I remember seeing this car at the show. It’s far from pristine, but too many of these cars were considered “throw away” back in the day. It’s amazing that any of them survived.

when dad came home with a ‘59 Pontiac that made me a Pontiac guy even though it was 1970. My Grandparents pick me up all the time in their 1967 Bonneville hardtop with power windows and I loved that car too. I used to clean his white walls when he would visit mom and surprise him.

I know all about " Walking on Eggshells"....I owned a restored 68 Mustang GT that I felt the same way about. Felt like I was driving a target every time I took it out.
I finally sold it recently to the younger sister of an old buddy of many years.
She loved the car for years and is happy to have it.
And I'm happy to not be walking on eggshells.
My daily driver is a 67 Mustang six cylinder coupe with rust bubbles and a ratty interior that I drive anywhere without a care in the world.
From now on, no more really nice cars for me....
By the way, that GTO is really nice.

NICE - in High School 1972 I bought a 69 GTO Judge Carousel Red 4 speed w/ console PS PB / 3.55 rear end posi, with 49,000 miles for $1250 and that was a LOT of money then. car was still all original & NICE - over the next 2 years I destroyed the car - motor blown and a few accidents - Dumb Kid I was - with F70 rear tires I would pull a stopped Hole Shot in 2nd gear at 3600 RPMs and leave 2 black stripes for as long as I wanted over spinning the tires forever - I was quite famous for that

Hi, Lou! Little GTO, you're really lookin' fine! All red, all white, all delightful, love at first sight...yep, that sums it all up pretty accurately! And appreciated in a way only a man raised on Pontiacs could! Interesting too that the original owner found a way to cheat to save a few insurance bucks! That would have been much harder to do if this was a Judge!

Jaja. ¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!

That was my super floppy DC skater boy sneakers getting blown off my (admittedly lightweight) perpetual JV baseball jock tubesocked stocking feet and landing against Mr. Reilly's house, on the other side of Grand Street, 4 houses down (he was one of my baseball coaches when I was a kid!)😂😆! Coach would pick them up with a grin and just shake his head, he knows who's chick crazy stocking feet these flew off of 🤣lol! Oh boy, what a survivor, Lou. And these are the best kinds, you know? So pure and beautiful with those hidden headlamps that take just a bit to open and close. Hey, man-she likes to wink at the men admiring her, you know? It's too bad that they couldn't match the paint color. Those plastic noses always seen to be a different shade.
Decades ago, one of my customers had a '68 or '69 GTO which I used to maintain. It did have the 400 V8 but had a factory 3-speed manual trans. I thought is was strange and decades later I found out that Pontiac sure loved those 3-speed manuals, offering them as the standard transmission. I have seen the one GTO and I've seen one Firebird with the 400 and the standard 3-speed, but that one had a Hurst shifter, which could have been a factory original.
As a side story, we had a customer that had a Cunningham C-4 roadster, with a 331 Chrysler Hemi with a custom Cunningham intake manifold that had 4 2-barrel downdraft carbs. It had a Muncie 3-speed. Because there were no specs for how a Cunningham's drivetrain should be, we swapped it out with a 4-speed Muncie(which didn't exist when the Cunningham was assembled). They weren't like the later Shelby Cobras, which with each different series, were all built the same way. Back in the late-80's to early 90's, years later, we hired a young guy to help us with working on a couple of Packard 6's, a sedan and a roadster. His name Was Briggs Cunningham IV? and his greatgrandfather was THE Briggs Cunningham. Never got to meet him, but it was cool having his namesake working for us. The kid didn't know much but worked as a step-and-fetch-it for us.

Now my little bro. owns a 1969 GTO and the tach is on the drivers side hood. Did the Ram Air delete the tach on the hood? I also wonder if the cars been repainted as the original stickers on the door jams are gone (which usually means a repaint). Thx again Lou!

Hi David, Happy to read your Brother has a cool car. Though the hood tach was a Dealer option add on, however hoping a Viewer with more knowledge can share. No idea about the paint. You're welcome, Lou

Hi Greg, I think it was Dr Seuss who said, "Don't be sad it's over. Be glad it happened." That helps me with things or people who are no longer around and I hope it helps you too, Lou

Don't know if it's just me, but the paint on the hood does not match the rest of the car for some reason. It looks a touch brighter red, & it's not just the lighting. Could it have been this way since new?

Hi Jack, Might have been this way since new. Lou

The paint looks pitted from weather. It didn't come from the factory like that.
