    I was recently at amplified auto sports St. Pete They are the best and do very good tuning. Had two people take me for a test drive. Both were JDL turbo kits. One was set to 7.1 psi the other 10 psi honestly if your concern about reliability do the 7.1 psi setting this car thruster you back into your seat, but the car with 10 psi pushed you in the seat and was neck snapping fast. Almost felt like you were gonna over stress the engine. The key here is conservative psi JDL pin setting with waste gate start at 5.8 preset, then 7.1 , 8. ,9 and 10 I think it goes higher if you modify internals first. Get ball bearing turbos with them. The two are Garrett GT ( GT2860 ) or the GTX ( GTX 2860 ) these are best for this car are small sized compact, reduces turbo lag, less heat , improves throttle response, are both air and water cooled so less time at idle for cool down. More reliable efficient than the single scroll turbo cars I was in and they still had not a whole lot of lag. The third and final key here is heat is the enemy. So make sure you get all hot side items ceramic coated piping etc. don't skimp on this. A little extra money in the smart areas will pay off later. You get what you pay for trust me.. Heat, boost, and quality turbo are some of the main things to research before diving in. May the boost be with all of us. Yes and try not to remain in max boost with the peddle to the metal for more than 20 min straight doing thing off tent per month. This is how those guys bow their stock motors and they may not have considered much about heat, boost and quality of turbo

      davie crocket Yeah I’m in the Tampa area and Danny at amplified has worked on my car before, great shop. I’m actually looking to have them fab me a new charge pipe (I have the old kit with a not so great MAF position). Going to upgrade to the 2860RS in the near future also...should’ve went BB from the get go.

    Awesome videos. I'm installing my kit atm myself and I probably added a hundred views to this series myself. I ended up going with the FBM vent to atmosphere catch can because of this video and I'm glad I did. Just to skip the jerry rigging (still clean) you had to go through with your unit. Just wanted to thank you for all the help in selection and installation. 😁

    the coolant running through your throttle body is for the automatic choke for cold starts, not to prevent it from freezing up. but regardless near useless for warmer climates. some people may have issues passing emissions without it.

    I went through two throttle bodies after removing these after watching this video. On a track car seeing high temps you may burn up throttle position sensors in the throttle body be removing the coolant line.

    Yes, they do have a cattless header El if you want a cataleptic converter you can only get one with the front pipe or a resonator catted combo, or a front pipe with 2 resonators, or a straight through front pipe with nothing on it they highly recommend getting a front pipe / over pipe combo, both are three inch if you have a three inch exhaust, this will open things up a lot will get max power out of your 3 inch cat back. Hard to find a 3 inch over pipe out there, but they are one of the few that have one made., I just called them. I did not see it on their site but check again or you can call them to request one to order with the kit

    Hey buddy, I believed I talked to you before in one of your videos. I am approaching the purchase of the JDL Kit, also going to be tuning be HRI, also found it funny how I have the Dezod exhaust as well haha. You have a beautiful build man. Just couple of questions, What other supporting mods to the kit (like the oil cooler, map sensor) have you gotten? What is also astonishing is that you still have stock internals. Are you confident that you will not be needing stock internals or do you plan on getting them eventually or shortly? Last one, what clutch are you running?

    • @IanBarton86
      @IanBarton86  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah a turbo is fine for a stock engine as long as you keep the boost below 10psi and the fuel octane at 93 or higher. I did end up with a built engine with Darton sleeves, forged pistons, rods and other modifications to allow for more reliable power and to sustain it on track.

      Both of the fans behind the radiator are for both the radiator and the AC condenser. Those two heat exchangers are mounted closely together so that the fans draw air through both of them.

    Quick question on your AoS system.
    On the tube you are venting to atmosphere would it be possible to vent it to a Catch Can then back into the Turbo PCV port you capped off or is there a different way that works?

    • @IanBarton86
      @IanBarton86  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be very redundant but it's possible.

    • @jakobsmith749
      @jakobsmith749 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose it would be redundant, however, is it possible that in case of a AoS failure would it be a good safety measure?

    • @IanBarton86

  • @Kanadian-Squirrel
    @Kanadian-Squirrel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How would u rate the jdl turbo kit your running as to the SBD500x? Is the jdl a nag to tune?

    • @IanBarton86
      @IanBarton86  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SBD is a low quality Greddy ripoff kit using a Taiwanese GT30 clone turbo with common issues including air filter fasteners coming loose and destroying the turbo, manifold collector cones breaking and destroying the turbo, turbo burning coolant, manifold weld failures, and more by the day with stories of poor customer service. JDL is far superior; featuring an all original design mandrel bent, thick wall stainless steel (UEL or EL, your choice) manifold and downpipe, genuine Garrett USA turbo options, ceramic coating options, wastegate options, flange options, intercooler options, intake options, and did I mention it has a lot of options? The JDL kit can be configured to meet any power goal and customized to your liking with excellent customer service. I would avoid SBD at all costs. A base JDL kit is very comparable in price but you will get a much higher quality kit.

    • @IanBarton86
      @IanBarton86  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as tuning goes, my experience with HRI Tuning has been great. James has tuned countless JDL kits to the point where now he offers an excellent base tune that is tailored to the kit to get you running and dailed in more quickly. The e-tuning method is convenient since you don't need a dyno, you simply drive the car and log with EcuTek as instructed, and send those logs to the tuner, who then tweaks it and sends you a new tune file. You flash the new tune, and repeat the process until it's done, usually after just a few revisions.

    • @Kanadian-Squirrel
      @Kanadian-Squirrel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn! That’s why it’s so important to do research before purchase because the same thing u should said was said about the jdl😪and that tuners has a hard time tuning it without it blowing up.me personally,I wanted the uel setup becuz I love the sound seeing that I have uel hearts right now.i wanted the best of both worlds:uel rumble and boost...I guess when it all comes down to it,your choice comes down to what your looking for and everyone will still have their own opinions on other products.i really wanted the kit u have though over the SBd500x.jist wanted to hear the output of someone who actually owns the kit their side of it.

    • @Kanadian-Squirrel
      @Kanadian-Squirrel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Barton I have oft and not ecutek...does that work with obtaining the tune for this kit?

    • @IanBarton86
      @IanBarton86  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kanadian-Squirrel no, I would highly recommend selling your OFT and getting EcuTek with HRI Tuning. OFT has canned tunes that are not tailored to your car, and limited features and capabilities for tuning with forced induction and flexfuel. EcuTek is a true tuning platform with much more robust features for tuners to use and get your engine running safely with boost. The EcuTek bluetooth adapter is now shipping by default with HRI Tuning kits and that allows you to use your phone with the EcuTek App to log your tune easily, view virtual gauges for boost, temps, etc, and easily tweak your tune features on the fly.
