it basicly an update version of soul of chogokin version which is amazing
When you mention Blitzway Voltron, it is basically that close, because of the Soul of Chogokin Megazord that has both metal content and a few extra gimmicks that look back at the original DX, like rollers on the Triceratops and Sabertooth Tiger (plus the expanding gimmick of the former and fully working legs of the latter with knees). Cockpit doesn't open on the SOC compared to this, though, which does tie with the whole budget Blitzway Voltron, since they have opening cockpits.
There is no comedy relief sketch at the end.
Finaly caved and bougt the megazord, and one thing i did to fix the knee joint is glue a tiny magnet i found on amazon and a small steel plate to the ankle of the trex and it holds prety well
I was hoping Hasbro would make a titan sized megazord. It would have to miss some paint apps and certain gimmicks to have a $200.00 price, but it would be awesome to have a Megazord the size of Scorponok.
If Hasbro were to do that, they would probably do that with the Super Train Megazord from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.
It would look cool to display a Megazord that big with a Scorponok or Fortress Maximud, but I'd prefer they do a Goldar as big as the current Megazord.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but considering the size of the brand I feel that the Megazord and power rangers in general deserve a Haslab.
Give it time. They're only just getting the ball rolling with Zords after what, four years of having the brand? It'll come. I imagine Pyramidas or a Command Centre to be possible projects.

They were aiming for masterpiece but hit generations.
I had found a listing ready to place an order by the time you'd finished reviewing the Pterodactyl, and my decision was solidified with the collapsing treads on the Triceratops. The legs joints and connectors are definitely an issue. Here's hoping someone over at DNA Design is a Power Rangers fan.

So I just picked one up. And I will say I am severely disappointed in the joints. However I will say it poses EXTREMELY WELL!!! it dios look so so good.
As awesome as this would be for new fans that missed out on the original, I still hold a LOT of love for my 1993 set of zords. They may not have the screen accurate decoration or posability of the ZAP, but I still love the sense of nostalgia. All in all, I like what Hasbro is doing, and the only reason I'm not getting this is because I'm old enough to still have my original in great shape. Based on the review, I truly would recommend it to fans that don't have the 1993 stuff.
@Axel Ayers I was 6 when the original '93 came around. Lol. Hold on to your fandoms. They can be a nice distraction to help you with hard times. The ZAP Dragonzord looks good, too. I hope they do a Titanus to complete the set.
I was always someone who liked more transformers and I never loved the way the Megazords had no articulation But they have something that seems magical to me
To be honest, anyone that has missed the original 1993 release, they can still get that one today. And is way better than this one, when it comes about show accuracy and plastic quality.
Definitely needed a few more revisions before final. A back of calf clip to fix that knee lock issue. And better tightening up the pterodactyl to torso attachment so there's not so much gap in there from different angles. But overall, great first attempt albeit with some faults that a later revision/recolor will need to fix.
What I love about the Legacy Collection Zords over the Zord Ascension Project Zords is that the former came with the ZordBuilder gimmick, so you can hypothetically build an UltraZord with the DragonZord, the White TigerZord, the Ninja FalconZord, the Firebird ThunderZord, the Triceratops Zord, the Saber-Tooth Tiger Zord and Titanus.
Or so I’ve heard. I have yet to find evidence of this powerful new MegaZord combination.
Hopefully some 3rd Party company could make an upgrade kit for the knees

Honestly I'm hoping they fixed the leg joints with the dragonzord. Otherwise we really need to rely on DNA
Best way I can summarize this thing overall: the figure and all of the stuff weighs 715g. The packaging weighs 1.24kg, nearly double the weight of the figure.
Here's to hoping that a 3rd party company makes an upgrade kit for this, as it could certainly use one for some areas. Still, I'm overall happy with it, and here's to hoping future ZAP Megazords build upon this.
I'd rather buy a 3rd party company Megazord than upgrade this piece of junk.

It’s a good looking figure, just a shame about the joints. At the moment though it’s probably the best bang for your buck considering how much the SOC version is going for now.

Thanks for the review, sadly the ZAP Megazord isn't what I expected given the price, but at least fans who missed the Legacy and the SOC versions have a chance to get a Megazord. Hope Hasbro improves future ZAP, as I'm really looking foward a new Thunder Megazord and a Shogun Megazord with decent articulation.

I'm only up to the Triceratops, but the sloppiness on the paint applications is already standing out to me. I know, it's super zoomed in versus how you'd normally see it on the shelf, but it seems to just be a downer. But hey, at least no NFT tied to this one.

@@tylervanpeursem7627 Basically they tied the black and gold repaint that the Megazord tends to get to you needing to grab a power coin NFT to burn that and then get I believe it was a code to get the Megazord from Hasbro Pulse. It was a terrible thing that kind of hurt the announcement of ZAP and mercifully Hasbro will never do that again considering all the bad juju that surrounds that whole thing now.

ZAP T-Rex looks like a guy wearing one of those inflatable dino suits as far as proportions go. Overall though, I’d say ZAP is probably better than Legacy.

