
One thing you skipped: What should the spark gap be?
Spark gap Yamaha ef1000 is .024 inch.
