You're the best Dan. These guides have been awesome. I've been sharing them on Reddit when beginners ask questions and I've even seen others mentioning them too. You're really providing value here.
Hey Dan! A streaming guide would be awesome! Your streams are really great to watch. Really like your demeanour, your tone of voice and just the way you handle yourself. Great job on sending out these streams and TH-cam vidoes!
I watch you race to learn better technique. I learn a lot from your explanations. I have raced real world ovals in the past. If you were competing in oval cars at the level of your other Sims you would find your self braking hard at at the end of the straight and trail braking into the apex. Momentum is important but out braking the other dude works just fine in ovals. You would be good driving at the limit on ovals. Ovals are somewhat of a contact sport. 'Rubin is Racin' (slang) as we say. Light taps from the rear are pretty standard. Ignore. 'Bangin Doors' on the last lap is expected. Pulling out of line with the car in front and to the inside is a classic move. But it requires precise braking 'to make it stick' and put the other car to the outside in the corner without sending them. Driving the perfect qualifying lap in the race is not the norm. Someone is always there, unless you are in front or clear all around. When the rear rotors are glowing on corner entry your about at the limit. Take some laps with a Dirt Super Later Model. It would be something special to see you on dirt. I do understand this video is about rookie class. It was fun to watch you jump out of GT3 into ovals.
Hi Dan, greetings from Argentina, your videos are awesome. I would like in the future an open wheel career path guide with the best categories while spending as little as possible. Thank you!
Update: Did my fist race. got wiped out by Idiots, the first track is so short you cant distance yourself from others, qualified last or second last and was running up in 5th for half the race, avoiding all the spun out people. some how got to many points even know id managed to stay out driving till lap 30 then got DQ'd for not pitting to fix damage, Oval driver are by far the worst drivers i have seen on IRacing...
Update:update, Got taken out by more idiots in the second race, Rage Quite out of it. Jumped into the street Stock instead. Much better driving, Bigger longer track, with more room to aviod wrecks and overtake, Qualified 11th Finished 2nd. Happy Days!
personally i did street stock but when i was coming up it was only usa and charlotte so i just focused on charlotte and i was out of rookies in a week! short tracks are more corners in shorter time but bigger tracks have more room overall so easier to avoid contact
Loving the guides, if the giveaway still going, I would love to with the G29 as my G920 broke and cannot afford a new one. Not been able to play iRacing since 😤
Oval racings are the best :) I always drove DW12 Indycar. (Indy500 in the 90s was my first racing sim, that's why I guess) Need a new wheel and get back into iRacing...but I think they moved to DW18 or so.. What is really hard is Nascar. This is really brutal. So sensitive to all kinds of inputs.
"Don't oscillate on the accelerator. You see me do this sometimes, but that's because I'm not a good driver..." So naturally Dan started a virtual driving school ;-)
Yes I would definitely be interested in a good pc guide for iracing. I am using a ryzen 5 1400 with a rx570 and I have to agree with you that iracing isn't a fan of my pc.
Agreed that an iracing (or racing games in general) PC guide would be handy - the ryzen 5 3600 and RX5700xt I bought to upgrade my five year old gaming PC shipped about an hour before I watched this video xD. They were mainly for ACC (and the card being replaced was an old ati r9 390 anyway), but I've also just signed up to iracing and I'd have seriously concidered a lower specced Nvidia card if I'd watched this video beforehand! I was also hoping to upgrade from my old 24" 1080p monitor to a setup with more peripheral vision, but I don't know if I'll have the specs for anything more on this new setup. Anyone have any ideas on minimum specs for ultrawide or triple screen setups?
@@tome753 Your specs seem respectable really - If I'm hitting 150fps on a 32' 1440p with an 8600k and 1070, I'm sure you can go to a double or triple monitor setup. Just be aware you may have to sacrifice fidelity.
@@dreamcrusher112 Thanks for the reply! That's reassuring. I've not regretted buying ATI cards in the past, despite a few of the shortcomings they've had, but there's always a moment where I imagine a monocled alternate universe me having a slightly better time with their Nvidia card xD
I feel like this would have been better if you'd treated it like your other one, meaning making it a complete newbie guide. I feel like many (most?) oval drivers are going to go straight to oval.
Trying to hear you is hard with the music playing. I need to understand you I have no need for music here. Thank you very much for what you do you have helped me a lot.
@@DanSuzuki Thank you much none is preferable. I also would like for you to slow down when moving your muse around showing us how to use software. I replayed it many times and still can't get a handle on how and why to get there and use it. do you have a video on the pedal software to explain it better as I have these pedals and Iam very new at iracing ? Again thank you very much for putting in your time to help slow leaners like myself.
Stream guide would be interesting, especially if you cover methods to stream iRacing without doxxing yourself. I would like to stream, personally but I'm not comfortable with putting my name out there.
I just started last week. Getting ready for my first track change today. I didn't really understand that my license would be capped at a D if I stayed in Miata. I guess it doesn't matter. I don't feel like I should move elsewhere until I've raced some more tracks. That said, I'm not really sure where I'd go next anyway. BMW 12.0?
@@DanSuzuki thanks for the reply definitely covers a lot. The video mentioned others but I saw you continued the account on twitch so I wanted to confirm this was the last one
Im new in this game, i drive a race like yours, my X was 0 and still i only get 0.09 safety rating, again im new, but do i missing something here, you get much more
It depends on the length of the race and basically how many "corners" you do in that time. So a shorter track with more corners gives you more corners per race and therefor more Safety rating :) Also sometimes when you reach a specific threshhold I think you get an extra 0.4 Boost.
STOP putting background music to videos with *narration* .. it ONLY makes it HARDER to hear what you are saying and is VERY distracting ... EVERYONE STOP DOING THIS.. we are NOT here to listen to music !!
@@DanSuzuki - From what I've learned in photo editing and background music on my channel; when you say the music is where you want, then cut it back by 1/10th or 1/5th, and you've nailed it.
Jonas Joppe Vest you obviously never tried going 3 wide or winning by 0.015. Riding side by side with another guy for 4 laps before the magic overtake. Road you are racing against the track not another driver. It's comparable to road is single player and oval multi-player. I prefer racing people. Yes in road you overtake and crap but what is that 3 times during a race you actually race a guy. In oval if fast enough you have to overtake people throughout the entire race

Legends are a blast to watch IRL they race a lot on road courses too. They use a 1200CC motorcycle engine.
Thanks friend , I can’t begin to tell you of the value of these beginners guides you’ve been sharing , God bless you
Nice guide. I'm almost ready to try out iracing after watching loads of TH-cam iracing videos like yours and davecam
Love the videos, Dan! I would be more interested in a multiclass guide!
why not do both like the first multi-class race and how to start?
Please do the first multi-class race !!! BTW love your content. Keep it up.

hi Dan, can u make some tutorial for dirt car?
ps.i prefer Street Stock :)
Heads up to anyone new to this video. Oval racing legends don't hit the breaks just let off. Much faster
Thanks for the video and tips :) could you please put a link to the addons you mentioned such as the spotter?
Done :)

How much would you estimate it would cost to reach A rank in Oval, including any needed tracks+cars?

You mentioned that F1 requires A license but no one drives F1... why do you think that is? F1 seems like it would be the pinnacle of road...
How do you get the telemetry at the bottom

No, I think pretty much everything should be covered :)

Is there an option to highlight your name in the results?
It is a chrome extension. I think it's called iRacing Profile enhancer or something