Had mine for about an hour and I fully agree that hinge in the knee is an absolute pain in ass to deal with. It makes the whole lower end of the zord very unstable. But the big problem for mine is the fact that my sabretooth's teeth were bent in the box and are now permanently bent at weird angles.
Overall I'm disappointed. Feels like they spent more money and attention on the box than the figure inside. That's the lingering feeling I have toward this. A $70 figure in a $180 box. It's cooled me on wanting to get future releases.
I’m a bit on the edge with this one because I think it should cost a little bit less. I would make do with the previous more basic one that released last year I think but in my territory cost almost the same as this one…
When the z logo is not really scene in power rangers except for Tommy dragon zord
I feel like this set WISHES it were Soul of Chogokin, but didn't have the initiative or budget to push Soul of Chogokin out of its market niche.
My boi Daizyujin looks pretty good, gotta say. I hope those part tolerances have been ironed out by the time I get my own.
Wow... I just realized that Hasbro made a KO soul of Chogokin Daizyujin.
I need to look into getting this, especially if they eventually make my favorite Mighty Morphin zord, the mighty Dragonzord, or as I call it, the Godzillazord. Lol

This has to be one of the best Megazord packaging I've ever seen from Hasbro.
It definitely makes up for being screwed out of Soul of Chogokin Megazord a few years ago.
Although for some reason, it was listed as "Minstrel" at Gamestop. lol
I still have the thunderzord and Tigerzord sealed. Gonna crack them open once I obtain the zap dino, dragon and Titanus from legacy.

I hope the next megazords they will hopefully make will be better in quality. If they do make every other megazord, I want to collect them.
I collect pokemon cards not the 1999 or I forgot what year they came out. I started my transformer collection as well now I'm starting my power rangers megazord collection and I had to start with the original megazord
The Megazord Tank Mode was called the DinoTanker if memory serves me right.
the tiny rangers are all cast in red plastic and are painted (except red obviously), I thought it was a weird oversight but apparently red plastic is the most durable for some reason. I only noticed because my yellow ranger had a bubble of unset paint on it where they've just dunked in with their respective colours.
I love this review and I love this Zord. I do wish Hasbro would just stop Mighty Morphing us to death though. There are way better Zords to come out with, like the RPM Zords or the Samurai series Zords.

I mean I know it has to be done a certain way due to whatever, but the "Pterodactyl In Name Only", the Legless Triceratops, and the Tusked Tiger (because those "fangs" aren't fangs) always confused me with their designs.
I cannot WAIT for them to make the Mystic Force Zord! Also can't wait for the Flame Furai Dino Zord

Here's a good question: if you could, would you Boop the Snoots? Side note: the Pterodactyl guns were used in tank mode, but I don't ever remember them being used in full Megazord mode.
They were, but like with this figure they were only on the back.
Honestly it is such a minor detail it is really easy to forget.

The leg joints on mine are nice and tight fortunately. It's stupid yours are so loose for a figure this expensive QC should be a lot better. I do like this Megazord quite a lot though, it looks great next to the soc

As a collector of giant robots I checked myself and yes the cannons can fit the blast effects from jetfire.

iirc the tank mode was referred to as Dino Tanker in Zyuranger, idk about MMPR though
I think in MMPR it was just called Tank Mode or something simple like that. It was then followed by ‘Megazord sequence has been initiated’.
While the instructions referred to it as tank mode, I recall it being called battle mode in the show. Edit: in western Power Rangers, I mean.
Well from the original Zyuranger the official name of the Tank mode is the "Dino Tanker" but in the official canon it is referred to as Megazord Tank Mode. Though I think "Dino Tanker" is a better name.
That leg join is literally all that is wrong with the set. If it had a clip there, this would be perfect for me. They’re just too loose. It didn’t even really need that joint either tbh.

When I consider that Dancoguar got the Soul of Chogokin update back in 2003 and it not only looked far better than this but had better articulation too... yeah this is not great.
i think the heal parts were an after thought cause they put a heal that folds out on the sabretooth tiger , which is pointless with the heal parts

The secondary leg joint of the T-rex’s right leg on mine is fused into place. So I can’t push the peg out the intended way. Had to get a thin strong piece of metal to combine the megazord.
Expect a third-party company to make some parts to improve the legs for the megazord

When i got mine i immediately sent it back. The tyrannosaurus arms were melted and stuck and you couldn't even form the megazord. I also immediately cancelled the ZAP dragonzord preorder i had. Very disappointing 😭 now i just got to hope i can find a SOC at a reasonable price

So I looked it up and the two combinations are called Tank mode and Battle mode on the Wiki.
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but it looked to me that zack was wearing the dragon shield inside the cockpit of the mammoth anyone else think so? If so thats a very cool touch.
2 bricks with wheels in it (one with legs), a Cat litter shovel a Mammoth (the best of all the 5) and an IGUANA both with not much articulation... but we pay high prices because of the nostalgia.
If you like Transformers, I think you are not going to like this, the transformation is too simple
I'm waiting to see how the Flame Toys one turns out. Yeah, it's crazy expensive, but I'm just sick of getting Megazords that always feel like the company half-assed the project. Even the SOC suffered a bit from this; sure it was great compared to the Legacy version, but also clearly inferior to the SOC Voltron that had already come out. I want a Megazord from a company that will actually bring their A-game.

Masterpiece Transformer price for something this cheap and less complex is bad.
There is a partworks for this megazord, but it's only available in France. There's a guy from the UK who is importing it, and doing the build on TH-cam. It's far bigger than this one, and has light up features.
how much does it come out to after buying all the parts?

Gotta make sure the t-rex feet are as collapsed in as possible. they get a lot further in than I see most reviewers show and I think that's what holds up the stability. I didn't have any issues with stability...though I will say mine has significantly stiffer joints than it seems others are getting out there. My only complaint is the joint that holds the tail, I feel like that one is going to snap when I remove it.

Thats basically what it is. SOC was $300 when it came out (though would undoubtedly retail for more in todays market) and the ZAP is about half that price.
GameStop has it at $124 right now

I don't own the megazord, but on sabertooth tiger's neck are some grooves and i wonder if they allow to collapse the neck into the head to make it look shorter?
I totally agree with you 100% on the legs man. I don’t like them either. But nonetheless, this figure definitely gave me so much nostalgia and brought me back to when I had the original one as a kid. And the packaging just makes the unboxing experience another level.😃
